View 1 RepliesAll was well with my computer and one fine day video playback became very laggy and choppy. Also the computer in general slowed down considerably. My first thought was that there had been a virus attack and hence I ran a thorough scan. Nothing showed up. So formatted the whole system and installed Windows 8. Nothing changed. Videos continue to be laggy and overall system performance is slow. I read somewhere this could be because of high DCP latency caused by faulty drivers. I used the original Windows 7 backup DVD given to me by my laptop manufacturer to restore to factory default. No change - laggy video with slow system performance. I used the DCP latency checker to figure out what was causing the high values I was getting and pinned it down to the WiFi driver. The latency is down but choppy video playback and super slow OS continue to bother me. I've run out of options and my patience it's wearing thin.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI use a normal HP mouse, it has been working fine for ages but recently it now and then stops working for a few seconds and then works fine again. I play Call of Duty 4 so it is very annoying to lose because of that. I looked into my device manager and for some reason it shows up 2 mouse drivers. Just uninstalled both and plugged my mouse back in. I have done this before and the second mouse driver seems to be coming back all the time.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm using Windows 7 Ultimate with a 6-core AMD processor, 16GB RAM, SSD as primary. Whenever I transfer a large file over the network to another system the mouse and other applications will persistently hang for a second here and there as long as the transfer is in progress. I'm sending 8-10GB files over from the secondary 2TB 5400RPM drive and no resources are showing as maxed out so I don't get it. I'm thinking of trying a 3rd party file transfer solution again, but this still shouldn't be happening with the default.
View 5 Replies View Relatedlately i have been having alot of trouble with my pc, it crashes for about 0.5 seconds every 5 to 10 seconds and makes a weird buzzing noise which has different pitches depending on the sound of the video/game. this is only when viewing Internet videos or playing games. the games i play i am 100% sure i can handle with my pc since i have played them before this problem. if it helps, my graphics card is my brothers old graphics card which he didnt have any trouble with but my old graphics card (ati radeon hd 5670) was having a different kind of lag problem which made almost any game play slow, even 2d games. it can be stopped if i keep restarting my computer and in the end it will stop lagging for like an hour or so but then the lagging starts again please help! i will leave my computer specs below.

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy computer this week decided to be really slow. So slow in fact that as I am typing this message the words fall behind. Forget video just a garbled glitchy mess. I run win 7 clean install and firefox mostly. I have a Gateway NV52 4GB of ram but even scrolling the page down is glitchy. IDK the issue. I have scanned using Morcosoft items as well as avast not sure what else to do.

View 6 Replies View RelatedPast couple of months my computer has been slowing down/lagging. It seems to happen when I am streaming, sometimes it happens when I run a game. What it does is the screen completely freezes and the sound is like slowing down to make the voices/music incomprehensible. Sometimes it will recover and run normally again. Other times it will slow then completely stop working, in which time I have to hard shutdown the computer. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling both of my browsers, chrome and firefox. (And when I say uninstall I mean I did a complete wipe of all registry items and anything related to the programs). That seemed to work for about a month and then today my computer lagged then stopped working.

To reinstall windows 7 you just need the disk . Try updating your BIOS first your system should play crysis 2 smooth as butter . After that I would do a fresh install of window's 7 go into your BIOS select you dvd drive as first boot choice save and exit .put the cd in the drive and restart your pc don't forget to press enter !
View 1 Replies View RelatedBasically, when listening to music, every 30 seconds or so, the music distorts pretty bad and my mouse will skip across the screen. This may be unrelated, but in order to power on my computer, not only do I have to press the power button, I have to go to the back of the computer and toggle the power supply switch off/on very quickly in order for the computer to even boot.
View 1 Replies View RelatedAs of maybe a month or two ago my computer has been acting rather strange. The first thing I noticed is that now whenever I need to restart my computer (for updates, ect.) the screen will flash for a few seconds, return to normal, flash for another second or two, and then properly restart. Then a few weeks after that, I noticed my computer having trouble when I play games on my comp (I built my comp originally as a gaming rig).
After exiting games like Minecraft, Red Orchestra 2, Total War, or any of the other games I play, my computer will act sluggish for a few minutes after they close. It generally takes a minute or two until my comp seems to be back up to speed. Another thing is that my computer seems to have a difficult time closing my games, especially Red Orchestra 2. When I exit RO2 my comp will sit there at the game screen as if its frozen (I can't move my mouse or anything) and then finally exit the game.
Then, after exiting the game my comp screen will be all distorted and it will take another 10 seconds or so for the screen to return to normal. RO2 is definitely the worst when it comes to closing, all of the other games for the most part close fine, but my comp will still perform slowly after I exit any game. Normally, after I exited a game I could jump right in to my browser, start menu, or any other app if I wanted to.
Computer runs very slow. Computer freezes randomly. Does not want to boot past windows startup except for in safe mode(SOMETIMES). IF IT BOOTS takes and an incredibly long time to get to the desktop (20-45min). Does not want to run programs. Runs EXTREMELY slowly (makes a windows 95 pc look like a speed demon.) Random restarts, restart loops, and shutdowns. Sometimes after turning on it will immediately shut off then turn back on. Keeps recommending windows repair on startup. Wants to run chkdsk, then freezes on it.Malware detection programs. Hardware diagnostic programs. registry tools. disk defrags. Driver updates. Windows updates. BIOS update. System restore. Windows repair tool. Repair installation (twice). WINDOWS 7 CLEAN INSTALLATION (twice).Exactly the same as the first day it started happening. So not only did I lose all programs and files, but my pc still runs like crap. Also, this is a higher end pc under a year old. [code]
View 8 Replies View RelatedMy Gateway runs great until a restart is requested by me or a program. A few days ago, it would restart just fine.
When I select Restart, the computer appears to shut down fine, it beeps to restart, the Windows 7 screen begins to open but it freezes with three colored dots on the screen. It always stops in exactly the same place.
If I kill power, then boot again I get an offer for Windows to repair itself. If I let it, it cannot repair. If I select Boot Windows Normally, all is well. I can't tell there are any issues. Except for this one problem, things are really running well. Odd.
I've run Chkdsk, SFC/ SCANNOW, and PC Pitstop Optimize3. Nothing finds a problem or fixes anything.

I recently built an office computer for myself and it was working fine. I turned off the computer for the night but when i turned it back on, i was getting no image on the monitor. I can hear the PC running but the display is just black; i cant see it post or anything. Also lately its as if the computer keeps starting up and then restarting; i can hear the fans wind down and then start back upI switched out monitors but that was not the issue. I used a dvi instead of vga connector but still the problem persisted. I also reset the cmos but again to no avail. I'm using IntelHD Graphics 3000[CODE]
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy computer every so often runs very slow, mostly noticeable when I play a game or something, When the computer runs fine all games I play run very smooth and fast, but for some reason about once a month or so my computer runs very slow for a week or 2 at a time, the game play is very choppy and runs slow. Whenever this happens the first thing I always try is restarting the computer and run my anti malware programs but they never find anything and doesn't seem to do anything about this issue. Eventually it goes back to running at a normal fast speed, but I was hoping someone could tell me why it has those slow periods.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI upgraded from Vista to 7 on my old motherboard which was successful. I then upgraded to a new motherboard so a clean installation had to be done by calling up Microsoft which was also successful. Both 32 bit versions. Now I want to do a clean install to 64 bit to take advantage of the extra RAM. Can I do this many installs? I still have the upgrade disc and product key. Also, with a previous clean install, all my old folders were compressed into a folder in the new install. Will this also happen when moving it to 64 bit? No changes to the hardware has been made.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a PC with an AMD Athalon II x2 255 processor 3.11 GHZ, 4 gb of ram, ATI Radeon HD 5670 Graphics card running on windows 7 32 bit OS.Every time I startup the computer; whenever i try to do anything (access files or the Internet) it runs very slow and then eventually just freezes with the little blue circle just spinning around. Sometimes a browser window will open and I can access a page or a folder will open, but then it will eventually just run so slow it is practically frozen (with little blue circle still spinning).I think it might be linked to my wireless Internet, the little Internet icon in the bottom right hand task bar is just stuck searching for a signal every time i start up (even if I wait 10 minutes).I am using my laptop right next to the computer and it is picking up the wireless single fine.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI purchased a new laptop, and have been having numerous issues with windows 7, including the wireless internet being insanely slow. I've tried other wireless adapters to no avail, and every other computer in the house, be it wireless, or not runs perfectly, with the speed tests all running about the same, while this laptop runs at about 1/4 of the speed. I can only assume it's some sort windows settings, and not anything to do with the ISP or the router because of such.To add, and I don't know if this will be of any use, but while doing regular browsing, the speeds are fine, you can't really notice a slowdown. But when viewing videos or downloads, it tanks. I've noticed my download speeds start out, and stay at their max speed (about 1.1MBps) for say 5 seconds, only to sink to about 250-300KBps for the remainder.

Normally i run ping [URL] -t well my results constantly run over 100ms ping times while all of the rest of the computers on my network run around 40ms ping time. I have determined that it must have something to do with my computer. Here is a list of everything i have tried:
-Reinstall network card drivers (had no effect)
-Scan my computer with msert, Security essentials, spybot S&D (no results)
-Plugging a different computer into the same network cable (other computer worked fine)
-Boot in safe mode (had no effect, still getting bad ping times)
