Login And Logout Times - Windows 7?
Apr 22, 2012
I am looking for a way to automatically log off a workstation at a certain hour of each day. I am running Windows STD Edition Server 2003 on my server and Windows 7 Ultimate on all of the workstations. I know how to restrict log in times but I cannot find a way to automatically log out a user that has used his workstation past the allowed time of day.

Windows 7 64bit At first I could not log in on my user account but on the admin account I could. Now I am at a point I cannot log in either. Before I reinstall my OS I want to attempt to at get it started up so I can backup up some emails at least. I have all the files I need. From reading on the Internets I may have attached some malware which changed a registry value which controls the login. I cannot remember the path anymore but i did did find it. Anyways, I just need to get to my desktop. As of right now I am looking at the login screens, I have tried the system repair with the Win7 DVD, and I think I can get on safe mode.

my yahoo email is taking too long to response on log out and then i get this message. The connection has timed out The server at [URL] is taking too long to respond The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments. If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network connection. If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.and i click try again it does the samething usually i have to click tryagain twice are go to my yahoo homepage and click my email and then logout again and usually after tha it logs out .I though maybe it was because i was using open DNS on my router so i switch to dynamic again but tha didn't help .

There's nothing wrong with my computer that I know of, just noticing these black flashes for some time now and thought I would finally seek information on why this could be happening. It happens everytime I turn on my computer, two black screen flashes at the login screen and another black flash in the main menu screen right after logging in.
p.s.
2x flash at the login screen
1x flash at main menu screen

I have a Microsoft Intellipoint 2000 usb mouse that has been working flawlessly for about 8 months, and a windows 7 laptop 64 bit. Recently however, the mouse would work at the login screen, but after I would login, it would stop working. Its drivers are up-to-date. It seems as though something changed recently that disables it after login, and if I reconnect it I sometimes get Error Code 43, and it says it is not recognized, then again, sometimes it will work flawlessly, until i put my computer to sleep.

PC: Eee PC 900HA
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 32bit
Disk: G.Skill Falcon 64GB SSD
So, long story short, I reformated my Eee PC because I couldn't run WEI after the first time. Boot times were great (a bar and a half at the 7 boot logo). However, I installed Daemon Tools Lite and this went up to 5 and a half bars while booting. I am speed obsessed. So, I uninstalled this software and boot times are the same. How can I fix this?

We installed/uninstalled 3 times the windows 7 ultimate -64bit on our desktop only in one day! (activated every times. The reason is long story, and we did not have another way). Anyway, for the 4th time, we had product key problem: The product key is not valid. Do you think are we limited to few times of installation/uninstallation?

I HATE the various icon views. I'd like Win7 to ONLY use details view. It's annoying when Win7 reverts to icon view when I'm saving a file, or when I'm inserting an image in Word.Where can I tell Win7 to use only details view at all times and in all situations?

I recently built a new rigAMD FX6100 cpuASUS M5A88-M board8 GB Ram500GB Western Digital HDand it seemed that windows was loading too slowly so I timed it at 2 Min 10 Sec from hitting the button to Windows being ready to use. Then I timed this machineHP Pavillion p6685lI5 760 Quad cpuMSI 1996 board ( customised and installed by HP )12 GB Ram1 TB Hitachi HDAnd it only took 1 Min 34 Sec. Still curious I timed the machine I regularly useDell Inspiron 530E4600 Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHzFoxconn G33 board ( ordered and installed by Dell )4GB Ram500GB Western Digital HDAnd surprise! It took 1 min 2 SecSeems backward to me. They all use the same version of windows and all have pretty much the same selection of software and start up options with gadgets and widgets. This doesn't even back up the hype about Intel cpus being better and faster than AMD unless we take the i5 out of the equation and try to believe that a five year old Core 2 Duo at 2.4 GHz can out perform one of AMD's latest and greatest the six core 3.3GHz FX6100. For the technically minded the Core 2 Duo data controller uses IDE but the other two use AHCI which only compounds the mystery.

Got a new hdd for the wifes laptop, installed windows 7 ultimate 64. Just to find out I typoed the user name at the beginning. Not wanting to be stuck with the registered user name i decided to reinstall the OS. To do my second install, I used gparted live to format my drives c partition, and d partition that Im planning to use for some backup stuff. Now when ever I turn the computer on, it brings up a screen in boot asking which OS i want to start. Both options are windows 7. how do I eliminate this issue without having to reinstall my OS, and reformat again?

i'm having a major issue with loading times on my windows 7 pc.every time i boot my pc it takes 5 mins or more for the hdd to stop loading files and for the computer to become responsive, after which it runs reasonably fast, but the hdd is always actively seeking. (it used to run near instantaneous but now it's taking it's sweet time and then some)i've tryed virus scans, spyware scans, i've also found and removed some stubborn malware i never knew existed.uninstalled old programs, cleared temps, disk chkd, dfrg, system restored, used msconfig and disabled any unneeded apps but there has been no improvement.

Every now and then, my computer BSODs, then restarts, but then it cannot boot into the drive that windows is installed in. It says that there is a broken windows installation and that I should use the Windows install disk to repair it. Thing is, I don't have a windows install disk because I'm using an .iso provided by my school.Anyway, after waiting some time or unplugging/plugging back the hard drive, it randomly successfully boots into windows again. I can't think of any reason why this would be...is this a software or hardware problem? My setup is Windows 7 on an SSD and Ubuntu on a standard hard disk, with Grub as my boot loader.I also looked in minidumps and there aren't any crash logs from when my computer BSOD'd, which is even weirder.

I used to have a program that makes this change but I can't figure out what its name was. I re-installed Windows 7 on my machine and forgot to save its installation file. It's a plain, all gray and squarish program, with a menu at the left and the corresponding options at the right pane. I has a lot of cool intuitive menus for everything one wants to change in Windows 7. I thought it was a TweakUI from Microsoft, but it looks like there's no such thing.I just tried a program called Ultimate Windows Tweaker but that's a different one that doesn't have the option written at the title, and is also less organized IMO.

i'm having some problems with windows 7 home premium 64 bit, on my sony vaio vpceb2c5e. i got my sony vaio laptop in november 2010 so it's not too old. upon booting up windows 7 on the 15th feb 2011, i noticed the time it took windows to be functional had drastically increased from the night before when it was loaded. i hadn't installed any programs on it over the past several weeks, and about the only things i had running were google chrome (watching videos on Internet), minecraft and msn messenger.now every time when i boot up and i've logged in, i have to wait 5-10 minutes or so before i can even start to load programs or connect to a network, otherwise windows seems to not load the program i double clicked and seems to stop loading anything, but the mouse and keyboard still work and a hard shut down (holding down the power button) is required.
i tested ubuntu on the vaio and it seems to load fine, i have even tested out windows 98 which also works fine (thus eliminating the possibility of a faulty hard drive), it's just windows 7 which had suddenly got a slow load up time for me. once i have waited a long time windows seems to work fine and i can run and open everything i want, as quick as i would normally do prior to this problem.

I upgraded from Vista to 7 on my old motherboard which was successful. I then upgraded to a new motherboard so a clean installation had to be done by calling up Microsoft which was also successful. Both 32 bit versions. Now I want to do a clean install to 64 bit to take advantage of the extra RAM. Can I do this many installs? I still have the upgrade disc and product key. Also, with a previous clean install, all my old folders were compressed into a folder in the new install. Will this also happen when moving it to 64 bit? No changes to the hardware has been made.

I watch videos from this site Poker Netcast | Live At The Bike | LABTTheir login is https.Ive been in IT for 15 years and even this has stumped me.When I go to login in IE9 starts looping from the login page to the https page and back to the original page and never ends. I load firefox, same issue. I load Crome, it worked for 1 day then same issue. It used to login in fine last week. It logs in fine on my 2 other PCs and my Kindlefire.I have checked for viruses with Avast and A-Malware Bytes in safe mode - nothing. These 2 pick up 98% of stuff. Personally I dont think its a virusn IE9 - Deleted browsing history, cookies, temp internet files, everything under the Geneeral/Browsing History section. Did a disk cleanup, put the site inthe trusted zone, turned off popup blocker just in case, Cleared SSL state, Reset IE9. Zippo

I keep getting BlueScreen errors and the pc is restarting after I switched motherboards from a gigabyte p55-usb3 to a biostar t5xe cfx-sli. I kept all the same components except I added another gtx 470. Thermal paste was freshly applied all around, all the idle and load temps seem normal. 30c/50c cpu and 40c/85c gpu.
1. Installed Win 7 Prof 64 bit on freshly formatted hard drive
2. Installed Drivers from motherboard cd (Biostar T5XE CFX-SLI)
3. Ran Windows update for awhile, restarted a few times, installed other programs
4. While browsing the net the pc shutdown and gave me a prompt upon startup with a "problem event name: bluescreen"
It also gave me the locations of a dump and a system file which I have included in the Shutdown #1 file.
1. After reviewing the error and searching the web I had read that it could be a possible heat issue, which didn't make sense as the first time I was just browsing the web. Idle the CPU is 30c and the GPU (SLI) is 40c for each card.
2. I downloaded the Unigine Heaven benchmark and ran it
3. PC shutdown in the middle of the benchmark and gave me different results in the post shutdown message. Files are in the Shutdown #2 file.
I used arctic silver on the cpu and on the gpu's. Everything is connected tightly and the only other thing installed is a wireless pci card which should have no problem. I used to use the exact same components on a gigabyte board (p55-usb3). The only reason I installed the Biostar Motherboard was to install another GTX 470 and run SLI.Everything seems normal as far as temps, the pc isn't slow, etc.I just decided to turn it off to avoid any possible damage and take the files I grabbed and post on a forum. This seemed like a good place to continue.

my new windows install has suddenly started to take several minutes to shutdown. I only had a few programs installed when this started. I un-installed each program and did a registry clean to see if any of them was causing the issue, but nothing helped. All that are now installed are the motherboard drivers and such.
This is a list of what is still installed:
Etron USB3.0 Controler
Intel Control Center
Intel HD Graphics Driver
Intel Management Engine
Intel Rapid Storage
Realtek Ethernet
Realtek Audio Driver
I have gone through some things to try to determine what is causing the issue, but have had no success. I checked the shutdown performance logs, and there were allot of warnings. These just seemed to give the shutdown time, but no indication of what was causing the delay. This issue did not exist when I first installed. The computer has no internet connection at the moment, so I have not done windows update or anything like that. There is no possibility of their being a virus for the same reason. Before uninstalling the apps, I tried msconfig with selective startup (all boxes unchecked), and diagnostic startup and neither reduces the shutdown time.
