Lost Software And Hardware After Windows 7 Install
Mar 27, 2011
I have recently bought a samsung rv511 s01 laptop. Last night I had an issue when I opened the web browser. All I got was a blank white screen. When I opened Norton internet security it didn't open correctly. With not being used to windows 7 and only using it for about a week I thought the best thing to do would be use the recovery disk that came with the laptop. I thought it would just reset the computer to an earlier day, not so. It did a full install of windows 7, now I have no access to the internet, webcam, or any of the functions that were on the computer before hand. The recovery disk doesn't have the drivers for any of the hardware on it. All the pre installed software has vanished also. So the question is where do I go now to get the machine back to the way it was when I bought it?
After the IE9 install and a restart the Windows Scan and Fax program is no where to be found. It'snot in the programs list or in the windows turn on or off list.
I am useing win 7 ultimate 64 bit and I never made rescue cd I do have, files backed up on carbonite but no hard copy. I installed sp1 but got a fatal area code (C000009A ) and instructed to,insert instalation cd to corect witch is the point I have no idea what I did with it. How do I get another cd, a boot cd, or,restore win 7 ultimate to factory setting.
I have a Dell Latitude C600 laptop that had been running Windows XP, system crashed, (unmountable boot volume problem) so I installed Windows 7 Pro. install fine after reformatting. But now I have no sound & no connections. Says unable to locate network adapter, controller , Ethernet, PCI CardBUs drivers not found. Tried to install Zoom x6 modem but laptop can't find it.
i got a problem in loosing D Drive after install win 7. when i check disk manager,,the partition seems like hidden(but all the previous data is exist). as a solution i create a new partition. I thing its happen because of false during installing the win 7.
Yesterday, I just reinstall fresh windows 7. After I install the OS, I just realize that my recycle bin is empty. Before I installed windows 7, some of my deleted files on my other hard disk is there. But now, I could not find it anymore. After that, I tried to select show hidden folder, files, and drives and unsellect hide protected operating system files on folder options. I try to browse to one of my hard disk, which has the deleted files on recycle bin before, then I found it the recycle bin icon there as well (For instance, the path of the drive is: N:$RECYCLE.BIN). I tried to look at the properties, and I found that the missing size of the deleted files was on there. The problem is I cannot access it. When I tried to open the recycle bin, it just empty. I need some help with this. How do I retrieve the files again to the OS recycle bin, not the hard disk recycle bin? Is it possible to access it again? I really need those files back.
I have recently installed 7 and find the OS great so far. Much faster than Vista . One problem i am suffering is that I have lost both my DVD drives. When I look in Hardware I can see them - they both have a yellow exclamation mark and that the digital signatures are not signed. I cannot play or record from them. how to make the drives show in Explorer and make them operational?
I have lost the ability to dual boot after installing windows XP.
I Originally had windows XP. I partitioned the drive in order to install windows 7. Installed windows 7 fine, no problems, was able to dual boot. After getting data from XP partition. I decided to do a clean install of xp. After doing that my machine only boots into XP, I no longer have the dual boot option.
I have tried booting off the windows 7 dvd and 'repair computer'. It said it found some problems and fixed them. Rebooted, still only booted into XP. Tried booting off DVD again ran 'Startup Repair option' Again, said it fixed some things, still only boots into XP.
I also tried EasyBCD and it said it fixed the problems, but everything is still the same. I can only boot into windows xp. No dual boot.
My boot.ini, ntldr and ntdetect are all on partition that has windows 7 installed.
Saw the posts about Vistabootpro but wanted to make sure i went that route before i purchased it and wanted to make sure of the correct steps to follow.
I have a HP Touchsmart 300-1060a (Home Premium Windows 7 64 BIT) which I bought few years back. Now for the last 6 months or so I started getting issues with my machine was not displaying anything at all after turning it on. So I had to hard reset my power from the machine and then was able to see it started displaying again. At first I suspected graphic card (NVIDIA GEFORCE) but then I did my diagnostic test and nothing was found. One day, I started re-imaging my machine as a fresh and then after this it never came back ONLINE. I read all HP forums & even HP Online support was unable to help me to find the cause.Because when I turn on my machine I can see the power light was on and could hear big fan noise but mo HDD activity at all.So at this stage, I suspected either motherboard or BIOS but wasn't 100% sure what could be the real cause because I was sure it was not due to graphic card.So first I re-setted by my BIOS to see if it helps but it didn't came up at all. So then I took my machine to a Computer repair shop (a friend of mine) and we detected it could be due to the regulator which supplies power to the CPU and motherboard. So we replaced that part and now my HP Touchsmart is running fin since then. But I have lost my HP Startup logo with options such as below: [code]
A family member of mine downloaded something that I'm assuming had malware on it [twas from an ad on the side of a website...chances are great]. When the computer was shut down and then turned back on..voila..Windows failed to start. I tried to do startup repair but it could not fix the issue. I cannot access the System Recovery options because there is a password apparently that NO one remembers putting on the desktop, so we can't access it. It went from being able to access startup repair..to the computer taking forever to boot to the "starting windows" screen just for another black screen to appear that says to insert something to boot from. [No, I didn't press F12 or anything to cause this to appear]. The computer seems to be getting worse. I've tried to even do a clean install of Win7, but now all of a sudden my drivers are missing and cannot be found. I've tried downloading them from this website: [URL]
I have lost of the ability to recreate a admin id it takes one already there to create it but I have lost ownership to my whole PC...is there a way to create a account/user admin scene haven't any backups from this year.
Yesterday all of a sudden I lost all sound from my computer, I am running Windows 7 Home Edition. I have done all the checks and it seems to be working, but I still have no sound. I have a High Definition Audio Device and everything tells me it is working ok, also I have checked all the cables.

A friend of mine has lost his password for his laptop. He has 3 users set up on the laptop and decided to use the same password on all 3. He then forgot it. I have tried to use safe mode but it still asks me for a password. He doesn't have a password reset disk.I'm looking for some software to maybe rest it or delete the password.
I have a new Samsung RV511 l/top. Coming from XP I wasn't familiar with Autoplay & it popped up all the time so I read on the MS website that it could be disabled, which I did, hoping that when I inserted a DVD or attached my camera I would get a wizard or a 'run' box/instructions of some sort but nothing happened. So I re-enabled Autorun, set everything to 'ask me everytime' but nothing happens at allnow when I insert a DVD ot attach my camera. It was only disabled for 5 mins
I was having problems with my laptop being very slow and was trying to do a full system restore. I didnt have the battery in when i tried to do the restore and unfortunately half way through the charger came out and switched the laptop off. i turned it back on and it says i had to insert my windows disc which i dont have. it wont let me do anything else now. ive tried downloading windows to disc but when it gets back to the restore page it says i need to have the windows installation disc and wont let me restore from an earlier time as these have all been erased. its a dell inspiron n5030, with windows 7.
I normally have shortcuts to various folders pinned to my Windows Explorer icon on my toolbar, but sometimes these disappear. Right now is one of those times. All I have are "frequent" folders, without any of my pinup shortcuts.
I bought this roughly a year ago PB Tech - NBKLEN1252535B : LENOVO IdeaPad G570 Sandy Bridge i5-2410M 2.3GHz 8GB (4Gx2) DDR3 640GB 15.6" ATI HD6370M 1G DEDICATED VGA BT2.1 2.0MP HD Webcam 802.11n DVDRW HDMI Win7 Home Premium 64bit 6Cell I re-installed Windows 7 Home Premium yesterday and discovered I lost all my drivers and device management/disk management/computer manage etc shows no manufacturers name for each driver needed. tell me which drivers I need for my laptop to be running as good or as close to new as possible by what's just listed on the website?Note- I don't even have ethernet card driver!
I have a Sony Vaio VPCEB 15-FA. Everything works fine on Linux but, I need to run Windows 7 for some new required work. When I load the 7 the system does not recognize the cd drive. It works fine under Linux. I have reformatted, loaded Windows 7 only etc but, it still does not work.
I assumt that the Linux made firmware changes to my cd drive that need to be reset.
I recently did a fresh install on my gf's computer as it was suddenly unable to establish an online connection. The error showed in the connection status as the small yellow warning icon at the top left of the connection status icon, not the big red X that appears when the machine isn't connected at all.
Here are the specs:
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate x64 Mobo: Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R Rev.1 CPU: Intel i7 950 RAM: 12GB Corsair Dominator GT 2000mhz The system is also not overclocked.
After trying many things (reinstalling network drivers, flushing DNS, trying a different ethernet cable, restoring all network settings to default) I gave up and did a fresh installation.
After installation, I installed all the usual official drivers, then performed a Windows update, but only the important updates. The connection was back! I then decided to install some optional stability updates, and after reboot, the network problem was back.
I did a system restore to before I installed the optional updates, but the problem persists. I have no idea which optional update is causing this, or which one to remove first to avoid creating more errors.
I recently installed Windows 7. During installation, there will automatically be a user with administrative privileges. After completing, i created another "Standard User" as I wanted to limit other users for accessing all things. Then i opened the Built in Administrator account (net user administrator /active:yes). I deleted the account that i had created during installation of windows. Then I disabled the original administrator account (net user administrator /active:no)Now i only have Standard user account. whenever I try to open anything 'as an administrator', there will be a prompt in dimmed screen, asking for administrator password and click to yes; but there is not any place to enter the password.
I'm currently in India and cannot get the disk shipped here for obvious reasons. HP India does not have the recovery disks and suggested I contact HP USA. HP USA said that they cannot ship to India.
I know how to burn an iso and install the OS but the greater issue is how do I validate my windows my key mentioned on the windows coa sticker?
I've recently installed Windows 7 Professional on my Dell Latitude D810. After the install, I lost all audio capabilities. My volume controller in the quick launch bar states, "No Audio Output Device is installed." I ran the "Detecting Problems" to try and fix the drivers, but it wasn't able to fix it.
My next step was to check the Dell Drivers and Downloads website and they don't have an audio driver for my computer with Windows 7; however, I've read on other websites that people have had no audio issues with installing Windows 7 on their Latitude D810s. Others have claimed to have had issues, but to have been able to find drivers to fix their audio problems.
Through various websites and downloading, I've tried the following driver executables: D810_A05.exe, R99254.exe, and S1wua01i.exe.
Does anyone else have any other driver recommendations? Or links to other drivers I can at least try?
Another lost genuine problem. Booted the computer and Windows suddenly isn't genuine. This is a clean install done from Vista Ultimate (done a few months ago). I tried typing the key back in, would not accept it. I tried calling Microsoft but the automated system is so horrible it could not understand my "yes" and "no". MGA Diag tool results: Code: Diagnostic Report (1.9.0027.0).
