Mouse Takes 1 Minute To Start After Boot?

Jan 18, 2011

My mouse takes a full minute to be usable after boot. the first time this happened I did a system restore and it fixed it. It came back, I did another restore, it came back again I did it 3 more times like this. I am current on all updates. I am running a asus px658d-e board. All the drivers are up to date. I am running the most recent bios, I am using a usb keyboard and mouse. I have tried booting with the mouse in each usb port with no improvement. I deleted the mouse in the device manager and rebooted. it reinstalled the driver and the problem did not improve. I am running win 7 pro 64bit.

2 Minute Blank Screen Before Boot Up

Mar 4, 2009

I recently have noticed longer boot times with my computer. This happens with Vista or 7 both 64 bit.

After I am at the OS select screen, ill see the little Windows load screen w/ the small bar. After that I get a blank screen that lasts as long as 2 minutes before Im taken to the log-in/welcome.

There is no cursor, just a blank screen. I noticed this when for Vista 64, but did not see it when I had 7022 on the Win 7 side. But now see it as well for Build 7048.

Hangs On Black Screen For About 1 Minute During Boot?

Jan 28, 2013

I have an ssd and my windows usually boots really fast, like around 15 seconds. Recently though, I've encountered a problem where after the glowing windows icon and before the login screen I get a black screen for about 1-2 minutes. I have no idea what might be causing this and I want to fully experience my SSD's capabilities. I miss being able to reboot in a matter of seconds instead of minutes. My SSD is doing great, it doesn't seem to be failing at all, still super fast after the boot. I've tried googling it but its kind of a catch all and most things I find are windows hanging indefinitely during boot.

Windows 7 Takes Several Minutes To Boot?

Dec 22, 2011

My computer does not run smoothly, and I cannot figure out why. My computer takes upwards of five minutes to reboot, with several minutes on the "Windows is Shutting Down" screen and several minutes on the initial boot. The delay even includes starting the computer in Safe Mode.Additionally, I am having tremendous amounts of graphical problems while running any game I have on my machine, including Rig N' Roll, Nascar 2003, Max Payne, and Skyrim (even on the lowest settings). Random discolored shapes will appear and stretch throughout the screen. Black lines show up and the graphics are so unbearable that I cannot play any games functionally. For example, when going through the very beginning of Skyrim, the screen would turn almost completely white and stayed that way until I exited to desktop.

The graphical problems are not only in games, as even browsing on the internet can cause random thin horizontal black lines to appear across the screen. The lines remain even if I shut off my monitor and turn it on again, so the monitor does not appear to be the problem.I have run full scans in safe mode of Malwarebytes and Symantec Endpoint Protection Antivirus, with no detections of virus, spyware or malware. I don't know what else to do.I have the most recent (as of today) Windows updates with the exception of one. The update of KB 911895: Other Hardware - HID Non-User Input Data Filter, refuses to update.

PC Suddenly Extremely Slow At Boot, Starting Windows Takes For Ever

Oct 19, 2012

The problem started 3 days ago when I was playing World of Warcraft and I was alt-tabing (nothing special, just ordinary stuff). After a load screen, where the game normally starts loading stuff, the alt-tabing was inresponsive and while I was in desktop, clicking WoW icon had no effect, like I wasn't clicking it. Soon I realized Firefox wasn't working as intended, so I pressed the reset button on my case. The pc gave me an error that, if i remember correctly, was that no boot device found. I played a little with plugging-unplugging my USB devices and the problem fixed after about 10 minutes. All good since yesterday afternoon.

So yesterday I got the exact same problem while I was playing an another game, but still at loading screen. The computer boots (from zero) very slow, even getting to "Starting Windows" screen takes a minute, and until I see the windows icon (the one about the SW text) 15 minutes pass. I left home and left the pc at that icon, and when I was back it was at login screen (weird because I only have 1 account without password so I don't ever get there). I pressed my account icon and after around 10 seconds (notice the time for just pressing a button) I got the "Welcome" screen, with the circle moving smoothly. I tried to use my Windows installation disc to find a boot problem, however it takes for ever to find a problem. Also tried booting in safe mode, but it takes a long time to load (haven't left it enough hours to load, I think it got stuck at some point).

My initial thought was of course a HDD failure. I have tried removing the ram sticks, unplugged everything but the DVI cable, played a little with the HDD sata cables, but nothing. The only thing I haven't tested is PSU.All the few operations I have managed to see (like the SW screen or the clicking) take a huge amount of time. I suspect it might not be a boot, or even HDD related, error but something else. The problem so far is the speed. The only thing I have seen to be working normally is navigating in the BIOS menu (which is graphical, I have an Asus motherboard). Also notice that just before I manually rebooted my PC, alt-tabing was inresponsive (not crashing, just very slow probably).

** EDIT ** : chkdsk reported no bad sectors

Takes 10 Minutes To Boot

Dec 14, 2009

I'm not sure if this is the ISO (doubt it) or my hardware (more likely).

I have motherboard: Gigabyte GA-MA785GM-US2H
BIOS version F2 (updated today 12/12/2009)

CPU: AMD Athlon II X2 245
RAM: ddr2 800, 4GB (2x2GB)
Windows: 7 Ultimate 64bit
Video: GeForce 8800 GT 512MB, PCI-Expressx16 -- latest driver
from nvidia (downloaded today 12/12/2009)
Monitors: two (2) 19" Widescreen LCD. One is DVI, another is VGA+adapter=DVI.

Problem:
Win7 setup (install) -> first restart -> bios finished -> blank/black screen for 10 minutes (or so)... then win7 loads and resumes fine.
This 10-min delay happens every time win7 restarts. Note that this happens even initial setup/install, no other programs installed yet.

Previous OS: Windows XP Pro 32bit, SP2. No problem with booting.

I have tried unplugging one monitor, switching, using the onboard ... all with same result.

Can anyone help me, I'm desperate -- about to ditch win7 and go back to XP pro.

Computer Takes About 7 Minutes To Boot?

Feb 1, 2012

I recently installed a WD 15k Raptor hard drive and my computer now takes about 7 minutes to boot up, it gets stuck at the starting screen, where no hard drive action will happen, then 7-8 minutes later there will be loads of activity then will start up, ive tried narrowing it down, by removing the old hard drive (because im using the other old hard drive that had the OS on for media) and just running the new one, but no luck, I also tried reinstalling Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit on my old hard drive, which had no problems before, but the same effect, takes 7-8 minutes to boot. Ive even tried removing any new hardware I installed before it, but still the same problem, Ive asked a lot of people and Ive had various solutions, but no effect, I think its to do with the power supply, or the SATA cable and power addapter I purchased for the new hard drive. Ive also tried booting in safe mode, and it still takes the same time to boot.Computer spec:Processor: i7 870RAM: 8GBGPU: AMD Radeon HD6870HDD: WD 15k 300GB Raptor HDD, WD 5400 1TB HDDPSU: 500W

Pc Takes Longer To Restart Then To Boot?

Jul 6, 2011

Let me explain, I just noticed that when I restart my pc, the restart precess seems to hang at the motherboard screen for more then 3 times the time it does when I boot the pc from being switched off(a good 15-20 seconds at Mobo screen on restart).

The problem is I think it only started doing this after I accidentally uninstalled a hard drive driver and the pc shut down(and I think restarted). The hard drive seems fine now, the driver was reinstalled, I'm just a little concerned I could have caused a problem, or is this normal?

So the question is simple, Is it normal for a pc to take longer(at least 3 times) at the motherboard screen when you restart then when you boot up from an off position. If the answer is no then I suspect it could be something I've done to it, as I never noticed it taking that long before.

My basic pc spec is:

i5 2500
assus h67
8gb ram
560ti

I just checked, when I start up the pc normally it stays on motherboard screen for 6 seconds, when I restart it stays on the screen for 24 seconds.

OS Takes A While To Boot, Access Other Drive

Sep 1, 2012

Recently installed Windows on a SSD, very satisfied with its performance so far.

However, sometimes, Windows will take an unusually long time to boot, it will just sit there, and then I will hear my mechanical hard drive (data drive, no OS files installed on it, connected via a different SATA port) spin up, and at that point the Log in screen will appear.

I'm curious as to why it needs to access the data drive at all, there is no System Reserved partition on it, and no Windows files as far as I can see. I have attempted to keep it as a purely data storage drive.

Windows Has A Critical Error And Will Reboot In 1 Minute

Jun 9, 2012

Just this afternoon, I went to use my PC and got the following error; Windows has experienced a critical error and will restart in 1 minute. Running Windows 7 64 bit....With automatic updates so it should be the latest version of Windows...

My anti virus (Avira 2012 Internet Suite) pops up and states I have 2 viruses. But before the AV can do anything (delete the files) Windows shuts down....I finally got into Safe Mode and tried running my AV, while it was scanning I then got a BSOD. Had to start all over again; Running MalwareBytes now before trying to do the AV scan, just to see if MalwareBytes catches anything.

I have uninstalled the only application I've installed in 3 months, and problem still persists... I have a Hijackthis log if it needs to be viewed...Just let me know and I'll upload it.

Mac And Windows 7 Networking Searches For About A Minute And Then Returns Nothing?

Sep 19, 2012

I have a home network, based around a wireless router which our internet is distributed by. The connection is fine for internet but not great for file sharing.I take a lot of pictures and save them all on my desktop pc. This is sadly a windows machine running Windows 7. I have been using this for a good few years, it has an internal RAID5 array which I store the images on.I am not looking to access these files from my mac using a faster interface than the wireless which is already set up. My mac has a gigabyte ethernet port as does my desktop. I have purchased a crossover cable to save buying a switch.I have set up file sharing on the wireless network which work albiet very slowly by looking on the network on my mac, waiting till my windows machine appears, logging on using my normal credentials and having access to my files.

If I try and make the mac use the wired connection instead by going to the finder Go>Connect to a Server and then typing in 192.168.0.100 for example in searches for about a minute and then returns nothing. I can ping the machine and get a response. From what I can diagnose myself is that the unidentified crossover cable network is not liked by windows at all and won't allow sharing of files. This is just an inkling though.

Windows 7 Black Screen Appearing Withing A Minute Of Start Up?

Mar 11, 2012

My promblem is, I shut down my computer earlier in the afternoon yesterday. I come back and turn it on and after running a minute or two, the fans are going like crazy and screen goes black, monitor goes to sleep. I manually hold down the power button, restart and choose the option to repair. Once again, after a minute or so fans start running hard, blacked out screen, monitor goes to sleep. My husband has tried F8 and we've tried going back to a restore point. It will start and sound normal, but when the fans start to run hard we know the screen will go black.Opinions from various people I know and from websites are stating it's my ATI Radeon graphics card. We've even tested the RAM, yet within those two minutes after start up, monitor goes black and states no signal or it's sleeping. We've also tried numerous monitors, just for sake of process of elimination.
