actualy i replaced my os which used to be windows xp with windows 2007 ,since then my monitor gets turned off suddenly but the remaining system is still on, and i have to restart my whole system.

I was using 1440 x 900, now it doesn't let me anymore; when i 'forced it' from nvidia control panel it appeard with two black bars on the sides and foggy text. I think is a problem with the monitor recognition, because it doesn't appear my name monitor, it appears Generic Non-PnP Monitor.I mention that i already reinstall the windows and graphics driver.

So I went on a three day trip. When I got home, I turned on my computer. The cooling unit made an unusual noise, and all of a sudden the monitor turned off, as well as the computer. Now, whenever I turn on the computer, it works perfectly fine (The cooling unit noise is gone also) but the monitor just goes to the ASUS boot logo and tells me VGA no signal. Even that only happens sometimes, it will mostly just remain in sleep mode. Things I have done:
- Tried with a different monitor
- Tried with DVI cable
I wish I could tell you my graphics card but I just don't remember.
Asus VE228T that I use as the main display on my left (and my laptop screen works as the secondary screen on the right). The resolution is 1920 x 1080, wasn't displaying anything and I went to the Screen Resolution properties and tried doing what I've always done if the screen hasn't been on, choosing "extend these displays", didn't work right as the laptop screen remained as the main one (usually the Asus has switched as the main display by itself) and the Asus did turn on BUT with my laptop's resolution.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am running a dual monitor setup with my TV hooked up via HDMI to my laptop.
Everything was working fine before, I always had the laptop as my main display yet I could play a video or a game fullscreen on the TV.
Since a couple of days, as soon as I put something in fullscreen, it immediately goes on my laptop, regardless if it's open on my TV or my laptop. I don't remember changing/installing anything that could've changed that...
I checked a bit in the AMD vision software and the Windows control pannel but I can't seem to solve my problem without switching my TV as the main display. I also made a quick search on google as well as here but the problems were mainly with Flash, which isn't in cause here.

I have just did a clean install of Windows 7 ultimate from XP and I am unable to get my dual monitors to work like they did in XP.
I have a DVI Radeon graphics card plugged into the agp slot, and a Nvidia geforce vga adapter plugged into a pci slot of my dell optiplex 755. When I am in the screen resolution settings the second monitor cannot be detected.
In bios I have 2 options under primary video adapter and they are auto, and onboard card. When set to auto the Nvidia card gets a signal but the Radeon does not. There are no conflicts in the device manager, and all of the drivers are up to date.
When I change the bios option to onboard card the Radeon adapter gets a signal but the other monitor cannot be detected and in device manager there is a yellow exclamation mark next to Standard VGA adapter and a code 10 error that states the device could not be started.
I have powered down, and unplugged every cable, I also tried to use the integrated VGA adapter to the Intel G31/G33/Q33/Q35 Graphics Controller but the computer will not even boot. I get

Attention Unsupported Video Configuration Detected"
I have two monitors, both work fine as standalone but Windows will not detect either as a secondary.
Please help me someone, I am so used to having my helpdesk email open in one monitor and all of my other work in the other monitor.
This computer is running an ATI Radeon HD 2400 Pro. It does support dual monitors...(I've had dual monitors active on this card before, but never on Windows 7.) But since installing windows 7, I can't even get it to detect the second monitor. I want to run the setup with the CRT as the primary monitor and the HD as the secondary.

As you can see from above, the "video card" is actually integrated into the motherboard.The computer works perfectly except for one major problem. I have 2 monitors, one is 22" with 1680 x 1050 resolution and the other is a 15" monitor with 1024 x 768 resolution. At the back of my computer I have a VGA port and a DVI port. The 15" is connected to the VGA port and the 22" is connected to the DVI port.When first starting the computer, the 15" monitor was recognized as the primary monitor while the 22" was recognized as the secondary monitor. No problem. I simply went to the display settings and set the 22" to be the primary monitor and the 15" to be the secondary monitor. Unfortunately, this setting seems to reset as soon as I reboot the computer. The 15" is always set as the primary monitor on start up, forcing me to set the proper settings all over again. What's worse is that even after I have set the proper settings, they sometimes revert back when using Media Center or other programs. Worse yet, sometimes the monitors both go completely black ... as if the monitor settings were about to switch but got locked up some how.I'm assuming that perhaps the on board video has a primary port (VGA) and a secondary port (DVI) but even still, shouldn't Windows 7 be able to over-ride this and save these settings so that the monitor settings remain the same during startup and regular usage?
I'm using a television (32p) as a second monitor in extended mode so that I can watch a movie in the TV and play a game in the monitor (this was my main goal). Monitor and TV lays in two different ambients, both connected to the same pc, one by normal VGA cable and the other by HDMI. I managed to differentiate the audio output so that VLC player sends it's audio to the HDMI (so that only the TV plays it) and the rest of system sounds, media players and games outputs to the speakers (basically only the VLC audio is directed to another output device). I reached my goal so that I can watch a movie fullscreen in the TV and play a game in the monitor fullscreen too without any interference from one another (nor audio or video).
The thing is, because I have the TV in another ambient I can't actually see what's going on in it, as I just "throw" the VLC window to the TV from my main monitor. And here's the question: There's a way to see the TV's desktop in my monitor? Without having to set it as main monitor so to not really switch between desktops.. The perfect thing would be if I could see the TV's desktop in a window like in remote desktops applications.
I have AT&T DSL and it just drops out, I have a 2 wire router and the DSL and Internet lights will flash red when it drops, I have had this problem for almost a year and AT&T will run a useless test and tell me everything is fine. I have searched for 3 days trying to find a Broad Band Monitor to let me know when it drops and for how long, also how many times while I am at work, or just not on the PC.

Doesn't mater which program I us, windows DVD burner, just putting in a DVD and waiting for the burn window or using a 3 party software. Will not burn DVD's. I'm not getting any error code just window that states the mpeg 2 is missing. I have downloaded the windows codec 7 and k lite full with not luck. Any ideas for the next step?

When I plugged in my tablet, the computer notified me that my device was USB 2.0 and and could run faster if I plugged it into a USB 2.0 port. Trouble is, I had used this port many times in the past as a 2.0 port, no problem. I confirmed the slower rate by trying to transfer my podcasts over to the tablet like I normally do.The ports in question are the ones on my front panel. I plugged the tablet into one of the rear ports that are mounted directly on the MB and got 2.0 speed no problem. On a whim, I plugged my wireless mouse/keyboard receiver into one of the front ports. It worked, but would be intermittently choppy. I tried downloading the latest MB drivers from Gigabyte, and that didn't seem to help. I saw that there was a problem similar to this for some win7 users about a year ago that supposedly got fixed. I checked and the fix has already been applied.

Suddenly a couple of days ago the wireless stopped working and it can't see any connections. There used to be a few it could see, but now not even one! I know the router is ok because I can access it wirelessly with my iPhone. I also know the hardware is ok on the laptop because I swapped the hard drive with an old XP one and the wireless worked perfectly.

Before when my volume level was at 1 or 2 it plays really loud and clear now i have to turn it up all the way to 18- 26, I am using external speakers i dont know what the problem could be any ideas?

I THINK it happened after I tried to use the windows back up...which didn't complete itself anyway. The HDD reads a max capacity of 111GB with 39GB free. If I select all the folders (I have the hidden ones showing) the total size according to the windows properties window is 67.2 GB. The windows folder (not including program files) shows 37 gb when I select it.

I bought this on eBay from a person with 99% Positive feedback and with 2300 stars, so I'm sure it isn't pirated. Looked system idle process up and this is the explanation I got: When opening Windows Task Manager you may notice that the "System Idle Process" is high and be concerned about something using your system resources. When a computer or a processor within the computer is idle it will have a high System Idle process in the CPU column, often in the 50's to 90's. This is completely normal for a computer as it waits for something to do. But this has been going on forever I would guess, why is it slowing my system down now and it never did before? it's so slow Xmarks normal take 15 to 30 sec. to sync. I stopped it at 2 min. As I am typing this ...I type 5 to 10 letters and everything freezes for 5 sec. then it fills in and freezes, then 5 sec. later I can type some more.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a HP I purchased at a store just over a year ago.I am running Windows 7 64bit. [code] I have some games (Spore, Sid Meier's Railroads) that worked great on this machine after I got it. The machine more then meets the specs. I could play for as long as I want and have no issues. Now I open either game and after about 5-10 minutes it is like the machine is overwhelmed with process. My CPU usage and ram goes up to 100% and everything is slow. When I click on a button to get a menu it takes 3-5 seconds for the menu to come up and then another 3-5 seconds for the mouse to move to the menu so I can select an option. So far I have made sure all my drivers are current, I have cleaned the registry with 2 different cleaners, I have removed all unnecessary programs from starting, I have tracked down process I determined to be non-essential and made sure those don't run, I have tweaked Windows to use less recourse (I should not need to do this now), I have removed unneeded programs, I have defragged, I have cleaned unneeded files, I have run Microsoft malware scanner (forget the name, no problems found), I have run Kaspersky 2011 in a deep scan and a critical area scan (nothing found), I even got one of those Speed Up My PC programs (I know garbage program) because I am so frustrated but that didn't do anything. I don't want to F disk it because I have too much data I need to keep.

View 8 Replies View RelatedMy Windows 7 PC won't boot. There have been no software or hardware changes (potentially a windows update was applied that I don't know about, shutdown one night, all OK and then couldn't boot up the next morning). I get the windows 7 logo, then a black screen with mouse cursor, but I can't move the cursor. There's no keyboard response either (I don't think this is the infamous black screen of death as this typically still responds to a CTRL+ALT+DEL?). Safe Mode is no different apart from seeing drivers load, it stops at CLASSPNP before pausing for a while and then the black screen.
Managed to run the startup recovery tool, although I only get this option sometimes when trying to boot. It scans but can't auto fix the problem but reports a corrupt registry (I don't believe this is the problem though).
I removed my boot drive (which is an OCZ SSD) and mounted as a secondary drive in another PC so I could browse files on that drive. So I managed to restore my registry files from the windows backup files (windowssystem32config
egback), then replaced my SSD in my PC, but still no boot (which is why I don't believe it's a reg problem). I swapped out the SSD to my other PC again, this time I ran a chkdsk on my SSD, it found some small problem, nothing major so I fixed it successfully and swaped back to my original PC again, but still no change, still not booting. I swapped it out again, this time I had a look at ntbtlog.txt, it shows lots of inf's not loading (CLASSPNP being the last one to load.
I have a Lacie 250GB firewire external HD (couple of years old) which I use as a backup device. It's only used (switched on) about once a month.Everything has been fine until yesterday. When I switch it on, the light comes on and it whirrs into action as usual, but, rather unusually, Windows 7 (32bit) starts looking for a driver and then says, "Device driver software was not successfully installed". The HD, unsurprisingly, doesn't show in "My Computer" but does show in "Device Manager".I have uninstalled and reinstalled the HD, but still no joy.I have a separate 64bit partition (used exclusively for music) on the PC which does recognise the HD, so all is not lost, and leads me to think that the HD or cable is not the problem.

For instance I want to install some software by doubleclicking on the msi file I see in Windows Explorer. After entering Admin credentials I get a message that the file I'm just seeing in WE cannot be found.Similarly, when I want to edit extended system properties, C: Windows system 32systempropertiesadvanced.exe cannot be found.Something apparently related is that when I want to start Eclipse which is a Java app the system fails telling me that no client JVM at xxx can be found.When I log in as an admin everything seems to work right.
