i need to have a task run that will move the contents of a folder from one computer to another over my home LAN. Files get downloaded during the night on one computer and then need to be transfered to another. Usually I am doing this by hand, but then though maybe I could get the task scheduler to do it for me.I understand how to create a task, however I am having trouble with the action tab. I was thinking that I should start windows explorer (where is explorer located for win 7 x64 machines?) under the action tab, but once I do this I am not sure how to tell explorer to check the source folder, select all the files in it and then move it to the target folder.

My requirement is to start an application (UI based) in the foreground as soon as the PC boots (whether user is logged in or not). I added a task to the task scheduler & configured it to run under the same account as my foreground logon account. I am seeing the task is scheduled but it is running in the background. Also observed that task manager is not showing the process unless I click on the button "Show processes from all users".

I created an exe with Visual Studio 2010 to automate the execution of a 2nd program. This exe requires 2 command line arguments. When I run this exe from a Short cut with the arguments defined everything works as desired. However, when I make a Scheduled Task to run this exe, the 2nd program does not get run and I get various results in the Last Run Status - most of the time the result is 0x41306.The task is set up as follows:
- run whether user is logged in or not
- run with highest privileges
- configure for Windows Vista / Windows Server 2008 although using Windows 7 / Windows Server 2008 R2 does not work either
- the schedule is set up and enabled
- the actions point to the exe create by VB
- the only conditions set is to wake computer to run
- settings are allow task to be run on demand / stop task if running more than 3 days / if task does not end when requested force it to stop
From the task history I get the following logs:
Task Scheduler successfully completed task "Netro-Wirecast-464-1100" , instance "{54a20687-ad3b-405a-a7a9-2c89cb43ce76}" , action "C:UsersSunday ServicesDocumentsVisual Studio 2010ProjectsWireCastLauncherWireCastLauncherinReleaseWireCastLauncher.exe" with return code 3762504530.
Task Scheduler successfully finished "{54a20687-ad3b-405a-a7a9-2c89cb43ce76}" instance of the "Netro-Wirecast-464-1100" task for user "HBCMP3RECORDERSunday Services".

Setting up a new Windows 7 install and goofed up the computer name and didnt immediately notice. I had already setup a task to run upon logon when I noticed that the PC's name was all jacked. So I changed the pc's name and rebooted. After reboot the task disappeared from the task scheduler list but still runs. Is there anyway to remove this ghost task when it is no longer visible in the task scheduler?I thought about changing the name back temporarily to see if the task would show up but I have no idea what that name was, so that is not an option.

So I don't know when this: "the selected task "{0}" no longer exists. to see the current task, click refresh" error started but I don't know how to repair this.
When I start task scheduler I first get this error and than no matter what folder I click the error pops up again. After this 2nd error it doesn't pop up anymore but all the folders show up empty.
Tried fixes:
Emptying all task folders in C:WindowsSystem32Tasks Download Fix My Task Scheduler 1.0 Free - Repair all Task Scheduler errors - Softpedia
/sfc scannow
Programs believed to cause this issue:
CCleaner
Defraggler
Sadly I have both
it causes some programs to not boot correctly. Like MSIafterburner gives an error, so I have to go to the config settings of MSIafterburner because it tries to boot using the taskscheduler really weird I know :/

I'm trying to use WIN7 task scheduler to wake the computer and run a program. I have checked "Wake computer to run task", but the task doesn't run until I manually wake the computer---then it runs correctly. Are there any other setting I need to adjust to allow task schedule to wake the computer

In Task Scheduler, I have a task designed to wake the machine, kill any existing instances of wmplayer.exe, and then open a .m3u file, starting a radio stream. This runs every weekday, at 6am.
This works successfully, except Windows Media Player (used to play the m3u file) is visible only in the Processes list in task manager, not as an actual open application. This wasn't really an issue, but now I want to open a jpg image as part of this task, and this is also invisible. I have made sure that the "hidden" box is unchecked in the task properties.
Also, my monitors do not wake up when the machine does, unless I manually move the mouse, or use the keyboard. I would like this to be automatic.

I tried a few times to create a basic task that was to display a message and it never worked. I used task scheduler on XP for years w/o issues. I went over and over what i could have done wrong and i can't figure it out. The day, time everything was right as far as i can tell. so i've been sitting here creating tasks to display a message 5 minutes ahead so i can wait and see quickly and they too never show. TS is running in services so thats not it.

Windows Task Scheduler seems determined to fail me.When I try to run it, it simply says "remote computer was not found," and the service is useless.I tried running services.exe and starting Task Scheduler from there, but it 'starts and stops,' with the following message:"The Task Scheduler service on Local Computer started and the stopped. Some services stop automatically if they are not in use by other services or programs."This makes no sense, and I need to degrag asap.

I scheduled a .exe file to run on IE event. However that task does not seem to be running. At them moment all the .exe does is make the notepad window active (just testing at the moment) but this is not happening. I think I may not be understanding how task manager works.

I have set up Task Scheduler to execute batch programs using a programming language known as SAS. Normally things work properly, the task ends as expected, and a log file is created. Today, the task ended unexpectedly (actually, I know why, I set the task to end after 30 minutes, because the task shouldn't take more than about 2 minutes). The problem is that the log file that is being written by this program is now locked, and I cannot delete it or move it edit it. Other files used in this task have the same problem. If I try to delete it, I get the Windows message that says: "The action can't be completed because the file is open in SAS" (even though SAS is no longer open because the task has ended). This is completely repeatable, this has happened several times now, with identical results.

I am running Windows 7 (Premium Home), on a dell Inspirion 15.attempted to create a scheduled task (and i am used to doing this in Windows XP) and I can not seem to make it work for me.I created a task; and simply put the file (.mp3) in the "Program/Script" box. It plays the file fine, but it is doing so as a "ghost task" as i've come to call it.
The File is played, but WMP is not opened, and a task is not created in the Task Manager. Sadly, it is also looping and i am muting it under the SoundMixer as "unavailable name".
Attempted to fix this by starts Wmp.exe, and using an argument ("C://&&&&/&.Mp3") to give some direction. But no cigar (Event Id 203 &103 [failure to start, failure to run])
I then just simply copied the argument and placed it into the "Start In" box. (with a bit of prayer to get rid of the looping that i must REBOOT to get rid of)So i have used the MP3 without WMP, And attempted to run it THROUGH WMP and have had no luck.

the problem is if I create a new task for the task scheduler which is having multiple triggers, only the first entered trigger is recogized and used. E.g., I have two weekly triggers to execute a program. The first selects Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, and Fri to run the program. The second selects the weekend to run the program, i.e. Sat, Sun. --> Now, the program starts only on Mon to Fri. The Sat/Sun trigger is neglected and the program doesn't start on the weekend. If I delete the first Mon-Fri trigger, suddenly the weekend trigger is recognized. If I then add the Mon-Fri trigger again (now as second trigger), it remains unoticed, i.e., only the weekend trigger remains used.In all cases I made sure the triggers were set "active".

Does any one know of any software that takes events from task scheduler and puts them in a calender format? My reasoning would be that it would be much easier to see whats scheduled to run in a visual format.

I have some knowledge on setting up a task to shutdown the system at a specified time everyday using the Task Scheduler in Windows 7. However, I would like the option to have a "1 minute warning" that system is shutting down so that I can cancel it if I am currently using it. How would i go about this? For example: I have it scheduled at 10pm to turn off. However, I am still on the computer at 9:59. I would like some dialogue to come up and give me the option to cancel and I will just shutdown the computer when I'm done.

I am using Windows 7 and created a small batch file to xcopy the contents of a folder to another folder.
=====================Script=============================
xcopy "C:UsersBobDocumentsQuickbooksAttachCanterbury House 2013" C:document-backup /i /s /y
@Echo off
cls
Echo.
Echo.
[code].....
It works correctly it I manually run the script (double click the batch file) but it never executes when the time comes under the task scheduler. It just says that either it was ended by the user, which it was not, or it just says it is running.

I have created a task that is suppose to launch Goldmine every day at a set time. The task appears to have launched successfully, ie Task Scheduler reports "The operation completed successfully." However I know it isn't actually launching. When I run the task manually the application never launches, when I check Task Manager the gmw.exe process is running but the application never opens, nor does it show in the application tab of Task Manager but whenthe task completes (Goldmine is set to shut down after 5 minutes) the task then reports as stated above. The Actions tab is set to "Start a program" and the path is the UNC path to the exe on my GM server.Security options are "Run whether user is logged on or not" and "Run with highest priveleges", the user account is a Domain Admin.
