I've searched the forums and found some similar situations but none of the possible solutions worked for me.
My problem is that my usb mouse is correctly recognized by Windows 7 x64 (no exclamation points in device manager) but it refuses to work, the mouse arrow doesn't moves...
The curious is that the first time I booted into Windows 7, the mouse worked but in the next boots I had to "Deactivate" and "Activate" the mouse in the device manager.
I've already uninstalled/reinstalled the mouse and connected it to the other USB ports (wich I'm sure that works because I can connect pen drives that work flawlessly).
An additional note might be that this same mouse works fine under Vista (is there a way to use Vista generic drivers in Windows 7?).
My keyboard on my laptop is not working, as well as the mouse. I pluged in a usb keyboard and a usb mouse so that i may use my laptop. how can i fix this. i ran a system report and this is the outcome.Error Symptom: Device is not present, not working properly, or does not have all of its drivers installed. I reformatted my computer recently and ever since my Dell BT Travel Mouse is not working. Bluetooth is turned on in the BIOS, and I used driver genius to get all of the drivers needed. It is connecting to the mouse and I can see it in the Devices. That being said I can't actually move the cursor with the mouse.
You normally left click to access something on the internet but all of the sudden my computer won't do that. I have to right click then go up to click on OPEN and then it works. Using windows 7 pro and this just started over the weekend. How do I get it back to left click to open?
Yesterday I got on my computer everything is running fine. Today got on it for awhile and suddenly the USB keyboard and USB mouse lock up. I've tried restarting it and I can't get past the first screen. It says keyboard not present or something around those lines.I plugged in a ps/2 keyboard and it works but my USB mouse will still not work. I've tried going into BIOS and making sure USB was enabled. Tried a system restore but for some reason it wont complete.
I do not understand this. I've been buying and returning 'defective' wireless devices for my media center for the last few months. I bought a logitech wireless mouse (v220) a few days ago and it works on my E6410, E6510, Thinkpad T500, NC6230, and custom amd gaming machine. However, on the machine it is intended for use on, it does not work. It seems to work fine (as far as I can tell) in windows. In media center, bridge, firefox, ect... it just doesn't work. You move the mouse, nothing happens, or it moves very spotty.
I recently had the top cover replaced because of damage done to it during a tuneup and cleaning. Now my right mouse key, on the touchpad does not respond. Using a wired mouse everything is normal. Is there a setting in Windows to correct this, or is it a ribbon not properly connected or similar problem?
I have a Dell Zino HD. After some Windows updates (may or may not be relevant) the mouse and keyboard have stopped working completely. They work for the BIOS and for F8 options but once Windows has started to boot properly, they stop. I therefore cannot log on.
Okay so not to long ago my laptop's touch pad left click stopped working my left click but I didn't care because I used my wireless mouse for games but 1hr ago I restarted my laptop and now my left click works but my wireless mouse doesn't work so now I'm mad since I hate using the touch pad for games since it's harder and it suckswith this problem I think it's going to be a simple fix.I clicked on Devices and Printers, then I see the mouse and I click troubleshoot and it doesn't find the problem it says it's working fine. I tried the FN + F9 and it disables the touch pad and I do it again and it enables the touch pad but not the mouse does nothing the my problem.
I've looked in several forums but didn't find the solution, my mouse was working perfectly (touchpad still working), until I installed a joystick driver, and then it didn't work anymore, it is detected, the mouse emits the light it usually does, and when I go to Device manager, it's there, driver up to date, and "the device is working properly", it says.
my win 7 pc will not move the mouse away from the left side of the screen. it will only let me go up or down and when i do that it moves inversely! It usually works again when I reboot but now that doesn't work!
Why would my mouse just stop working. Checked the batteries and they're good. Loaded W7 on 3 days ago and today the mouse won't work. Running W7 64 bit. It's a Kensington mouse as well. Was using it with vista 64 bit with no problems for a year.
I have a very strange problem. My mouse clicks by itself, and my keyboard types things I've previously typed EVEN THOUGH it's not plugged in. It's random, but occurs after about 2 hours of use. Could I have gotten a virus or changed some weird setting?
2 days ago my mouse randomly ceased to work (Razer Imperator). Before preparing an RMA I thought to test it on another system (netbook) to verify it was broke. Turns out it wasn't.So past 2 days I have been googling my ass off using my drawing tablet as a mouse. I have other USB mice but they all don't work either, other than the tablet. Unfortunately system restore is not an option as for some bizarre reason its not turned on. Using the repair CD, the one from the backup part of the control panel doesn't work as it detects no problems. One thing I did learn from that boot repair CD is that my mouse functions fine at this point. From this im assuming a software fault. First time I saw that I had hope it was fixed. Not to be the case.So I can give yall a brief overview of the things I have done so far:
Checked that the mouse is working on other systems Turned off Legacy support for USB on my BIOS Uninstalled and re installed the product drivers countless times (These were removed properly each time) Tried all the USB ports on my computer and verified that all my ports work with other devices eg flash drives and the like Uninstalled the drivers from the devices in the device manager to see if windows could re install them automatically Transferred several .INF and .PNF from another functional system related to the problem ( also have the originals backed up) Removed all other USB devices to see if its a power fault Updated my bios and chipset drivers alongside most other system drivers So thats where I am at so far. I also have a few observations which may also be relevant Under the devices and printers and into the properties i get the following [URL] From that I think its related to a missing PnP HID-compliant Mouse driver or atleast there is a conflict but thats my speculation
Restored to an earlier date and the mouse works fine in the bios but not once windows starts, it is a wireless USB and yes I have tried other mouses...
installed the R/C last night. When it finally was done installing doing an upgrade from 32-bit vista to windows 7, the final reset loads up and i cannot use either my mouse or keyboard. I have tried pluggng them into every usb slot i have, restarted with both plugged in and not plugged in.tried the 2 other mice and another keyboad. One being a microsoft keyboard that. The keyboard does work when choosing between the different loadup options, but still doesn't work in safemode. When i try to reinstall either Vista with my bootup cd or with the copy of windows xp i have, it starts the loadup , but keeps getting the blue screen before the install even starts.
I recently gave vista the boot installed windows 7 on my Toshiba satellite A200-FT3 laptop. Everything went great however the touchpad doesn't seem to be functioning.
I've already installed the latest synaptic driver. The device manager even says that the device is 'working properly' however i can't get the pointer to move using the touchpad.
I have had windows 7 x64 for a while and suddenly, my USB mouse (OCZ Behemoth) stopped working. oddly, only the pointer stopped working, the clicker and scroll wheel work fine. It's a corded mouse, so no "new battery" comments.
WHAT I HAVE TRIED
Different port Device manager->Reinstall (it appeared as "Unknown USB device". it now appears as "USB Human Interface Device" but still does not work.) Rolled back using System Restore to yesterday when it worked, nothing. Rebooting Going into my WinXP x64 install, it works there putting the Behemoth in my laptop, it works. Using another USB mouse on my computer (doesn't work with 3 mice that work fine on other computers) Trying other USB devices in my ports (all ports work fine with a thumb drive, as well as USB devices that require power) POSSIBLE CAUSES I recently set up a "guest" account on my computer. this is the only major change i can think of (this was removed when i used System Restore) IT IS NOT
Motherboard Drivers (USB works fine with other devices) OCZ drivers (no mouse works correctly) Mouse Battery (corded mouse) Bad install (it worked fine for the approximate month i had Windows 7 on my computer) Proprietary driver clash (self-built rig, not HP/Compaq/whatever) NOTES I have not tried a PS/2 mouse or USB->PS/2 adapter because i do not own one. The "new hardware wizard" does not pop up upon a mouse insertion I am admin account.
My mouse has stopped working after i did some window's updates!, it's only a 4 mouse from asda in the UK, but was working fine before i did them. I went into my task manager and 2 of the USB's have warning's on them? Also this is the latest update that's killed my mouse.
Running Win 7 64 bit on a Dell laptop. Previously had an older MS wireless mouse that worked fine. Went to upgrade to IE 9, and the mouse quit working. After repeated tries at un-connecting/re-connecting the USB, restarting computer, all met with failure. The system still does not recognize the device in the USB port. Have tried other ports as well with same result.
Being an older wireless mouse, went and purchased a newer HP optical wireless mouse. No driver included to install (no software at all). Same results in each port tried (3 in total) as the previous mouse. Device not recognized and not installed. Plug and play is on per what I can find in the system. New batteries were tried for both devices. Placing the mouse and receiver in different distances between while hitting the 'connect' buttons did no change.
Verified the new mouse is on the compatibility list for Win 7 64bit. Tried running the troubleshooter but it takes me continuously to the device page telling me the device is not recognized and not installed. Tried a system restore to yesterday, before I did the IE 9 upgrade/install (via online). Noticed System Restore said 2 windows updates were done at the time I did the IE upgrade. Completed system restore - no change for either mouse after trying all the above again, with system restarts as well.
The mouse and keyboard work in the Bios, but once it gets to the log in screen there is a pointer in the middle but nothing works.I had just installed the software for the keyboard from the Kensington website and it told me to re-boot. So that is what I did, now nothing works. After I noticed it had froze, I had to hold the power button on the tower to shut it down. I tried doing safe mode, but that made no difference. Legacy is activated in the bios and it sees the UBS mouse and keyboard. I tried doing a system restore, but for some reason my backup disk is not being seen (even though the reader is) and since I got the OEM version of Windows 7 I don't think I can just re-install it.
I have a Dell Inspiron 560s which is about 2 years old. The keyboard and mouse were working till 12 hours ago. This morning i realized that neither of them were working. The laser in the mouse and the lights on the keyboard stays on until the login process starts. The keyboard works in the BIOS. Once the screen says 'Starting Windows', the lights and the laser go off resulting in the mouse and the keyboard not working. I thought going into safe mode and trying would make a difference - my efforts went in vain. The only way I could turn off the computer during this process of trying was by turning of the ups or holding down the power button for about 5 seconds. I have currently stopped any further trials as I am afraid that switching off the computer like that would spoil the hard disk and I will lose all my data which is on it (I have lots of Pics and docs which are very important).
