Yesterday all of a sudden I lost all sound from my computer, I am running Windows 7 Home Edition. I have done all the checks and it seems to be working, but I still have no sound. I have a High Definition Audio Device and everything tells me it is working ok, also I have checked all the cables.

View 1 Replies View RelatedAll this happened suddenly, I was playing Counter strike and I could hear the back grounds but the dialogues and gunshots could not be heard. After that when I tried some movies, All the dialogues had been gone. I could hear the background music and background sounds but the midtones had been gone.
I tried many media players and different files but all had same results. The funny thing is The audio files are working all right only the video files have the problem. I tried restarting, Tried diff video files and diff players including VLC, Windows media player etc.
I recently purchased a new computer with operating system Windows 7. I had sound until I downloaded the drivers for Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse. I am at a loss as to how to get my sound back and continue using the keyboard/mouse.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a HP Touchsmart 300-1060a (Home Premium Windows 7 64 BIT) which I bought few years back. Now for the last 6 months or so I started getting issues with my machine was not displaying anything at all after turning it on. So I had to hard reset my power from the machine and then was able to see it started displaying again.At first I suspected graphic card (NVIDIA GEFORCE) but then I did my diagnostic test and nothing was found.One day, I started re-imaging my machine as a fresh and then after this it never came back ONLINE. I read all HP forums & even HP Online support was unable to help me to find the cause.Because when I turn on my machine I can see the power light was on and could hear big fan noise but mo HDD activity at all.So at this stage, I suspected either motherboard or BIOS but wasn't 100% sure what could be the real cause because I was sure it was not due to graphic card.So first I re-setted by my BIOS to see if it helps but it didn't came up at all. So then I took my machine to a Computer repair shop (a friend of mine) and we detected it could be due to the regulator which supplies power to the CPU and motherboard.So we replaced that part and now my HP Touchsmart is running fin since then.But I have lost my HP Startup logo with options such as below: [code]

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy computer is a Windows 7 Home Edition, soundcard is a Realtek High Definition Audio. The volume level is at about 5% or less, it was working fine and all of a sudden I can't hear anything or I can barely hear. I can see the levels at max when I play something but I can't hear a thing. I have tried raising all the levels from every device all the way to the top I have changed the settings under Communications to > Do Nothing I have uninstalled the drivers and re-installed. Downloaded the driver from Realtek and re-installed and also uninstalled the driver and re-installed automatically using windows 7 wizard. I have checked for any errors in my sound card using Sound troubleshooter and everything seems to be OK with the sound card. As I said it was working fine and suddenly the levels dropped to 5% or less. It went up to like 50% one time for about 2 seconds last night but now I can't hear anything. When I restart windows I can hear my speakers activate or something like that, but no other sound, not even the starting windows sound.

When the computer was shut down and then turned back on..voila..Windows failed to start. I tried to do startup repair but it could not fix the issue. I cannot access the System Recovery options because there is a password apparently that NO one remembers putting on the desktop, so we can't access it. It went from being able to access startup repair..to the computer taking forever to boot to the "starting windows" screen just for another black screen to appear that says to insert something to boot from. [No, I didn't press F12 or anything to cause this to appear]. The computer seems to be getting worse. I wanted to formate my computer and clcikced on recovery manager etc. Then once I wanted to restart the computer which I did the comuter asked me for the recovery CD which I don't have anymore I tried to use my husbands recovery disk as he has the same comouter , but it won't work. I am desperate and dont know what to do. DOes anybody know if I can download this form somewhere on a usb or so and reinstall my computer? I installed sp1 but got a fatal area code (C000009A ) and instructed to,insert instalation cd to corect witch is the point I have no idea what I did with it. Coming from XP I wasn't familiar with Autoplay & it popped up all the time so I read on the MS website that it could be disabled, which I did, hoping that when I inserted a DVD or attached my camera I would get a wizard or a 'run' box/instructions of some sort but nothing happened. I didnt have the battery in when i tried to do the restore and unfortunately half way through the charger came out and switched the laptop off. i turned it back on and it says i had to insert my windows disc which i dont have. it wont let me do anything else now. ive tried downloading windows to disc but when it gets back to the restore page it says i need to have the windows installation disc and wont let me restore from an earlier time as these have all been erased. its a dell inspiron n5030, with windows 7.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Sony Vaio VPCEB 15-FA. Everything works fine on Linux but, I need to run Windows 7 for some new required work. When I load the 7 the system does not recognize the cd drive. It works fine under Linux. I have reformatted, loaded Windows 7 only etc but, it still does not work.
I assumt that the Linux made firmware changes to my cd drive that need to be reset.
