Is there anything that you should know before you format your drive/partition for a clean install? These are some of the main things you should do to avoid disappointment: Back Up important programs/files on the Windows 7 Partition/Drive Back Up themes/wallpapers/gadgets etc.. Back Up all bookmarks add-ons from firefox/i.e etc.. Download the latest graphics drivers or any other drivers that are necessary and store them on usb drive Useful Programs: EasyBCD: Is a great tool for editing the Boot manager EASEUS Partition Master Home Edition: Great Partition manager for creating/editing partitions (if you don't like the vista/Windows 7 disk utility) MozBackup: To backup all your firefox add-ons/bookmarks etc.. ImgBurn: Simple easy to use burning tool (to burn the iso image) Is there anything else that could be added to the list? Just post them here and I'll add them. I figured if we could get a few people posting Hints/Tips here it may be helpful to others in this situation.
I have a HP Mini 311-1033CA. I have slipstreamed the required sata driver and got to the screen asking to format the partition NTFS style. After reaching 100%, it'll restart the computer (as expected) but boots back into windows 7. All of my data is intact...I am installing windows xp pro sp3. I am also using an external cd drive?

My friend wiped my friend's computer on a Vista installer by choosing "load drivers" or something in the partition screen and then pressing format. I can't find this anywhere, or what I mean is there are no drivers to load. When I try to format, I can only format so that my computer saves a Windows.old file. Does that get rid of viruses? Does it get rid of a slow computer?
i had originally windows vista on drive C and then i installed windows 7 on drive E, then i wanted to try windows 8 so i deleted windows vista form drive C and installed windows 8 ... now i tried deleting/formating Drive C to put another OS on it but i couldnt delete the windows folder, im guessing its booting from Drive C into windows 7 on drive E.i used Easy BCD to remove the windows 8 boot entry since im not using it.so what should i do now? how can i format drive C and still make windows 7 boot correctly?

I had a really bad virus on my Dell Windows 7 computer. I am now trying to format the Hard drive and load a new version of XP on the system. Every time I try to format the hidden volume. I have had windows 7 installed for over 12 months now but lately I am finding my pc to be a bit slow. I have just purchased some more RAM for it and I am going to get a 2tb internal HDD as well in the next few days. Then I am going to format the HDD and reinstall windows 7.Now I already have a 600gb HDD which is partitioned into 3 drives (1 of these has win 7 installed). Is it possible when I put the windows 7 installation disc in and reformat the HDD to unpartition 2 of these drives and leave the other one untouched?
due to some personal issues i need to completely reformat the whole HD.. and for some reason when i try to do it it only lets me format windows partition and i want EVERYTHING to be gone.
I have a Sony Vaio with two partitions, a main one that 412 GB and another one that is 39GB. The operating system is on the main partition (412GB) but I have been having a lot of problems with it so I want to install a new Windows 7 Home Premium version.
The problem is that I do not have an external hard disk drive and cannot afford one right now. I have the Windows 7 DVD that came with the computer (Home Premium 64-bit) and I also created a USB drive off of it, and will probably be using the USB since it's much faster and smoother.
Anyway, my question is how do i install Windows 7 to the main partition (400GB one) without having to format it? I am aware that I can probably install a new version of Windows in the same partition and then the old Windows will be moved to a folder called Windows (old) but in the past I have struggled with deleting that folder and it created more problems than anything
I re-installed Windows 7 on a fresh partition this morning after I started experiencing some glitches. Got the new partition up and running with a fresh version of Win 7, but now I'm unable to delete / format the previous partition it was on. When I select format drive, after warning me all files will be lost, it says Windows is unable to complete the format. If I try and manually delete all the files, it tells me I need permission from "Trusted Installer" to make changes to certain folders.
I am having problems with a VERY slow laptop. (It is 3 months old.)The booting and general browsing is slow and lags a lot! D: (I have another thread about that issue.)So should I format or reinstall my Windows 7? (I don't have any restore points.)And how do I do this? (I have no clue as I have never done this myself.)I have don't have a windows 7 CD, as it came with Windows 7 when I bought it.And do I need a Windows 7 Key to reinstall windows? (Is it the key underneath the laptop?)
I have installed windows updates on my laptop, now I want to re-format my laptop, but I want to know if I could save updates to re-install after format without need to connect to Internet and download.
I have two instances of windows 7 on my PC. I did a clean install on my C: drive, I have three hard drives c d & e. I am unable to format my e drive because I'm pretty sure that is where some win 7 system files are, I've formatted my d drive. I'd like to know how to get rid of the second win 7 boot. Its corrupted and won't complete a boot up
Is there a way of formatting a drive without deleting windows? I am trying to install windows 7 with a legitimate key on a hard drive, however I do not have a CD. Is there any way of installing windows 7 without a cd?
I had Genuine windows 7. But while trying to partition my C drive error occurred and i had to completely format my hard disk. Now how can I re install my windows 7 or regain it back as before??
I bought new hp laptop.. it came with 500 GB harddisk, windows 7 home basic, I didn't get any windows cd apart from recovery in hard disk. My windows is installed in c: and that is the only drive that it have... now the situation..
1) I want to partition my harddisk without losing windows means I don't want to format C: drive 2) I also want to install linux in dual mode with windows..
Second question is related to first one because I don't need any method that may lead to situation like I can't install any other operating system.
I have 3 identical PCs with 2 partitions: C and D.I created a system image for one PC, C only. But when I restore that system image into the other 2 PCs (using Wind7 DVD), it formats both C and D and restore. The problem is that I have data on D and I don't want it to be formatted. I only want to restore the C image.
