I have an HP computer that I had to replace the system fan today. Now the bios date and times are completely wrong. Safe mode won't work for me just keeps restartingStart up repair doesn't do anything. The computer is from 2006. Is it possible that the motherboard or hard drive is going bad? Is it time for a new computer? I basically can't do anything on it now.
i have installed win7 home premium on my hp 6730s 3 days ago. since yesterday it started shutting down and restarting itself sometimes even before windows completes to load; also some times there is a glitch on the screen before restarting; i am not getting any blue screen i tried a lot of stuff like running only on battery, running from power supply only, cleaned for dust, checked all installed drivers, ran disk check from windows..
my hp laptop keeps restarting over and over. I see my window 7 blue screen but another window show up scanning and it say restore system. I don't know what to do. I have done everything that it keeps asking to do and nothing happens.
I recently upgraded our old computer from Windows XP to Windows 7 Professional. It wouldn't boot from the CD to install for some strange reason so I put the hard drive in my computer and installed it from there. After it installed, I put the HDD back into the old computer and tried to boot it. Everything works fine until it says "Starting Windows". After displaying that message for about 5 seconds it restarts and brings up the choice: Run diagnostics (recommended)Start Windows normally If I choose to start normally, the same thing happens and it restarts again. If I run diagnostics it says the issue cannot be automatically repaired. The strange thing is that it will boot perfectly fine on my computer (if I put the HDD in), but cannot boot on the old one. Also, the same Windows 7 works on my computer.
Been snooping around these forums forever, and have finally run into a problem that I couldn't find an answer to.
To start from the beginning:
I have a Dell desktop.A couple days ago I tried loading a game from my start menu, and it said something along the lines of "Can't load, folder doesn't exist". The game was in my D drive (where most of my games are installed), and when I went to check what was up my D drive wasn't in "My Computer". This is when I got my first uneasy feeling that something might be going down. I dismissed the issue as a "I'll figure it out later" and continued to surf the internet/play a game installed on my C drive.
Since a coffee spill on the keyboard, my laptop won't normally boot as it did before.ow it just hangs on boot screen. It takes somewhere between 10s and 5min to boot.ometime it requires to be reset several times to actually boot windows. I switched RAM, the problem persisted. Every component in my laptop is working (Wifi, Ethernet, Sound etc.) What should I do?
Everytime I switch on my Acer 5740 Laptop, after it reaches the POST screen displaying the Acer logo and Setup (F2) and Boot Selection Menu (F12) the laptop restarts over and over again and never stops. It has only been doing this since i installed a new program, after i installed it a blue screen appeared saying "STOP", and a bunch of other text but I couldnt make out what it said as the screen disappeared so fast. It is probably the work of a virus of some sort.I have already tried to boot from my recovery discs, but after the restoring the OS to factory settings, the same restart loop happens again. I cannot even access safe mode as it immediately restarts after displaying the acer logo. But I am however able to access the BIOS setup (f2) and the boot selection menu (f12). I know for certain that I have no hardware problems as the system was working perfectly with no errors up until I ran the program and feel that this may be the work of a virus. Here are the details of my Acer Aspire 5740 laptop that I have acquired via the Setup menu:
CPU Type: Intel (R) Core(TM) i5 CPU M 430 @ 2.27GHz CPU Speed: 2260 Mhz IDE0 Model Name : WDC WD6400BEVT-22AORTO-(S1) IDE0 Serial Number: WD-WXF0AB957752 ATAPI Model Name: Slimtype BD E DS4E1S
It started about a week ago and it is currently happening mabye once or twice a day. Some times it can go 8 hours without restarting. Or it will restart 10 minutes after turning it on.I wasnt getting any error msgs or anything, It doesnt freeze or no blue screen. Just shuts off and restarts. I unchecked the restart automatically button and last time it crashed the screen froze and made a constant beeping sound (more of a crashing beeping sound I guess). no errors popped up though. Is there a way to check the crash log so i can see an error msg or somthing?I Downloaded Everest to check my CPU's temp and it stays under 65 C. Other than this my laptop runs fine. I took out the ram seperatly and re seated it and tried running the computer and it worked fine with both ram sticks. I blew out the dust from the fan/vent a few days ago. I got a lot of dust out and its cooler but seems like its crashing more often tbh
I have a habit of leaving my laptop on all the time, it's plugged into power. What is too long to leave a laptop running? How many times should I shut down or restart it?
everytime I use the restart on windows the laptop restarts but comes up with a black screen with no lights. The only thing that lights up is the power, wifi and hardisk light. However when I press shutdown and use my finger to power on the laptop it works.
i need to enter safe mode, but i can't. after choosing it computer restarts. this is random time since choosing. sometimes just after still having black screen, sometimes after splash loaded, sometimes during entering the password. when it lets me to enter the passoword, it finds out that the password is not correct, when i am 100% sure this is correct.
I recently started getting this problem where my pc [desktop] crashes and restarts for itself. then sometimes i get the following message
Problem signature: Problem Event Name: BlueScreen OS Version: 6.1.7600.2.0.0.768.3
[Code]....
i'm not sure if its the same everytime but this is what i got on the last occasion. i taut that the problem was with the amd catalyst suit, 12.8-which i upgraded to when it released- because sometimes upon restarting i did not get any display signal from the video card on my f22 aoc monitor. i did uninstall this driver and installed an older version [11.8 i think] and got an ease up on the problem. no restarting as regular as before. only during games.
It worked ok up to now apart from many times when I clicked the back button it would not bring the privious page instead, it would bring blank page and then i had to close and start from beginning. today it worked ok until an hour ago, when the screen suddenly turned blank. i tried to shut down from the on/off button but the screen still blank and no button would have any effect on the screen.
My laptop is a Acer aspire 5738z running windows 7 home premium 64 bit and my problem is my laptop will not start. When I turn my laptop on it starts to run like normal: GPU fan starts, Disk drive kicks in, and the LED for the on button is working but nothing on the screen. I've tried too do alt + f10 for a restore, nothing happened. I've also tried to plug it into a monitor and my tv. Before this occurred it had been turned off during boot (don't ask why, I cannot answer that) and I preceded to take it apart(to fix the overheating issue due to acer not putting fan holes on the bottom of the laptop and I didn't realise something was wrong with it until I reassembled it and tried to turn it on. So I'm not sure whether is corrupt BIOS, a hardware problem, or corrupt MBR (my own personal diagnosis, don't know whether it's right or not). Also I have tried turning the laptop off taking the battery out letting the motherboard discharge then pressing the power button for a minute, leaving it for a minute, putting the charger in then turning it on.
I have a acer 5235 laptop on win 7 now the screen got cracked (but still worked)I have got a new screen the same model number the screen has now been fitted but the laptop wont power up ?Now if you unplug the screen from the mother board the laptop will power up so its not a motherboard fault, plugged the screen back in and got a instant shutdown So thinking the screen is at fault i plugged my old cracked screen back in and boom no power laptop fails to power up so d/c the screen it powers up plug the screen in while powered up and it shuts down instant crash the laptop works on an external monitor perfect, the new screen is from acer them selfs no after market, the strange thing is even the original cracked screen is failing to let the laptop power up There is no lights nothing when the screen is plugged in also it knocks the light out on the adaptor unplug the screen from the motherboard and everything works
My brother was doing something on iTunes, think unlocking a iPhone or something but when i came home and turned it on, it came up with Windows logo but then saying Preparing PC for first use and then a error comes up saying Windows needs to restart to continue installation. It restarts and does it all over again. I tried going into safe mode to do a system restore but comes up with same msg of preparing pc for first use and needs to restart. All i can think is something has corrupted the boot up and need to repair it but not sure where to go for it. There is a recovery option on the laptop from sony but that says it restores your laptop to factory settings
Because everytime i restart or open my hp laptop the wifi connection always failed. But after i restart my router and run the troubleshoot option of my laptop it will go back to normal.. Do i need to install something? My os is windows 7 starter edition and it is fully updated.
my dad has a Asus x5DIJ but when he turns it on it goes straight to a blue screen and say an error has occured and then restarts. I've tried F8 and selected repair your computer but this took me to a black screen with a white bar along the bottom which said please wait loading I left this over night but nothing happened!
Switched from XP to windows 7 home basicMy system :Operating system : windows 7 home basic (original)mother board :Asus P5B Mx wifi apProcessor : intel dual core , 1.6 GhzRam : 3 gb ddr2Problem : Once i put my system on sleep , on switching on, it does not display screen. My system gets blue screen and get restarted when it wakes up from sleep.
i've been running windows 7 on my computer ever since i found out i need a higher bit os to run my movie editing programs. as i filled up my c drive and d drive with clips and photos and what not, my computer started doing weird things. the crashes are never consistent, sometimes the screen goes black, sometimes it freezes, sometimes i get a blue screen, and sometimes i can't even start the thing. i tried freeing up some space on my computer but no luck. now i can't even watch a Internet video without it crashing. so:
a) if i have no memory left on the computer, does this affect how it runs? when it was extremely full i wouldn't even be able to view pictures and stuff, but i have 2.5 gb left on c right now so i can view pictures but i can't even watch a Internet video or run 2 or 3 tabs at once b) i downloaded my os off the internet, but it's never given me any problems. could this be buggy? c) my old os is on the d drive and it takes up a lot of space, can i delete it to free up space? is it a good idea to? d) do i need a ram upgrade? i really don't even know how much i have, it says 2 gb ddr2 memory if that means anything. at idle it runs at about 57%
Been having 9 RootKit issues popping up on our Laptop found by the AVG scan for about a month now. I wanted to just do a complete Restore to get things running normally again. Problem is I have a huge amount of pics on there that are not backed up. Been trying to come up with a quick & easy way to do it.Did a Google search the other day & read that I could use a Bridged USB-USB cable & transfer the pics to our PC. Went to Best Buy to get it & they told me that the Belkin Easy Transfer Cable would do it. Well, I attempted to run the thing last night (I don't think it was even doing what I wanted) and now the laptop will not boot at all. There was an error message (that I didn't write down) on it when I got up this morning & now all I get is a black screen with the arrow cursor on it.
I just installed NFS the Run and Battlefield 3 on my windows 7 Dell XPS, the game showed me an error and asked me to download driver version 259.38 from the nvidia website, I did so and the game started working, but not properly. Anyway, so I restarted my laptop and after the 'starting windows' screen, it went blank, the blue log in screen never came (i could hear the tune though). Then i restored my system to a previous date (thereby uninstalling the new driver) and now the system is working but the game is showing the same error again
I have a Dell laptop, XPS 15, my specs are on the attached file. I used to play Diablo 3 on this laptop, highest settings possible, and it never gave me any problem. Now i quit Diablo and moved to an online game, called Atlantica Online (Atlantica Online), and then the problems started. I guess it's important to say i play this game for a very long time now (3~4 years) and never had any trouble with my old PC (a Quad-core, 4gbs ram, 1gb video), and my brother also play this game on his laptop (a i5, 4gbs ram, onboard video).
When i try to run it on my Dell, first, it started to overheat. I started monitoring my CPU and GPU temperature, and it'd go from 50C/122F (idle) to 90C/194F just a few seconds after I started the game. To solve this problem, everytime I run the game, I run this app: ThrottleStop (ThrottleStop - Performance Adjustment Tool for Core 2 / Core i CPUs) so i can 'underclock' my CPU to 75% and turn off the Turbo feature of my i7 (Note: I also tried to run the game without underclocking my CPU and it restarted anyway).
When the problem occurs, screen goes blue, sometimes purple, there are some squares, like a chess board, it's all messed up. I see the mouse still works (it moves a big square when i move the mouse) and keyboard still works aswell (capslock light). But if i try to press any button, the computer will freeze and i have to hard reset it. I really like this game (it's the only one i play actually, but if it's the game's fault, i'll stop it, just want to be sure).
My Girl recently got a Dell Inspiron N5040, when we first turned it on, after a few mins it randomly restarted, i thought maybe its just an update (had to install loads of windows updates) however, over the past week, its being doing it every time its been turned off for a few hours... however once it restarts and comes back on, it usually is fine, It's only when leaving it a long while then turning it back on, it does the same again, and today for the first time we got a blue screen of death, which i believe may lead to some answers, here is the report:
Problem signature: Problem Event Name:BlueScreen OS Version:6.1.7601.2.1.0.768.3 Locale ID:2057
