Install Text Sizer On Task Bar?
Apr 1, 2011How do I reindtall the text sizer that has the % numbers on it? It used to live just above the task bar but now it's goneski.

Task Manager - Text On Windows Discolored / Pixelated
Nov 1, 2012So this started happening around 3 days ago. I really have no idea what to call it, but when I open things like task manager or computer the text on the windows are discolored/pixelated. The last thing I downloaded before it started happening was Manycam, but I don't think that's the cause of the problem. Text on internet browsers are fine, but it also happens when I hover over links. Also, I can't check my computer specs because I can't read them, since the text is all discolored and messed up.

Jun 19, 2011I just bought a new HP laptop (I'm heading off to college, and my custom desktop really won't fit in a dorm room) and I'm trying to get it set up in the same way that my home PC is configured. But when I turned on the laptop, I found that the text is slightly enlarged in some places--especially in Firefox, in right-click menus, and in some programs. I am guessing that this is due to certain programs not being 64-bit compatible, but frankly I have no idea (I'm transitioning from 32-bit to 64-bit). I haven't changed around any of the text size settings on either computer, although the desktop is 1920x1200 and the laptop is 1920x1080, if that might cause it..

Mar 3, 2011Ok this is wierd I have a client using Office 2007 pro and some of her docs that she recently updated and the problem is when she prints the docs text that she deleted is printing over the top of new text she inserted into the doc.
Now when you have said doc open in WORD the deleted text is not there in any view and does NOT show in "print preview".
I opened said doc with WORDPAD and the deleted text shows up at the bottom so its still in the word doc somewhere imbedded so it prints over the top of the actual text in the doc.
Searching A Bunch Of Text Files For A Particular Text String?
Feb 2, 2012I have a project where I need to search a large amount of text files on my home PC. I recently upgraded from Windows XP to Windows 7. My research indicated this feature was available in Windows 7.
If you do a search in Windows XP, you get a bunch of fields. You can pick to search for text INSIDE the particular sub folder structure.
I have found this feature in Windows 7, but it is different. I have tried using wild cards but it does not seem to work properly.

Not a major problem -- more of a minor irritation and an "I wonder if anyone else has struck this...?"
Whenever installing a program lately (can't remember how long -- I've been ignoring it for a while), Windows doesn't respond when I click the .exe installer file. But as soon as I hit Ctrl - Alt - Del and open the Task Manager, Windows suddenly wakes up and installs the program without a hitch. I don't have to do anything in Task Manager; simply opening it is enough. Also, the computer hasn't crashed in this state. If I want to open another already-installed program and use it, I can without any problems. It's just that it completely ignores my command to run the .exe file until I threaten it with Task Manager.
The first couple of times, before I thought of opening Task Manager, I'd double click the .exe file several thousand times, as you do, wondering why it wasn't doing anything. Then, when I opened the Task Manager, it'd try to install the program several thousand times. Now I know to simply double click the .exe file, then hit Ctrl - Alt - Del, and voila, the program is installed.
What I want to know is, why doesn't Windows install the program in the first place?
FYI, the programs I was having trouble with were (from memory) Dropbox, Skype, memoQ (translation memory software) and a few others I can't remember. I doubt that the programs were the problem though. I'm pretty sure this is a Windows problem.
Formatted Text Does Not Transfer Over To Pasted Text
Apr 6, 2012All of the sudden, when I want to copy and paste something in the same document, the formatted text (whether that be a certain font or bold) does not transfer over to the pasted text. For instance, if I wanted to copy the following bolded word word and then paste it anywhere else in the document, I now get this: word (without the bold). This applies to other cutting and pasting problems: this applies to other fonts and formatting (bold, my Greek font, etc).One more example: before today, if I wanted to cut a text out of my New Testament Greek program right in the middle of a paragraph, the Greek font (or whatever font) would paste normally no matter what font the target MS Word text was in.

Files get downloaded during the night on one computer and then need to be transfered to another. Usually I am doing this by hand, but then though maybe I could get the task scheduler to do it for me.I understand how to create a task, however I am having trouble with the action tab. I was thinking that I should start windows explorer (where is explorer located for win 7 x64 machines?) under the action tab, but once I do this I am not sure how to tell explorer to check the source folder, select all the files in it and then move it to the target folder.

Sep 24, 2012I have installed this game, Singularity. The game worked fine for a week then suddenly It would crash as soon as it was opened from the desktop shortcut. The game is patched to it's latest version, I have direct x all other runtimes and PhysX installed from the CD. The shortcut it set to run as Admin in compatibility. No matter if i try with the desktop shortcut or from the exe in the folder or from the shortcut in the start menu the game will crash asap. The only way this game runs is by pulling up task manager and selecting New Task then browsing to the games exe. Malwarebytes reports no viruses or any malware. Tried reinstalling, and it didn't help.

I had already setup a task to run upon logon when I noticed that the PC's name was all jacked. So I changed the pc's name and rebooted. After reboot the task disappeared from the task scheduler list but still runs. Is there anyway to remove this ghost task when it is no longer visible in the task scheduler?I thought about changing the name back temporarily to see if the task would show up but I have no idea what that name was, so that is not an option.

Oct 3, 2012So I don't know when this: "the selected task "{0}" no longer exists. to see the current task, click refresh" error started but I don't know how to repair this.
When I start task scheduler I first get this error and than no matter what folder I click the error pops up again. After this 2nd error it doesn't pop up anymore but all the folders show up empty.

it causes some programs to not boot correctly. Like MSIafterburner gives an error, so I have to go to the config settings of MSIafterburner because it tries to boot using the taskscheduler really weird I know :/

I'm using Areca backup software to backup my personal data.I created a Scheduled Task to run my backup weekly.I set it so that it would wake from sleep to run the task. But I'm having trouble finding a setting to tell it to return to sleep if it woke itself up. Jul 28, 2011I was having a problem on my laptop with Windows 7 not booting properly so I did a system restore of the windows files only using the Samsung software that came on the laptop. After that had completed, I can not see any text on web pages and even the Microsoft docs in office are messed up. I use Google Chrome for a browser and tried viewing web pages in IE but the same problem. Oct 13, 2012I am running windows 7 pro x32 and I rebooted my computer last night, and there was no text anywhere. I couldn't click the start menu, right click on anything or basically do anythibg to rectify the problem. After an afternoon of internet searching I found that the only solution seemed to be to run sfc /scannow in cmd, and I tried this both in safe mode and ordinary mode but to no avail, although this seemed to work for lots of other people. I even tried reinstalling windows using my dvd copy of the disk using the upgrade feature, which is what you are supposed to do, but had the error that I was upgrading to a lower version, which is apparently because my dvd does not have sp1 installed. I can not download any new disk images as I am posting off my iPod, and have no other way of doing anything technical. I need my computer for homework and other stuff, which I can't do. For instance, now have it set at 150% of normal and the title of this post is large but what I'm typing now is so small it's barely readable. MUCH smaller than 10-point.There is a way to customize the display, but anything more than 150% is so large it overflows my wide-screen monitor. When I open these files and try to update them I get the message that Sigil files can't be changed. I am sure there is an easy way to get rid of this identification as Sigil. As a matter of fact many of the files were created before I had Sigil. It just took over my txt files. It is NOT a question of the extension. They all have the .txt extension.

I downloaded an application that allowed me to increase the size of the fonts in the listing. However, the messages are still small.
