View 9 RepliesI have a Dell Inspiron 1750. Today, for no apparent reason it has started booting very slowly. When you hit the on button there is the usual sound and then the screen is just black and the computer goes quiet. Eventually, the windows logo flies in, in slow motion and then black screen again for about 3 mins

If I go into safe mode with networking it loads very quickly. Have tried to disable all non-MS services does not make a difference. Have also tried normal and selective startup. Check for latest drivers/firmware updates. Performed the usual cleanup and check disk. SFC did not find any missing or corrupt files. Scanned and removed malware. Waiting for it to reload to look at event viewer logs.

charger wire has loose wiring showing and if the black wire touches the red wire the computer completely shuts off, and when you turn it back on you have to go through the whole re-start process and lose unsaved documents. Plus when you run it in the normal mode it takes forever to load anything, and a little window keeps popping up saying "microsoft windows is not responding." but when I run it in safe mode, it works fine. what's wrong here?My theory is that the charget has been short cerciting (i know i spelled it wrong, forgive me) so much that it's been causing damage to the motherboard,

Disabled all addons
Ran "without addons" version
Tried about:blank start page
Tried software rendering mode

View 12 Replies View RelatedI have a relatively new Windows 7 enterprise 64-bit install. This is a domain account, so I have to do ctrl+alt+del to login. After entering my password, the welcome notice comes up (with the spinning circle), and it takes quite a while for the desktop to appear. It can be as long as a couple of minutes. This is a pretty fast rig (i5 2500K/GA-Z68X-UD3H/F312800CL8D-8GBXM) and when I first set it up it, my desktop appeared about 10 seconds after hitting the power button, including login.
Is the use of the domain account the likely cause of the delay, or could this be something else like automatic update? I'm not sure how I would go about finding out.
Recently, whenever i turn on my computer. It will take quite a while to load the welcoming page (The green page). Usually it took around 1-2 seconds. I've tried updating windows and anti virus scan but the problem still persist.

View 6 Replies View Relatedhave been struggling with my system taking 2-3 minutes to find drivers for any memory stick I plug in to any of 3 USB ports on my Acer 1810T. When the process finally completes, the transfer speeds are about 1MB/s or less.Another (possibly related?) problem is when I insert any SD card in the dedicated slot for the first time, everything is fine. Once I remove and either re-insert (or insert a different card), nothing appears. I get a message saying "process is already in memory". I have to reboot to get things working again.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am having trouble just viewing the "Downloads" folder in Windows Explorer It used to just be a periodic thing, now it takes literally 2-5 minutes to load this folder! (I cannot even sort it while it is loading!)I noticed in Resource Monitor that "MsMpEng.exe" (Microsoft Security Essentials) is checking each and every file in there everytime I open it. (Hundreds of line-items in Resource Monitor.)So something must be flagging most of these files as changed or something so that MSE is going in and re-scanning everything. Here are some [perhaps ] pertinant notes about my Downloads Folder: It is very large, with almost 1,000 items. However, I want to keep it large as I have many apps running directly from the folder. (There are of course sub-folders for organization, but I find having a single download spot is good for catching things I may have already downloaded...) I have it mapped from C:Users[USERNAME]Downloads to D:...Downloads (My C: drive is an SSD so I keep this large amount of data off it.) I made sure to add this to the Windows Index. The "Date Accessed" date is updated to today for about 1/3 of the files (300 or so) even though I am only really accessing no more than 3-10 per day. It does not seem to matter what type of file it is (exe, zip, etc...) I added this to my "Favorites"; however, this happens regardless of if I access the folder via Favorites, [USERNAME]/Downloads, or d:...Downloads. I generally add stuff to that folder via Google Chrome. However, I could not catch the Chrome process doing anything weird or anything when downloading something.
View 2 Replies View RelatedEarlier today I turned on my Toshiba laptop (Satellite P855-S5200) and got some sort of error screen, and then it brought me to a screen asking if I wanted to do a system repair or start windows normally. I chose system repair, but then it seemed to get stuck in that process (It was taking forever and nothing was happening), so I turned off the laptop (I know, big no no), booted in safe mode, and did a system restore to a restore point from about a week ago. The "starting Windows" screen came and went, no problem. Everything seemed fine till I got to the User Selection screen (the default blue one with the little hummingbird or whatever). Then it just sat there on that screen. I could see the hummingbird and the little squiggly lines, but there were no buttons to click my user. I just let it sit there, and after about 5 minutes, the user names popped up, and I was able to continue using the computer without any problems, no other speed issues whatsoever. It now makes me wait every time, always about 5 minutes, before the user names pop up. It does this when I restart the machine and when I try to switch users.
It is a Pentium Core i7
2.3 Ghz
8 GB RAM
Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit
My HP laptop has decided it just wants to sit there after I try to open applications. A friend of mine reommended I download Combofix as he thought this would resolve issue...it hasnt. What I have noticed, is that for the past few days, if I have tried to open firefox, it has come up with error that its already open, but if I wait a few seconds, it works fine. The firefox prob happened once before and I hate to delete out a profile and bugger around with with another setting, but I cant remember what I did. ANother thing I have noticed, is when an app does eventually open, after about a minute, it states its not responding up the top, but then it disappears and app seems fine. If you try to use arrow keys to scroll down, it hesitates sometimes also....
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have been having this problem for a while now, never managed to sort it. Basically when I start my computer using the keyboard in BIOS for f12 and think like that are fine but the second I get into windows login screen I cant type or use the mouse for a good 10-15 seconds which is a right pain. Anyone know why this would be happening? Or anything I can test to see what the problem is. (Mouse and keyboard work fine on other computers)
View 9 Replies View RelatedI dont know if this is posted in the right area but I'm so desperate to get my laptop working its unreal. First it started off with my laptop crashing, I had totally forgot it needed to do a windows update and turned off my laptop in hopes that it would work properly. After that my laptop has not been working. The machine turns on and gives me two options. Start windows normally or do a repair. Upon starting windows normally, it loads so far before sending me back to the two options of start windows normally or repair. On the second time I clicked repair. My laptop then goes so far before presenting me with a blue screen that is usually the screen where my accounts are. The cursor still moves but it loads no further even after leaving it an hour. I decided to make a repair disk, hoping that the problem was because of windows. the disk loads, gives me a choice on the keyboard language then does nothing. I honestly have no idea what to do, I want to keep all the files safe on my computer as I havent backed them up and I have worked so hard on the projects.

I've been having a problem for a while that everything is taking longer to load upMy computer startup time has drastically increased, from around 20 seconds (to login screen) to around 40 seconds. Additionally, individual programs take longer to load, too. Where Chrome used to be a nearly instantaneous load, I now have to wait around 10 seconds for it to start up and become responsive. However, after opening each of the programs for the first time (after each computer startup), closing the program and reopening it will result in a normal load time. Only the startup times have been affected; the actual performance is fine.I've already run virus scans (I have Norton Security Suite), chkdsks, tinkered with msconfig, and many others, just short of reinstalling Windows. I'm not too sure what to do now, as a re-installation would take quite a bit of time to create a backup[CODE]

This 10-min delay happens every time win7 restarts. Note that this happens even initial setup/install, no other programs installed yet.
