Then It worked..But i have noticed another problem. my laptop freezes about 2 seconds then Starts up Again.. then freezes and un froze again... Then I am hearing some clicking sound on my disk drive on the right.(where I put DVD/CD's). And my laptop is 1 Year and 1 Month old, I haven't cleaned the fan. I think it has so many dust/oil in it that may also cause's my laptop to freeze from time to time. Then after about 10 minutes the Blue Screen of Death Appears!. It's so frustrating. I tried using Check Disk but it is stuck on the 4th Stage out of 5. like around 53k. I also tried defraging it. but nothing happens. I am in Safe mode now.

Feb 21, 2012Anyway, my laptop, which is an HP Pavilion (1 year old) with an i7 processor and 500gb hard drive, freezes everytime I start it up. My computer was perfectly functional until a few days ago. The first problem that occured was Safari would freeze on my homepage (google) everytime I opened the program. Every other website worked fine. On google chrome everything was running fine including google.com. Eventually safari would freeze no matter what site I went to, so I started using Chrome exclusively, which worked okay until after a couple hours, when it too began to freeze on any website. I ran a virus scan only to find a few tracking cookies and nothing with a high threat level. Well, the next thing I knew my computer itself became unresponsive. Whenever I start it up it appears everything is working until about 1-2 minutes in. Then everything freezes. For example, if I click the start menu or open a folder, it won't open until 30 minutes later if I'm lucky. So I guess my computer is just extremely slow.
I did not do anything out of the ordinary, so I have no idea what is causing this problem. I also tried a system restore, which accomplished nothing. I did notice, however, that my laptop seems to run at normal speed in safe mode, for whatever reason.

Mar 10, 2011Every once in a while during heavy gpu use my computer hard freezes. The screen goes black and i have to hit the power button on my laptop. My troubles started after I updated my video drivers so I tried three different display drivers and even went back to the default driver and my comp still freezes.I noticed my gpu was getting really hot, somewhere in the order of 95-100 C so i though it was a heat issue.

Jun 20, 2012Just recently my laptop has been freezing during video playback. The audio stutters or runs out of sync with the video, the video becomes grainy and jumping 3 or 4 seconds at a time. Just generally struggles to cope with the file. It varies as to how long this takes to kick in. Some times it's half way through a film, sometimes within a few seconds. Once it starts everything is painfully slow and I have to reboot. I've also noticed it takes much longer to reboot sometimes.
I checked in my programs and the Adobe Plug-in had an "X" over it so I uninstalled and then re-installed, thinking I'd found the issue, but it's still the same.
I've run AVG to look for viruses and also cleaned up the registry and so forth with other software but the problem remains. It only starts though when I run video files, this is what seems to start it.

I have been searching the Internet a bit to find a solution to this issue. Mostly this has been linked to specific programs (like iTunes), which I don't have. Someone said it might be BSOD so I did the procedure.
Basically, my laptop doesn't go to Sleep, but instead freezes. This happens when closing the lid, pressing the "power" button or doing manual Sleep from Start menu. The screen goes black, but won't "wake up" anymore - the only way out is a forced shutdown and restart. If the laptop is in this freezed state long enough it will shut itself down automatically. The machine is 2 months old with pre-installed Windows.

Jul 8, 2012i have a laptop 3 years now, a Sony VGN-NW21SF. My laptop gives me random BSOD's and often freezes. I dont perform any special operation when these incidents occur. The Laptop may be idle when this happens. Sometimes, i leave the computer turned on, and when i come back either the system has frozen requiring a pwr_btn shutdown, or has restarted with BSOD's. I have no indication on what is causing this, only one suspicion. That my Laptop is not compatible with SSD's. I suspect this because if i remeber correct, these BSOD's and Freezes, started when i first installed an SSD. Then i changed this SSD with another one, but still the problem remained.I have thrown away two ssd's and after i purchased a third one, different brand, different capacity the problems persist... Needless two say that now i feel like an idiot blaming and throwing away two ssd's... Because it can't be 3 ssd's with the same problem..... The other obeservation is that the BSOd may not happen for more than a month, and suddenly it may happen 4 times per day...

Apr 8, 2012A few months ago my Laptop went freezing from times to times, for a few minutes and then un-freeze, to freeze again a few minutes later. So wondering what to do, I formatted my laptop to solve that problem. Sadly it didn't worked.
Having work to do i was forced to run my PC on Safe Mode for a couple of month. After a while I decided to go ''legit', again and I realized that my PC froze a few minutes after start-up but after a couple of hours, it would run smoothly for days. So the past few months my PC was running smoothly,... until recently, but now, it's worst than ever.
It freezes a few minutes after start-up... and even if I keep it on for days, I still can't do a thing, it un-freeze for like 2 seconds sometimes, then just to freeze again. It's driving me crazy. I'm planning to buy a new PC but I'm stuck with this one for a little while now, might as well try to do something with it. I don't think this is a problem of program or anything like this since even after I formatted it, I still had the same problem. Is my laptop just dead? (I'm on safe-mode right now).

Oct 17, 2011i have an acer aspire 5738z and i am using windows 7 ultimate. every time i boot it up it works fine until i start getting onto internet. when i am using internet say, streaming videos on Internet or playing an online game or watching a movie online, the laptop just freezes. sometimes it freezes for like 2 secs but sometimes over 10 minutes. and then sometimes it comes back on again as normal or i will have to manually restart it from my end. i also tried to find any faults using a registry checker and couldnt find any although i am not pretty sure which is the best registry cleaner to be used. i also find that sometimes the laptop beeps just once before it unfreezes.

Feb 4, 2012I have a HP Pavillion DV6 laptop. Whenever I turn my laptop on and log on, a few minutes after logging on it freezes. Cant access anything, have to restart it. When turning on I gave it a scan by pressing escape and on the HP checks, the hard disk check it failed. Tried going into command prompt and doing chkdsk /f but get what's shown below.Checking file system on C:The type of file system is NTFS..One of your disks needs to be checked for consistency. You may cancel the disk check, but it is trongly recommended that you continue.Windows will now check disk.Cannot open volume for direct access. Autochk cannot run due to an error caused by a recently installed software package.Use system restore feature from the control panel to restore the system to a point prior to the recent software package installation. I can get into safe mode but that's all I can do.Would it be a good idea to reinstall windows, although I did it not that long ago (in the last two months or so) ? Or is there any programs that could save a hard drive. I really don't want to buy a new one. I've bought the laptop in Summer 2010 so its not too old. Although I think the vans sound quite loud and it overheats quite often, but I cannot take it off to get to them.

Feb 24, 2012My laptop used to run XP, something got corrupted and I got the blue screen of death. I took it to my brother (who is a network administrator) to fix it. He couldn't figure out how to fix or restore whatever system file was corrupted in XP, so he backed up my documents & program files, and then installed Windows 7. He then dumped all of those backed up files into a folder on my C drive called OLD FILES. It has been super slow and occastionally freezes since that time.
The C drive is almost full. I am certain that I have multiple copies of the same files and programs, and have the files for old software that I do not need or use. I cannot uninstall many of them because they were not installed, they were copied. I have tried many utilities in an attempt to find the duplicate files, or to clean up old data, and to speed up the system, but I only see minor improvements
Also, I have very little free space on the hard drive. however I am so afraid of deleting the wrong file or program and being back where I started when it crashed. I need advice on what I should do to fix this situation. Should I leave the OS as is, or change back to XP? And how can I determine which program filess are actually being used and which are duplicates?
I have thought about just buying a new laptop but that is not really an option at this time. So what do I need to do to make this laptop A) run faster and B) clean out all those duplicates and extra files I do not need.

Asus U56e Laptop Hangs / Freezes
Jun 16, 2012I have an Asus u56e laptop I got back in December 2011, and recently I did I clean reinstall of my system because it kept freezing and locking up while simply just browsing the web and listening to iTunes. I don't use this laptop for games, but after the clean install, I updated all my drivers, software, windows updates, etc. and I still get hangs and freezes that last 5 seconds to sometimes a full minute and all I'm doing is listening to music and browsing websites with maybe two or three tabs open in Firefox. I really have absolutely no idea what could be wrong so I came here seeking any kind of much needed help and assistance. I don't have a lot of programs installed and I don't run a lot of programs at once, just maybe one or two apps usually. My problem is I will be browsing on Firefox listening to music, then iTunes will hang for a few seconds and the music freezes, then Firefox freezes too sometimes for a few seconds also, then it goes back to normal, and this happens very very frequently to the point of frustration and I simply don't understand why a new clean laptop would have an issue such as this. Sep 27, 2012First I told her she needs to clear out some space of all her homemade videos.Then I wanted to go into Add Remove programs but every time I go in it freezes. I even tried it in safe mode but it seems to freeze up even more. I ran cCleaner which cleaned over 1000 MB. I ran SuperAntispyware which found nothing. I tried to run Malwarebytes but it froze after 2 minutes. I took some items out of start up but there are a ton of Toshiba programs listed, but I have no idea if they are necessary or not. Some items I am not sure if she needs or not: Blekko Anti Phishing Domain Advisor Every time I attempt something now her laptop freezes and I have to reboot.I can't even go into Task Manager to stop Malwarebytes or Add Remove Programs when they freeze.
