I bought windows 7 professional because I wanted the xp option. I expected to keep all important stuff. Installation to upgrade Vista home premium required the installation to be full rather than upgrade. No warning was given that I would loose all my email contacts and messages. Is there any way to recover them?
I upgraded from Vista to Windows 7 with no problem. A pop up did mention that I would not be able to use windows mail but did advise my setting and files would still be able to be used. I now have Outlook running but can find no way forward to find all my previous emails.
Is there a way to forward email messages in Windows Live Mail WITHOUT turning them into an attachment? I want to forward the message as an actual message--this gives me the option of editing it before I send it.
We have a new computer and now our email messages from two of our addresses are duplicated. The third address seems OK. We receive emails on gmail, read them on Windows Live Mail. We need to see all accounts at one time and on two devices.
I have two email accounts. One is MSN and the other is Verizon. I view both on emails on Windows Live Mail or on my MSN account. I get the emails OK, but on my Verizon emails I received the email messages on both my Verizon address and my MSN address. I do not want my Verizon emails to come to my MSN address. I am using Windows 7.
I am running Windows 7 and had problems where user profile service would not load. I followed instructions saying to open in safe mode and delete profile files ending .bak via the regeditor. Now it boots up but all the user information is gone, desktop icons etc. The worst is all my microsoft outlook messages which contained hundreds of important messages. I can't seem to find the pst file.I'm assuming it's on the computer somewhere? I've done a search of the computer for *.pst and haven't found anything

I just purchases a new DELL desktop system that runs Windows 7 and the newest version of Windows mail. My ISP is Comcast. Since using this Windows mail, people with email accounts on verizon.net and optonline.net do not receive my email messages when sent thru Windows mail. If I send these people the same message thru Comcast webmail the message is received by these people. Email accounts on yahoo, gmail, and various other servers can receive the messages. This leads me to conclude that there is something that Windows mail is doing to the outgoing message that is causing it to be rejected by certain servers
I am now using Mozilla Thunderbird on my Dell Win7 laptop, but I am unable to open hyperlinks inside website email messages, either by left-clicking or right-clicking to open the link in browser. That email account is not used very often, but I believe the "open-link" function did work once upon a time.
I wish to move email messages from one Windows 7 computer to another using easy transfer. Can someone tell me exactly what I need to tick to do this? The 'new' computer already has Windows Live Mail in use.
Just got a call from a friend who recently bought a new laptop running Win 7. He says he was originally able to get to his email (presumably through a selection on his browser) but something changed and he can no longer find a way to access his email. The friend has little or no technical knowledge, so most of my questions resulted in an "I dunno" response.
I plan to visit him tonight for a look-see. I am not up to date with Win 7 features. Is OE still used for mail in Win 7? I use Thunderbird myself, and found it works well in Win 7. Do not know what mail prog. is now a MS standard with Win 7.I will try get more info and to dope things out on my visit. If we know his provider and email ID do you think we can get to his existing account and set up things so he can once again get is Email?
New to Windows 7, I'd like to gain some screen space by hiding the Bing bar and seeing only the Google screen. But then there is no email icon. My email is from Outlook.com, with an @msn.com address. Is there a way to add an icon to the Google screen so I can go to my email with a single click?
Is there a way to find the Activation Key off the file or disk on a download student version where a full install erased the Email before the Key was written down.
I sent myself an email with a word document attached. I did this so I could finish the editing at home. I opened the attachment, edited the word document, then saved it when prompted when I closed the document. Where did I save the document? I can't find it.
I purchased an HP laptop running Vista just when Windows 7 was coming out. It included a coupon to upgrade to Windows 7. I ordered the upgrade disks.I finally ran the upgrade to Windows 7 including performing the suggested backup of all my files on a separate hard drive. The instructions indicated that I would be saving my email and contacts that was a part of Windows Mail. Now that I am running Win 7, I don't have access to Windows Mail and I don't know where my email files might reside. What can I do now to gain access to my old emails and contracts?
If I install the update, I lose my complete e-mail address/contact list. If I don't install the update I can't open my Live Mail at all. I miss Outlook Express SO much! I'm a senior and I don't need Live Essentials bells and whistles.
Before upgrade I had a max screen size of 1280 x 800, and if I set to a smaller size, the image still filled the screen. This size is of course WXGA . Since upgrade I have a max of 1028 x 768 which does not fill the screen, and if I choose a smaller one,e.g. 800 x 600, the image visibly shrinks still further. I am told that I may need a new driver ; now the machine specification, and the label on the machine say the graphics is Nviidia GeForce Go 7400 GPU , but when I look at Device Manager it says that the Display adaptor is " Standard VGA Graphics Adaptor" Have I somehow ( in the upgrade) lost the Nvidia set and gone to something else on the motherboard ? how can I get my full screen back ?
I have a HP Touchsmart 300-1060a (Home Premium Windows 7 64 BIT) which I bought few years back. Now for the last 6 months or so I started getting issues with my machine was not displaying anything at all after turning it on. So I had to hard reset my power from the machine and then was able to see it started displaying again. At first I suspected graphic card (NVIDIA GEFORCE) but then I did my diagnostic test and nothing was found. One day, I started re-imaging my machine as a fresh and then after this it never came back ONLINE. I read all HP forums & even HP Online support was unable to help me to find the cause.Because when I turn on my machine I can see the power light was on and could hear big fan noise but mo HDD activity at all.So at this stage, I suspected either motherboard or BIOS but wasn't 100% sure what could be the real cause because I was sure it was not due to graphic card.So first I re-setted by my BIOS to see if it helps but it didn't came up at all. So then I took my machine to a Computer repair shop (a friend of mine) and we detected it could be due to the regulator which supplies power to the CPU and motherboard. So we replaced that part and now my HP Touchsmart is running fin since then. But I have lost my HP Startup logo with options such as below: [code]
I often want to send an email attachment from my desktop or other directory. When I right click on the file, and click send to email recipient, i get an error telling me no email program is associated to perform this action.I don't have any stand alone email program s installed. I strictly use web based email (gmail & hotmail) as my mail programs. I do not wish to install a stand alone program such as outlook or Thunderbird. How can I associate my request to email to a recipient to automatically go to my web based email platform (gmail or hotmail) and send the mail?I cant seem to find a hack or a small program to install to tell Windows 7 to use my web based email as my program!
I've been running XP for some years and recently set up Win 7 on a new SSD. In XP and using Opera browser, if I clicked on an web page's email link, my email client (Sylpheed) would open with the address inserted. With Win 7 and the email defaults set, it won't. Instead, it always returns an "Internal communication error" page (example link: Contact Us | PCWorld). Below are screenshots of my Win 7 email defaults and Opera preferences setting. One thing I'm not sure about, if it's at all relevant, is where Opera is picking up the default application from. In XP, it picked up Opera email as the default. The Other Application file location shown is exactly the same in both, except for the drive letter.
I have Windows 7 64-bit pro with Outlook 2010 installed on a Dell laptop. Is there a way to configure Outlook email to sync with my work email? Activesync works perfectly on my phone so that portion of the network is open at my work. I have been doing some reaserch and in order to get Outlook to sync with Exchange Server without VPN, RPC over HTTP or Outlook Anywhere must be enabled on the network. I know for a fact that our IT department have that portion disabled.
