I just found out about the hidden Administrator account in 7, herp derp. I hate UAC prompts and I want to use the account. How can I migrate everything from my old user account to Administrator while not breaking any program dependencies or anything like that?
View 9 RepliesI am using Windows 7 Pro 64x and apparently the default user account (Owner) that I use is not working correctly. Unless I have UAC set to Never Notify, I cannot open Control Panel or UAC again. I have created a second user account as Administrator and it works correctly.
I would like to know if there is any way to fix this problem short of a clean install of Windows. If not, is it possible to move all of my settings to the user account that works correctly and delete the one that does not.

I log onto my new Admin account and go to the Control Panel and then to add or remove user accounts. I select the old account select delete, and then confirm. It does not let me do this. However, oddly there is no error message, it just sends me back to the page I was on previously and the account is still there. I also cannot demote it to a standard user account.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been given a laptop to try and sort out. For some unknown reason the user account has changed from an administrator to a guest account. Tried logging on through safe mode but nobody knew the administrator password. I cleared the password and gained access to the system via safe mode. When trying to access the system via admin normally the admin account was not activated.
So safe mode again and reactivated it finally got into the system in normal mode but now the user that was guest that i want to make admin again con not be found. If i go looking in the users folder there user name and folder is there. If I try to create a new user with the same user name the system will not let me. I need to get it back. How to achieve this?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI normally work with Macs, so this is a rather new experience for me. Here's the issue:
1. Old P4 computer with WinXP died (CPU and PSU died). It is completely non-functional.
2. Made a new PC with all new components and new HDD with fresh Win 7 installation.
3. Plugged in old PC HDD into new PC as a secondary drive.
How on earth do I transfer the account and applications from the old PC's HDD to the new one at this stage? I'm at a complete loss. The Windows Easy Transfer requires the old PC to be functional and concurrently running in one way or the other. All I have is the old HDD it self and the new computer.
On OS X, I'd simply run Migration Assistant, select the other HDD, and migrate. Ezpz.
Windows Easy Transfer doesn't work the way I think it should. After completing the Transfer Windows itself takes on a similar look to the original configuration, but the settings that I most desire to migrate are left behind. I'm talking about all the little tweaks to the registry, stuff like mousehoveractivate, tootip delay times, etc. The stuff that is transfered seems aimed more towards applications. Is there something I'm missing? Perhaps there is a way to get the tweaks straight from the registry and transfer them that way?

It tells me that i cannot acess my user profile and all information will be deleted on logging out. The application installs and starts up just fine but it is not possible to drag icons/programs/files to the toolbar - I just get the 'no entry' sign (Circle with line through)However, the application runs fine when logged on to the hidden Administrator account. If I set up the application in the hidden Admin account and then log on as a normal admin user and run it from that account, the icons I set up are just not visible.So what do I have to change in my normal user account (member of administrators) to make this drag and drop work?I have tried 'Run as administrator' but that made no difference. The music file I used for the account was could not be found and when I went to locate it I was told I didn't have administrator rights. I went to Control Panel because I was sure I was an Administrator, but sure enough, I was set as a Standard User. I tried changing it up but it wouldn't change. The machine is running Windows 7 - 64-bit version, and currently has 3 users accounts 2 admin and 1 regular. The regular account has begun to experience log on times that last for minutes (The Welcome splash screen prior to log on screen), while the admin accounts have no problems. I have seen other posts regarding slow log on times, but I haven't seen those which address the issue for a specific user account.

I added a new drive C and installed the OS on C but changed default location of User Folders to D. From there on, when I want to log in I end up at the error message "The user profile service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded". I tried to activate the administrator account by using "net user administrator /active:yes". The command executes, but administrator never shows up on the login screen. When i right clicked on the folder and then selected the properties,then the security tab and i saw many users ,which i think i have not created,. So, I deleted all the users and something went wrong now as I lost access to the whole folder of windows, Folder C.I am logged in as an administrator but still i don't have access to anything. I can't manage accounts, I can't create new accounts and I am really confused .
