I have a danish version of Windows 7.In the try (at bottom) I have a language bar where I can chose DK or EN. If I set it to DK then suddently it changes back to EN ... this is driving me nuts.
Is it possible to have windows 7 language to be English UK but the keyboard language to be US?I want to setup my windows 7 language to be English UK, but I want my keyboard language to be US. Everytime I try to set my win7 language to be UK, it also changes my keyboard to UK as well and some of the keys like qoutes and @ and & sign are all messed up.
my mother recently bought another computer in another language. i wish to change this language to English, so when i'm configuring the computer, i can actually understand it, but how do i do this?
I am living in Beijing, China at present and am about to buy a new Lenovo Ideapad Laptop. This comes with Windows Vista Home Premium Preinstalled (Chinese Version). I then intend to use the Free Windows 7 Upgrade Program to acquire Eglish language media
It is clear in Microsoft's documentation that this is not a supported upgrade path.
However, assuming I can get Lenovo to provide the English Language Windows 7 upgrade media, I should be able to do a clean install as per Doing a Clean Install with a Upgrade Windows 7 Version and Paul Thurrot's Method.
In fact this would be the method for achieving any unsupported upgrade path, eg:
Vista 32 -> 7 64
Vista 64 -> 7 32
Chinese Vista -> English 7
Can anyone confirm that this is true, particularly for the language upgrade.
I may have misunderstood the literature regarding the language packs or language proofing tools. 1st of all I am not sure if they are the different names for the same thing or not. Are they? 2nd I do not in ay way want to change my UI with a different language. All I want to be able to do is -1- let Office not give me those squiggly red lines when I write in a different language -2- be able to spell-check and grammar check in the other language. And since I often use more than one language at the same time (2 to 3) be able to use all of the languages for spell-check etc. at the same time.What I have legally downloaded are 3 files that have such a series of numbers/letters: X16-37717.exe, X16-37707.exe, X16-37690.exe.
The typical -go to control panel and keyboard language setting- instructions dont work on Home Premium 7 for some unknown reason. The OS seems to be in English, but the keyboard doesnt want to change to Spanish.
Recent reinstall from partition. Legit copy, came with the laptop. Was working before the reinstall OK. Iirc the default interface might have been showing spanish, which might explain why i didnt have this problem before in the keyboard.
I think I was given the option to choose language at reinstall, and that I chose English. But everyone else who-s had problems with interface language never complained about keyboard issues.
Since about a month ago Chinese language started popping up in my typing languages. I have 1 English and two Bulgarian languages. And when I go through them with alt+shift about once or twice a week Chinese comes there as well. I have no idea what brought this. When I go to the Input Languages it's not there. So I have to add it, apply, and then remove it in order to make it disappear from my language bar.
I have HP Probook 4535s wich came originaly with SUSE Linux. Yesterday I changed OS to Windows 7 Professional x64 (I got all drivers from hp oficial web) but still I have this message: " Keyboard filter 01 is not installed". I tried with Windows Update, but nothing. What I noticed is that I dont have anymore scrolling function on the right side of touch panel. I have HD webcam and all new drivers and picture is not so good like before (with Linux). Do I have some solution or I have to back Linux ?
I have been installing Portuguese PhotoStory 3 on my windows 7 machine.It install OK. I reboot. When I invoke Photostory 3 I am expecting to find it in Portuguese, ... but its still in English.i used the official PhotoStory3Portuguese(Brazil).msi?Even if I install the Portuguese version, does it still look at the OS language when invoked and say "well, your OS is in English so I am going to display in English"?
my friend add new language as part of competition we have in our collage for how can make big customize on windows and she tell me that doing this is so hard !!! dose any one know how?? in windows 7
This all started whenever I wanted to change my text size different by changing my DPI settings. What I did was right click, go to screen resolution, and clicked on "Make text and other items larger or smaller". From this I changed it to 100% from 125%. I noticed it had changed my font size to the 100%. It then made everything SUPER small when I changed my theme settings.Whenever I right click and go into personalization settings, I do the usual customizing to my likings. Since I want to save the theme, I do so by naming it, blah. Now I want to use the blah theme by click on it, and I do so. Everything is fine and dandy until I right click my desktop to refresh(out of habit). This is the before and after of the font sizes.
Before After
My workaround was to set a custom DPI setting, log off like it prompts me to, then changing it back to 100%, again prompting to do so. It is so annoying to do so.
I've removed one of the language keyboard input in the settings but seems like it still appears in my language bar in desktop and it doubts me because everytime I have to shift twice to get back my input language into "EN" after using other language input.
I am about to purchase an asus laptop in Germany (with Windows 7 HP on). Now I know I can't change the system language (need windows ultimate for that) but I believe on Asus computers you can select English as the display language on the initial install (so each shop is telling me) and so i have read (which i don't really understand as why can you do this on ASus laptops only - surely windows is windows? ie you can or you can't!).
If this is true i was wondering just what will be changed into English (i.e. what exactly is the display language)? I gather the majority of menus etc will be in English, but what about if my laptop goes wrong and I have to start digging a bit deeper? Does anyone know if all the settings menus change so i'll be able toedit the registry if need be (just an example!).
A Compaq Presario CQ62 Laptop running windows 7. I accidentally spilled wine on it and the keyboard no longer worked.I purchased a Microsoft wired desktop 600, but it has no function keys. On the original keyboard I used Fn E12 to connect to a network, but with the new keyboard I can no longer connect to a network. There must be a workaround?
my daughter pressed a couple of keys earlier and now my laptop keyboard isnt working properly. It is really strage because a few keys are working but not in thier usual function. My partner logged out so now i am sat at a login screen and cant key in a password. The on screen keyboard is behaving the same way which is very odd! Any suggestions? I have only had it 3 weeks and have had no problems it's been great. My mrs said she was trying to type in a website and windows kept popping up when she typed, and then she logged out.
I bought my computer half a year ago and ever since then there was a language bar that I could use. It worked just fine. Just recently, my computer had to recover data (pressing f12 repeatedly during startup) because of a "hard drive damage". When i finally had most of my data recovered, I found out my language bar was missing. I tried going to control panel>clock, language, and region>change keyboards or other input methods>change keyboards>languagebar. There, I made sure it wasn't on hidden and that I had picked a language. There use to be a "EN" icon on my taskbar where it let me change languages, but now it isn't there. Is there anything else i could do to make it appear/work again?
Yesterday i purchased a compaq destop with windows 7 operating system installation but the problem is they did installation in Arabic language when i was turn on the system the total things are in Arabic language. Please can anyone tell me how to change the total things from Arabic language to English language.
I have a friend who is studying abroad from Japan and their laptop broke and they want to get a new one. However, they would really prefer it if the OS language was in Japanese (eg when you press the Windows key instead of 'Computer' it's 'コンピュータ'). I've tried fiddling around with mine, but changing the language seems to only change it for my clock, not the entire OS. I've heard with Enterprise one can freely change the languages in such a manner, but I would like confirmation before I recommend my friend a laptop and buying another OS if it's unnecessary and changeable through some other means.
After installing Windows 7 SP1, many applications and websites do not appear in English or any other language, but in some language which resembles Wingdings. MS Word, Notepad, websites appear in Wingdings. MS Excel is the only program to appear in English. After re-installing Win 7 (without SP1) everything is again in English. But, after installing SP1 again, same problem. I'd appreciate any thoughts, including which updates of SP1 I might be able to install without problems.
I am learning a different language and want to be able to type in it plus enter characters on my on-line course. I would also like to see the keyboard layout so I know how to get the special characters.

Does anybody here was able to see the difference between a Windows 7 installation disk in another language than English and a Windows 7 installed in English + a language pack (MUI)?
Personally, I don't see any. But I think my MUI (French) is still incomplete because there is some places in Windows which are still in English.
