View 11 RepliesI sent my computer out for repair under warranty for an LCD display replacement and it came back with a random white screen on boot. It is random and is not connected to anything previously attempted. 85% of the time it is OK, then out of no where when I boot it up white screen.
View 5 Replies View RelatedBasically this white screen (sometimes with blue lines running down sometimes without) has been appearing on startup. At first it just appeared in place of the windows logo before log in, but now it's appearing earlier on and the only way to bypass it is to hit the power button and hope it loads up properly. I've tried disabling/uninstalling the display driver and this has either (a) caused the laptop to crash to the white screen or (b) nothing, just back to white screen appearing at intervals.

My apologies if this is an old topic. I browsed a few likely-looking threads but did not immediately see what I was looking for.I have a Dell Inspiron PC which came with the Windows 7 operating system. If more details about my computer are necessary, a bit of direction I'm good at following directions but I'm by no means a computer wizard. When I start the computer it starts normally, no weird messages during startup. The logon screen shows up as normal, and I key in my password and tap enter. I see the word "Welcome" as usual, but it seems to be "thinking" much longer than normal before logging me on all the way. Instead of my normal background I see a completely white screen without any icons or taskbar. I can see my cursor though. After a moment or two, my regular background appears and all seems to be normal. I ran my virus scan (Webroot), and that came up with no results. Not sure what to do next.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI have several hours working on laptop that suddenly wont startup OS win 7. When I turn on laptop shows HP main logo (Press "ESC" key to enter start up menu) and after that shows a white dash flashing on the top left corner. I tried system repair disc, but it didnt work. I tried to restore system to an earlier point and didnt work either, it showed an error (0x8000ffff). I tried to restore to factory settings using F11 key but it only shows the white blinking. I already tried everything I found on the internet but no success.
View 8 Replies View RelatedWhen using my dell laptop, the screen will get quick tiny color lines and then go white blank and the only way to get it back up is to close my computer and wait about 2 minutes and sometimes I have to do this several times. This usually only happens if my computer is not plugged but also happens when it is just not as often.
View 1 Replies View Relatedwhen i'm on my computer, sometimes it just crashes and turns white or gray. the last time this happened, i had a bluetooth adapter (asus usb-bt211) plugged in from earlier in the day. i unplugged it and the screen immediately turned pitch black, presumably off.when this happens, i have absolutely no control over my computer. i cant open task manager or ctrl +alt+delete. i've searched this and so far i've only gotten that its a ram problem, but i don't think it is in my case. i say this because i have 8gb and i constantly have task manager open and i've never seen over 50% used (except when on a game or using something like a screen recorder, and it has never crashed while doing those things)the weird thing is.. and this may just be a coincidence, but Internet has been open every time it has crashed (10+ times).
View 6 Replies View RelatedMy windows 7 professional 32bit on my laptop has a problem. Everytime I turn it on, my laptop screen is white (and fades in some hints of black) and nothing shows up. However, sometimes I am able to get a display on an external monitor.
Before my computer loads my desktop it does a startup repair. What ends up happening is that it does a system restore and my computer is able to boot up normally on my external monitor (laptop screen still white). Once everything loads, my computer automatically looks for and installs a VGA controller driver (at this point I am suspecting something may be wrong with my graphics card because I no longer have the windows aero theme).
Once the VGA drivers are installed, my computer says it has to restart so that changes can be made. After the restart, everything is back to normal with my laptop screen working again and now I have the aero theme again. What is the problem? I've been trying to fix this for weeks. It should be noted that I can't always get the display onto my external so I have to keep on force restarting (holding onto the power button) until I can get it on the external.
I installed a new driver for my graphics card and it hasn't fixed the problem. I know there is a virus on my computer (file is tdx.sys). I am going to replace that file with a new one following some instructions from another forum but I don't want to do that yet because I am currently writing exams and not much of a tech savvy person. I don't want to mess around with system files until at least after my exams so I can back up everything.

View 1 Replies View RelatedLast week I was on the internet on my Dell Studio laptop. I opened a new tab and all of a sudden the entire screen was filled with a 'internet cannot display the page' page. I know this page appears when you are browsing the net and loose connectivity, however, after restarting my laptop, the home screen appears and a couple of seconds later disappears and the white page comes up. I canot access the menu bar or anything else when the page appears. I have pressed nearly every combination i can think of to get rid of it and it stays there. there is no 'x' box at the top to close it. The only thing that worked was when i pressed ctrl+alt+delete and this brought up the task manager option, however when i cliscked on start task manager it appeared for a second and then disappeared, like its going behind the white page.

I just picked up a used Samsung Series 3 Laptop and had an issue with the keyboard not working properly. While reinstalling some drivers the computer re-started itself and then proceeded to freeze on the "starting windows" screen. I tried to run the windows repair option, it boots into a green background which says'please wait'...well I waited and waited and nothing happened so I kept retrying it. Eventually I left this on for a half hour or so and it actually finally went into the windows repair option!
I chose to re install windows from the partition and thought everything was fine, it went through the downloading and installing of those files and restarted, froze on the 'Starting windows" screen. I left it there for 40 mins plus, thinking maybe it just needed time, the only thing it did was reset itself after 30 or so minutes and froze again. I tried going into Bios and resetting the defaults, I don't even care about the keyboard not working anymore, I just want to get the computer functioning again!
my laptop wont run past the start up screen! it freezes and then goes black. or if it restarts it goes to either lauch startup repair or safe mode. I have tried system restore, repair best last configuration. none have made a difference i am running it through safe mode at the moment as that is the only thing i can get on..i have no idea what else i can do!

When I restart it, fails to load and doesn't even show to startup screen, nothing, just a black screen. so, I must shut it down from the power button. And if I start it rapidly, it's possible to not start from the first try. I made a fresh install of the OS, nothing. Can this be a hardware problem?

View 1 Replies View Relatedfriends laptop that freezes after boot, win and safe mode, looks like a new malware.Screen goes white, CRL/ALT/DEL still brings up "security screen" but choosing "start task manager" sends you back to white screen. Screen has no icons or task areas but box is not realy frozen: mouse is visible and moves normaly. A custom sound is played on first press of CTL or ALT keys but displays nothing. After about 2 minutes the screen displays the desktop background for 2 seconds and return to blank white. The behavior started after the owner visited his home town paper website in BC canada. No way to gain control and make changes that will last after reboot.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm running Windows 7 64 bit. Following a recent restart, windows would load to a white desktop (or black in safemode) and a missing taskbar. The desktop, apart from being completely white, can't be interacted with (no drag and pull boxes). The taskbar is gone and the windows key won't bring up the start menu.I can still access the task manager and have used that to navigate through my documents and to access my web browser (hence my being here now). Because I can still access and run everything through the task manager and command window, I haven't lost any utility, but I'd like my taskbar and desktop back.

Recently I've been experiencing a white screen after I log in. It appears for about 2 minutes and then everything loads as normal, but everything does seem a little slow.

I have recently purchased an Acer Veriton X275 with Windows 7 Professional and I am experiencing a nuisance issue. The screen background changes from near white to grey either, after a time lapse or on depression of keyboard key. This can be temporarily rectified by switching the monitor off and then on and, occasionally, by depressing Ctrl/Alt/Del, entering Task Manager and then cancelling. It seems as though a screen energy saver is operating but I am unable to locate it to extend the period before it cuts in.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have found at least one other person that had a similar problem, but the information you provided for that problem doesn't seem to fit my symptoms. That person was seeing the message "please wait while connection is being established", I am not getting any messages, just a flashing black to white screen that stays white.
When booting, my screen will flash white. If the boot is successful, which is less than 50% of the time,I then see the loading windows screen and the computer goes ahead and boots normally. But, more often than not, I never see the booting windows screen and the monitor will just flash from black to white, several times, and then stays white. I do get the windows music to indicate that the boot was successful, but I can only see a blank white screen, no icons or mouse cursor. If I press the power button a couple of times, the system will usually eventually give me a screen that looks like the system was paused and is waiting for a user to be selected and a password to be entered. Once I am able to access the system, it seems to work normally. I have waited as long as 15 minutes or so to see if the boot will complete once I get the white screen, but it never seems to go any further.
I have checked for a virus using my virus checker, Viper antivirus, and checked for malware using malware bytes, but can find nothing. I even started a boot log to see if I could see any indication in the log file, but I can see nothing.
The digital river download manager shows as a white screen. While the top Title bar shows that a download is in progress and I have downloaded it 100%, I cannot continue or get passed this part because I cant see anything!
