Ever since I've updated the Intellipoint software to 8.01, I've fallen prone to this random reset to factory defaults from my current custom button settings on my Trackball Optical. The funny part is that the functions will return to default but when you open the settings control panel, they still show the custom settings as shown in the picture below. My exact custom settings:

After reboot the other 3 accounts seem fine but office apps when i launch are as if im installing for the first time and ive lost all my contacts, folders etc in outlook 2007(i had to start from scratch using the wizard). HOWEVER.....all my mail files still exist in my hard drive i just need to import them somehow its very odd. Also my background had reverted to thw windows default. Im assuming its a registry error of some sort

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a dedicated media center that has a old dell monitor (to check settings) and a 42" panasonic HD 1080 television hooked via hdmi. I'm using a combination WMC and Boxee. Problem is everytime I shut down (or just sleep) the external monitor settings >appearnace and personalization>Display>Screen Resolution> mulitple displays goes back to "show desktop only on 2" where I want it to be "duplicate these displays". so I change back and click "keep settings" and it never keeps.

Most of it works but the volume control does not work and I'd like to fix it.I did have Intellipoint installed and indeed there is a directory full of it's stuff in program files, but driver wise I seem to be using some generic microsoft HID drivers, however I cannot delete the intellipoint folder in program files, windows claims it is in use.I don't have intellipoint in my list of installed programs.If I try to install IP8.2 from a fresh download it says it cannot proceed as it is already installed.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI did an update and got a BSOD. Message said "Check disc"' After completion, all my programs and settings are lost. I have done Acronis backups, but they are gone. I tried to do a restore, but only date it gives is today's. Can I use the Windows 7 disc to do a repair or will I have to do a complete re-install? Also, after screen came back, I kept getting a "Windows Validation Failed" even though I clicked Validate online and it said "Validation complete".

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a user that has a problem with the printer settings being reset every time she logs in to one PC. She has a Win7 Roaming profile. Both PCs are running Win7. It works fine on her PC, but when she roams to the front desk the label printer always has the wrong paper type. We can change the paper type and it works fine the rest of that session, but the next time she logs into this PC it is the wrong paper type again. The label printers are identical and installed locally at each PC.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI just accidentally changed my settings on my grapics card so that I can no longer see my desktop on the monitor connected to my HTPC. My HTPC has a monitor attached to it and it also has an HDMI out from the graphics card going to an LED TV in another room. I accidentally switched it so that the desktop can only be seen on the other TV in the other room.
All I can see on the monitor is the blank Windows 7 logo (no desktop icons) and I cannot navigate back to my AMD control page to undo this. I tried rebooting but this does not work. This is an issue as I don't have a bluetooth keyboard/mouse that I can use in the other room to control the desktop. How do I reset this? I am using a AMD HD 6750 graphics card.
I have a HP Touchsmart 300-1060a (Home Premium Windows 7 64 BIT) which I bought few years back. Now for the last 6 months or so I started getting issues with my machine was not displaying anything at all after turning it on. So I had to hard reset my power from the machine and then was able to see it started displaying again.At first I suspected graphic card (NVIDIA GEFORCE) but then I did my diagnostic test and nothing was found.One day, I started re-imaging my machine as a fresh and then after this it never came back ONLINE. I read all HP forums & even HP Online support was unable to help me to find the cause.Because when I turn on my machine I can see the power light was on and could hear big fan noise but mo HDD activity at all.So at this stage, I suspected either motherboard or BIOS but wasn't 100% sure what could be the real cause because I was sure it was not due to graphic card.So first I re-setted by my BIOS to see if it helps but it didn't came up at all. View 5 Replies View RelatedNow, just 3 days ago It started the BSOD issue.I realize that my GPU was the cause of this issue. When playing games or open 3d applications the temp goes 30C to 72C (In 15 seconds) then 82C - 85C constant (in about 30 seconds).Now I've been using MSI afterburner to check my temps and at fulload my GPU will be at 62-72C max temperature but now it's 10C even higher then before. No, I haven't fiddled with the voltage I set the GPU voltage to 1.037v which is the safest (been running this almost 8 months!). The GPU is the GTX 560ti.Is there a way to set the GPU on default settings or reset GPU settings in cmd or other professional way. I have uninstalled the drivers, uninstalling GPU, disabled GPU, disabled PCI-E slot and so on by using device manager and the issue still persist. Yes, I also have clean the GPU perfectly and still the temperature goes up to 82 seconds at 30seconds-45seconds. Yes, I have checked everything is set correctly and so on, I am a PC Tech.
Is the GPU damaged? Yes I have looked at this thread: Stop 0x124 - what it means and what to try Mainly, I know its the GPU straight away, I tried checking old drivers, new drivers, another GPU overclocked software such as GPU tweak and EVGA Precision. I am thinking it's the GPU is damaged or the PCI-E is damaged (I have another PCI-E slot on my system and the issue still there). It might be the PCI-E frequency? but it's set to 100 which it meant to be, I just hope is software related because I don't have the money to buy a new card. Did the dump files help?

Last week I was trying to backup some files to External HD, because of some editing that is due in three days from now. I have spent that week using Tune Up Utilities, System Mechanic, Hdd regenerator, CheckDisc Gui, Advanced System Care, checkdisk, WinDlg, Perfect Disc, PDtt (or something like that) and many other trying to fix some error that was reported by windows whenever I connected the drive to Pc.
Finally I decided to go with that same windows utility that was reporting errors and everything went fine.
But today I was trying to defrag index files on fixed internal partition with Perfect Disc that is done during boot, and Chkdsk appeared and before I could stop it started fixing something and erased 200gb of material or stored it somewhere where I can't find it. I can't find reports, log or anything.No indications of it in any of the utilities. I revealed hidden files/folders, went through Total Commander view, even Nero, and nothing, no trace of chk files. But I can see used space:

200gb missing

It created a Hilda PC user and I also have a Hilda user so I transferred all of my files from Hilda PC to Hilda and deleted the Hilda PC folder. I went to open a .doc file I use frequently and was not able to find it. I had just used it an hour earlier so I know I have it on the PC but now I can't find it. I even ran a retrieve deleted files software in case I had inadvertently deleted it and it didn't show up. I have done a complete search of my PC and external HD and I can't find it.I am nervous because it contained some sensitive information.

I was told by an HP technician a few weeks beforehand to only give the courier the laptop without the battery in it. I recieved an email from HP this morning saying "Your unit is being collected tomorrow Fri 7 Jan as an empty box was received by the repair centre." I've replied to the email saying i didn't even put my laptop in a box and asked them if they have indeed lost it, but i've not recieved a reply yet. I'd like to know what my options are if they have. Will they supply me with replacement of the same model? I'm still within warranty, but i don't know if that makes a difference.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm having a little problem with my SSD. It's a Corsair Force 3 120GB. With the starting loss of 9GB it's a 111GB SSD. When I click computer from the start menu to view the available disk space it says 44GB. This dropped from 58GB to 44GB today without me installing/changing anything. Also, if I go into the SSD, and make sure view all hidden files and folders is on, if I add up all the space used it is 58GB, 111-58=53 so surely I should have 53GB left?
View 3 Replies View RelatedWindows 7 Display was on Power Save at the time of install and everything seemed to be working as planned.
After several weeks with using Windows 7, with the Monitor in Power Save, I tried to activated it, the screen went black and it looked like the monitor died. Restarted the computer and monitor did not return to life.
Finally, concluded that it was DOA, and turn the machine off and went to buy a new one since this dead monitor was a LCD and was 5 years old. But wait.......from the monitor was a green flashing light and if I did whatever giggling with the cords and unplugged and replugged, the monitor came to life again but soon after it again died.
Was about to install the new monitor when the old one again came to life. This time, I took it off Power Save and set the screen saver to black after 10 minutes. It's now a full day later without any issue and the old monitor looks great again.
Are there issues with the Power Saver feature and not with my monitor?
Is my LCD on the last leg of life and these just die without warning?
I am ready to return the new monitor but can anyone advise weather this is a Power Saver issue or is my monitor in the process of checking out and going black for good?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently updated Windows 7 and Internet Explorer 9 on my notebook. Following the updates and restart I had no desktop icons appear. I seem to have resolved that issue, but now ALL of my miscrosoft documents, pictures, etc. that were in files are gone. The file folders apeear as usual, but they are now completely empty. In addition, my Libraries folders no longer appear (My Documents, My Pictures, My Videos)
View 7 Replies View RelatedSo I have a massive Flac library. And I have WMP tag plus plugin installed. All my music files are on their own seperate hard drive (F:). Originally i had just put the seperate folders for each artist directly on the root of F.
(F:artist folder)
This worked for a while and then somewhere down the line I had to make another folder on the root of F: and then replace all artist folders inside that. (to clean up some sharing issues I believe)
(F:Musicartist folder).
This also worked fine for tags. for a while. I had shared the root drive originally, and also shared the F:Music folder as well. after i had created the F:Music folder and shared that, I unshared the actual drive. Now, this was STILL fine for a couple of days. I had a fully shared library with songs correctly tagged with album art. But today I turned on WMP and went to wirelessly play music over my home network to my xbox. (using the xbox menus to access the music on my computer.)
While music was playing through my xbox I sat at the computer to look at my library only to see if I could "play to" the xbox from my computers WMP. As it turns out I couldn't but I also couldn't "play to" my laptop... which has always been possible because I do it all the time. (it was on and available.) Just I noticed this, my artist library on my computer started to collapse into an "unknown artist" folder.
I literally watched this happen. all my album art just fell off the screen and now not one song has any tags. everything is under "unknown artist" - "unknown album". I've been fiddling with my computer for an hour now i cant see the problem. I have noticed that the .flac files on my computer now have a different icon representing them... and I don't know why that is either. Why no more tags? Its literally a never ending battle to be able to play my music with WMP, but its almost a must to be able to play everything wirelessly throughout my house. I don't understand why microsoft cant get this to work.
