After pressing the shortcut "sleep" key on my keyboard. My monitor will turn off immediately whereas the CPU will take awhile to sleep.Before i reformat my computer, my CPU will off immediately together with the screen.

[code] My computer randomly freezes (even as I was writing this post it froze for a while and i had to wait for it to come back to life). I am not sure why this is happening as it has been great for over a year. Also the when I put it to SLEEP (not hybrid or hibernation) it takes a LONG time (over 2 mins to hours).I have restarted my computer 5 times yesterday and a couple times today, because it just stops working. If i open Task manager I get (NOT RESPONDING).. which has only happened this week.. not sure why.Even by right clicking on My Computer to see my specs all I can see is Installed Memory: Not Available (Should say 12gb)Processor: Not Available (should say 2.0ghz)it's happened twice that Windows Explorer is not responding (as in the windows viewer not the browser)I am running 2013 AVG Free Anit Virus - and it's never been an issue.

I usually let the laptop go to sleep and when i wake the computer, the wireless connection takes about 2 or 3 minutes to reconnect to the network.
I have another win 7 laptop that connects as soon as it wakes up but this one does not do that. The wireless connects fine when i boot the computer but its just after Sleep and wake.
The wireless symbol right bottom of the screen tells me that there are wireless networks in the vicinity but takes some time to connect; I have set my network to connect automatically if it detects it.
As soon as my computer wakes up from sleep mode, it takes about a minute to connect to my WiFi. All of my other laptops and computers connect instantly, except for this one.
View 8 Replies View RelatedIt will work fine for awhile; sometimes hours, sometimes minutes, and then I randomly won't be able to connect to anything. Windows says I'm still connected and can't find any errors, and when I try to connect to anything it gets timed-out.I did notice that there are quite a few things in the device manager under "Network Adapters," though not sure if there's anything in there that could be causing a problem.My laptop is the only computer in the house that has this issue, and it's had it on both of the connections I've tried using.
View 9 Replies View RelatedAll my browsers were freezing and crashing. I was getting the DNS 1012 error. I found out I was missing my host file. I added back the host file. Chrome and Internet explorer worked ok for a little while, then they started crashing again. I took off Chrome and replaced with Opera. Opera worked perfectly for a day and I thought my troubles were over. The next day, it started freezing and crashing and I am getting the DNS 1012 error again. If it's not recognizing the host file, why did Opera work so well for that one day. Also I noticed when I go to my embarqmail account, that's when the freezing really begins and then it affects other sites I go to after that.

Now it just goes to the user login screen.

I know there are a bunch of sleep problems out there but I couldn't fine one similar to this after doing a forum search. Running Windows 7 Ultimate. Sleep used to work ok but now when I choose sleep from the start menu, the screen blacks out but the computer doesn't actually go to sleep. The fans, activity lights, hdd lights are all still running. If I move the mouse the screen comes back. However, if I just wait for the sleep timer to kick in then the computer does go to sleep (all fans stop running and all lights go out). I'm not sure what caused this. I use my pc as an HTCP and now when I push the power button on the remote the pc does not go to sleep.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI currently run Windows 7 ultimate 64bit, 8gig ram, intel i7-2600k cpu, and my OS runs on an OCZ SSD (all specs are in my profile)Sleep mode is set to S3 in BIOS, I have hibernation disabled (so no hibernation.sys file on my c drive)When I put my computer to sleep then immediately wake it up, the login screen shows instantly, I type in my pass and it loads in like 0.5 seconds.When I put my computer to sleep but wait for around 1-2 hrs before waking it, it shows the login screen instantly but after i hit login, it gives me the Welcome spinning circle thingy for like 20 seconds before I can see my desktop. That's like longer than my entire boot-up time excluding POST.Event viewer doesnt show any performance delay, and I dont think my OS drive (OCZ vertex 2) has a cache so I have it disabled. I'm sure all my mobo drivers and graphic drivers are up to date.

I've been having a problem for a while that everything is taking longer to load upMy computer startup time has drastically increased, from around 20 seconds (to login screen) to around 40 seconds. Additionally, individual programs take longer to load, too. Where Chrome used to be a nearly instantaneous load, I now have to wait around 10 seconds for it to start up and become responsive. However, after opening each of the programs for the first time (after each computer startup), closing the program and reopening it will result in a normal load time. Only the startup times have been affected; the actual performance is fine.I've already run virus scans (I have Norton Security Suite), chkdsks, tinkered with msconfig, and many others, just short of reinstalling Windows. Monitors: two (2) 19" Widescreen LCD. One is DVI, another is VGA+adapter=DVI.
Problem:
Win7 setup (install) -> first restart -> bios finished -> blank/black screen for 10 minutes (or so)... then win7 loads and resumes fine.
This 10-min delay happens every time win7 restarts. Note that this happens even initial setup/install, no other programs installed yet.
Previous OS: Windows XP Pro 32bit, SP2. No problem with booting.
I have tried unplugging one monitor, switching, using the onboard ... all with same result.
Can anyone help me, I'm desperate -- about to ditch win7 and go back to XP pro.
Whenever i am opening videos folder, my cpu usage goes to 100% and out of that 98% is for explorer.exe.........

I've done everything, disabled some of the unnecessary startup progs in the msconfig, but what really annoys me is that on my older PC ( dual core and a 3gb of ram ) it wasn't that bad, it used to take like 3~4 seconds on the welcome screen....

and the most important part in my issue HDD : WD EARS 1tb 5400 RPM 64MB cache
NOTE : i tried my older HDD in the new system, same results ( ~25 seconds )
"idle" but it's even after I boot up.So RIGHT after I boot up I check the task manager to see how much RAM is being used, and it's ALMOST ALWAYS 45% or more (I have 3 GB of RAM in total, so this is using around 1.35-1.5 GB of RAM right after boot-up).I have already gone into my services thing and disabled all the things that I believed I wouldn't need or set it to manual, I have already deleted programs and files that I do not need, and I have blocked programs that I don't need from starting at boot.But even still, it uses that much RAM. View 8 Replies View RelatedEverything was fine with my pc for about 6 months now since I did a fresh install on a ssd. Today everything was working great, I never install windows 7 updates and use my own nod32 anti virus. I have windows 7 64x
I shutdown the computer and everything was fine. When I tried starting the computer again it was stuck on the windows logo with starting windows words. The animation of the flag was animated and not frozen. My post message submitted at a regular timeframe. I did do windows restore and still takes about 30 min for windows to start. Tried windows repair, took 30 min to even get into it, and startup repair says there is nothing wrong. Safe mode gets stuck too and won't start up.
I also checked bios to see if there where any changes, but everything seems in order, the boot sequence and order and so on. I have no clue whats wrong and scared to turn off the computer incase next time it completely stops starting.
I am using Windows 7 Home premium 64bit(genuine) on 2.30 dual core CPU with 3 GB. I reinstalled windows and a month after the reinstall, whenever I right click on only any file to open/cut/copy/rename/delete, it takes too much time, and many times the folder in which file exist goes unresponding. I am using AVAST (after using 60 day trial of Norton) and it is updated regularly.

The title more or less says it all: "Keyboard takes a while to be recognised on bootup"
My pc boots in about 17 seconds, when it's done in order to login i have to insert my password but it takes a while (15-20 seconds or more) to recognise the keyboard so i usually use the onscreen-keyboard option. but it is really lame that i have to do it that way in order not to wait double the time.
My desktop is homebuild and I have personalized also a couple of things in windows, however this problem is pretty recent and I didn't do major changes before that.
I don't really know what extra information to give however i have an idea what the problem might be: the keyboard is inserted into an external usb port (8 extra usb slot extender), it might affect the visibility of the keyboard to windows.
However: in the bios before bootup i can clearly see the kb has been identified.
I have a Dell Inspiron 1750. Today, for no apparent reason it has started booting very slowly. When you hit the on button there is the usual sound and then the screen is just black and the computer goes quiet. Eventually, the windows logo flies in, in slow motion and then black screen again for about 3 mins
