I bought windows 7 professional because I wanted the xp option. I expected to keep all important stuff. Installation to upgrade Vista home premium required the installation to be full rather than upgrade. No warning was given that I would loose all my email contacts and messages. Is there any way to recover them?
View 2 RepliesI upgraded from Vista to Windows 7 with no problem. A pop up did mention that I would not be able to use windows mail but did advise my setting and files would still be able to be used. I now have Outlook running but can find no way forward to find all my previous emails.

Is there a way to forward email messages in Windows Live Mail WITHOUT turning them into an attachment? I want to forward the message as an actual message--this gives me the option of editing it before I send it.

I followed instructions saying to open in safe mode and delete profile files ending .bak via the regeditor.Now it boots up but all the user information is gone, desktop icons etc. The worst is all my microsoft outlook messages which contained hundreds of important messages. I just purchases a new DELL desktop system that runs Windows 7 and the newest version of Windows mail. My ISP is Comcast. Since using this Windows mail, people with email accounts on verizon.net and optonline.net do not receive my email messages when sent thru Windows mail. If I send these people the same message thru Comcast webmail the message is received by these people. Email accounts on yahoo, gmail, and various other servers can receive the messages. This leads me to conclude that there is something that Windows mail is doing to the outgoing message that is causing it to be rejected by certain servers

New to Windows 7, I'd like to gain some screen space by hiding the Bing bar and seeing only the Google screen. But then there is no email icon. My email is from Outlook.com, with an @msn.com address. Is there a way to add an icon to the Google screen so I can go to my email with a single click?

Since upgrade I have a max of 1028 x 768 which does not fill the screen, and if I choose a smaller one,e.g. 800 x 600, the image visibly shrinks still further. View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a HP Touchsmart 300-1060a (Home Premium Windows 7 64 BIT) which I bought few years back. Now for the last 6 months or so I started getting issues with my machine was not displaying anything at all after turning it on. So I had to hard reset my power from the machine and then was able to see it started displaying again.At first I suspected graphic card (NVIDIA GEFORCE) but then I did my diagnostic test and nothing was found.One day, I started re-imaging my machine as a fresh and then after this it never came back ONLINE. I read all HP forums & even HP Online support was unable to help me to find the cause.Because when I turn on my machine I can see the power light was on and could hear big fan noise but mo HDD activity at all.So at this stage, I suspected either motherboard or BIOS but wasn't 100% sure what could be the real cause because I was sure it was not due to graphic card.So first I re-setted by my BIOS to see if it helps but it didn't came up at all. So then I took my machine to a Computer repair shop (a friend of mine) and we detected it could be due to the regulator which supplies power to the CPU and motherboard.So we replaced that part and now my HP Touchsmart is running fin since then.But I have lost my HP Startup logo with options such as below: [code]

When I right click on the file, and click send to email recipient, i get an error telling me no email program is associated to perform this action.I don't have any stand alone email program s installed. I strictly use web based email (gmail & hotmail) as my mail programs. I do not wish to install a stand alone program such as outlook or Thunderbird. In XP and using Opera browser, if I clicked on an web page's email link, my email client (Sylpheed) would open with the address inserted. With Win 7 and the email defaults set, it won't. Instead, it always returns an "Internal communication error" page (example link: Contact Us | PCWorld). Below are screenshots of my Win 7 email defaults and Opera preferences setting. One thing I'm not sure about, if it's at all relevant, is where Opera is picking up the default application from. In XP, it picked up Opera email as the default. The Other Application file location shown is exactly the same in both, except for the drive letter.

Activesync works perfectly on my phone so that portion of the network is open at my work. I have been doing some reaserch and in order to get Outlook to sync with Exchange Server without VPN, RPC over HTTP or Outlook Anywhere must be enabled on the network. I know for a fact that our IT department have that portion disabled.
