View 4 RepliesSometimes I get pictures that show up as a blank white page, folded in the upper right-hand corner. How do I convert it into a jpeg or a regular photo.I'm on Windows 7 home premium, 64 bits.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI cant be positive that this is solely a Windows 7 issue, considering that files can get lost all the time on any system but, just recently, a good majority of my jpeg picture files have randomly disappeared. There are a few folders that are still in the usual place (Pictures Folder). As for the missing folders, they would appear after I use the computer search, however, when I try to open them, I get a pop-up that states that the shortcut has been modified/moved and my only option is whether or not I want to delete it. I looked under Recent Docs and the missing files show up; the latest one thats been modified was earlier this month when it was still accessible. I've even tried a system restore (from before the modification dates) and the Unerasure program, which I found out the hard way is a total sham. Is there any way to recover these? I really don't want to lose a chunk of nostalgia
View 2 Replies View RelatedI receive e-mails with jpegs attached. When I click on the attachment, it will not open automatically, I have to open Photoshop first.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI notice since upgrading to Windows 7, Explorer shows some quirky behaviour compared with the XP version. My current irritation is when I open a folder containing (say) 500 jpegs that were in filename (ascending) sequence, the folder opens quite quickly and I can see the file icons, but I get a message 'Searching for items...' and a progress bar at the top of the window which takes up to a minute to complete. The end result is always the same... the files are now sorted into descending sequence. It seems to be the case only for jpegs, only when sorted on filename, and only when 'Large Icons' were selected. Even then it only seems to display this behaviour when the folders contain a lot of files (maybe more than 200 jpegs). And it doesn't seem to matter whether or not the folder has recently been opened.I note that if I click on the 'X' next to the progress bar, to stop 'Loading', there isn't a problem. The thumbnails have already been drawn, so what's going on during this process? And why the inversion?
how recover deleted pictures (JPEG format)? I accidently deleted a folder about a month ago but only just realised. I though I'd managed to recover the JPEGs but I can't open them.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI recently installed Windows 7 on my laptop and have noticed a peculiar issue...when I save a jpeg to a folder or the desktop and then go to change the date, after I hit enter to confirm the change the image disappears from view. The same thing happens when I try and save a jpeg using the Snipping Tool, as well - the image is just gone! However, if I try to download a new image without changing the date and name it the same as the image that vanished, it won't let me do it because the name is already in use. So it appears that the image is still within the folder, but I can't get access to it.
View 7 Replies View RelatedWhen you save JPEGS onto desktop, thumbnail displays sideways. Then when you doubleclick it, it then displays correctly fullsize.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a small network of six computers. Five of them run XP and I just added a Windows 7 machine. I've got a Microsoft Access 2003 database that all of the computers share that is hosted on one of the XP machines. The Windows 7 machine can access the Access database through the network just fine, as long as no one else is accessing it. However, if someone else on an XP machine on the network is using the file, it won't open on the Windows 7 machine. Doubling clicking the file on Windows 7 gives me the circling blue icon for a second or two, then nothing happens. If the XP user exits the database, then I can open it fine.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a fairly new HP Desktop PC. I'm running Windows 7 Home 64-bit SP1. Yesterday I noticed that iTunes won't open when I double-click on the shortcut icon on my desktop. I restarted my computer, same issue. I restarted in Safe Mode, same issueI did notuninstall/reinstall because I also can't open my Spybot-SD. Same thing happens. The process is listed in Task Manager, but the programs just don't open. I have not trieduninstalling/reinstalling the programs because I tried doing a System Restore back to early February. The System Restore was successful but the problem persists. Also, Windows Media Player opens, but it opens weird, wherein it freezes on a white square for a few minutes before finally loading. Also, my DVD burning software, DVD Flick, opens but first it freezes on a yellow square.
It's hard to Google this problem because of all the programs involved, and I'm sure there are more programs that won't open that I'm just not aware of yet. I didn't do anything that I can think of that could've caused the problem (and if I had, the system restore would've fixed it). So I scanned my PC for viruses with Symantec and I also scanned for malware with Microsoft Security Essentials and both scans came up clean. Not being able to use iTunes presents a problem because I can't update my phone or make changes to my phone at all.
My girlfriend recently lent me her laptop (Windows 7 32bit) it was still using IE so when I go to install chrome the built in 'security program' (Windows 7 internet security 2011 or something like that) tells me that chrome is a threat and wont let me use it.. Now after finding out that Windows 7 internet security 2011 is a joke and just wants my money I run spybot search and destroy, it finds plenty of viruses and such like which are all removed. Now I have the strange problem...When I try to run any program or file the 'open this file with' window comes up. With some programs I can browse the program files and locate the program, select open with (I can't select 'always use the selected program') and away we go, but with others it simply doesn't open or will open the program in the background (unusable) and give me the 'open with' window again.. I have tried putting the Malwarebytes installer on USB but the laptop still gives me the 'open with' window when I try to install that

View 1 Replies View RelatedIm having a problem with opening files I use to open with two programs. One is mkv, vob and divx files with homecinema. And snes roms with an emulator. Basically win 7 would let me select the program and it would show up on the list of programs to use. I would select always use and I'm done. But I moved the folders containing the files to a different folder and now my two programs I use will not show up in the open with list. I now have to go to the program itself and search for the files. Its a pain because I could click on the files and get right to them.
View 4 Replies View Relatedcomputer, as I am not familiar with Windows 7. When he attempts to open an application (any application) it opens an "Open With" window with only IE 8 and Word Pad as the only recommended programs. He's figured a PITA work around by right clicking the application icon and selecting "Run as Administrator" and then it opens after clicking through the security window. My initial thought was that his account was somehow changed from an Administrator account to a standard account, but that proved incorrect.I'm thinking it's some virus or malware that's causing this, but I see no other apparent signs of infection (i.e. degradation in performance) and he is protected by a current Antivirus (Eset), so I'm also thinking there may be some corruption of his system files, but like I said, I'm a novice where Windows 7 is concerned.

since yesterday i cannot open windows 7 on my toshiba laptop. I have tried F2 - repair automatically and it says it cannot - asks if i have plugged in a camera or music recently - which i have not and also i may have a disc error and to try chkdsk/R on the command prompt ...which i did but it says it is write protected. I have tries system restore but that also fails. I haven't tried the boot disk yet as i have not saved my files and this would be a last resort .. is there any other way of getting into windows with the problems i am encountering without a complete factory settings system restore?
View 3 Replies View RelatedBasically, none of my .exe's work when windows 7 is normally loaded up. Now, when safe mode is running, everything runs just fine!I've googled around a bit and people are saying it is a "File association" problem. I downloaded "exe_fix_w7" and it won't even open when I push merge.I have no idea what to do from here, seeing as all the fixes work for others but not me.
