Inspiron E1705/9400 Sigmatel 9200 HD Audio Driver?
Mar 2, 2010
I'm having trouble tacking down an audio driver for my Dell Inspiron E1705/9400. It has a Sigmatel 9200 HD Audio Codec. As Indicated from device manager
HDAUDIOFUNC_01&VEN_8384&DEV_7690&SUBSYS_102801CD&REV_1022
VEN 8384 - Sigmatel
DEV 7690 -9200 HD Audio Codec
SUBSYS 102801 - Dell
The audio card is able to output sound however while playing back any prolonged audio, ie music, the playback is unacceptably interrupted with digital artifacts such as skips and pops. This behavior is experienced using a variety of drivers. All drivers have been uninstalled using device manager and then the system has been rebooted before installing the next driver. Also all of the other dell recommended drivers have been installed without a hitch. Finally all windows patches are up to date.I started with the driver provided by Microsoft and continued to try the recommended driver from dell, R171788. I have also tried the following additional driver packages from dell, R108276, R147073, and R171789.
Additional Information:
OS: Windows 7 x86 Home Premium
Dell Service Tag: BSCDK91
Dell Inspiron 9400 laptop, dual boot of XP Home and Windows 7, install of public beta went really well. In Windows 7 I have a volume icon in task bar, but no audio output I can hear... Windows 7 is using the digital output with spidf, which I can't use, it shows no other option. I can't seem to install the original drivers (from Dell, for XP), they fail (sez they're not the right drivers for my hardware, even though I tried installing as Administrator).
In XP, device manager reports the SigmaTel High Definition Audio CODEC, what am I missing here? I think I'm needing to install the "legacy audio" drivers?
I have an older P4 2.8ghz Dell Dimension 3100 that currently has Windows 7 installed. Apparently the driver is the Sigmatel 97xx C-Major audio according to support.dell.com - the first thing I tried was the Windows Vista driver listed on Dell's site. Unfortunately that did not work. The driver appears to be installed and I have a sound device however I have no output through the speakers. I'm sure it is a driver related issue.
The device enabled, the speakers work and are hooked up properly. Any ideas where I can find a Windows 7 driver for the Dimension 3100 using the onboard Sigmatel 97XX?
I have A Dell XPS 420 with a Sigmatel Stac92XX C-Major HD Audio Driver and I was running Windows Vista X64 SP1 and everything was working fine.
I just recently installed Windows 7 RT Build 7100 and the Generic High Definition Audio Device Driver Installed and all types of media play, but it's causing a crackling sound in my audio and not only that it actually corrupts the file so if I were to play a MP4 on my XBOX 360 it also has the crackling noise even if the file was originally fine.
I don't know the last Sigmatel Driver that was on my Vista Build but I tried a few of them and even tried in Vista install mode but none of them work & I tried all the codecs packs that I always install and still nothing.
What should I do and is this a driver problem that's causing the crackling noise and corrupting my files or is their something else to this please help because it's driving me crazy?
I reset the cmos by pulling the battery, and now the comp won't boot, won't show the F2 F^ boot options in the upper left corner, and won't react to any key pressed, just shows a messages saying to run setup, but no clue how to get there using usual keypressess.
After a clean install of Windows 7 from Vista 64 bit , all went perfect except for the audio drivers. After a few weeks Windows 7 was saying that the sigmatel audio driver installed was not working. Sigmatel is now actaully IDT. Any of the so called updated drives from sigmatel or IDT will not install. So just delete any installed audio drives in Device manager and let windows install the drives upon rebooting, they work perfectly and they are the most recent drivers i could find anywhere for the High Definition codec.
Have a tablet PC that I just installed Seven onto. Even though it's an old box, Windows update found nearly all of the drivers. The one it didn't find is for the AC97 Sigmatel audio.
So, I grabbed the drivers I used for Vista (they're actually XP drivers) and tried to install them. Did this again and again, using different compatibility modes every time. Got no indications of failure, but never worked, either.
Tried removing the device and having Windows Update search for a driver. No luck.
Tried installing driver from selecting from list. Only Sigmatel driver in the list is for HD -- which I don't have.
Even tried the MS WDM driver -- and it refused to install it.
I read in another thread that there are supposedly generic AC97 drivers --but I can't figure out how to install them.
The relevant driver files from Vista are STAC97.sys and staco.dll -- which tells me this is a STACS AC97 audio chip. But I just can't figure out how to get a driver installed.
Okay I have an inspiron 1721 with Win 7 Ultimate installed on it. Everything works fairly well on it except I have no audio. It says no device installed, and I have tried all types of different versions, under compatibility mode, admin, and ect... when I try to install the drivers it says things along the line of "Device object not present, quite and restart system and try again."
I only had sounds once, and it was pure crazy loud static.
Update STILL TROUBLE: Audio drivers installed. I uninstalled what I found and it re-installed and did the same weird noise issues. Then when I rebooted, it shows no audio output device installed.
I previously had a stuttering issue on "only" music playback with my SigmaTel High Definition CODEC, but after rolling back my drivers to the default Microsoft tones, the audio stuttering disappeared.
Since I have never used Microsoft audio drivers, are they of the same quality as the SigmaTel's? My current version is: 6.1.7600.16385
Any issues with keeping this default Microsoft HD Audio driver?
I have a SigmaTel High Definition Audio CODEC driver and beffore I installed Windows 7 I had XP. Now I don´t get 2.1 sound system to work. Only desktop speakers are working. When i plug subwoofer into the jack it wont work. However when I connected the sub. computer recognizes it and shows me that I connected sub. But theres not any sound out of the sub. I have a Sony Vaio VGC-RC110G and installed Windows 7 RC 32 bit and it went smoothly 'cept for 2 missing drivers. The main one is the sound device as it is NOT being read. I can't get any sound. I spent several hours on the net looking for a compatiable driver, and alot of people ran into trouble with the SigmaTel High Definition Audio Codec when they upgraded to Vista. Tested a bunch of drivers (from Sony site and even updated sound drivers from Dell) and none worked.
Even downloaded some program called detective driver to help me find compatiable driver but I'd have to pay $30 to activate the program. I would but Im afraid it might not find it.
I am trying to figure out how out how to get sound on my laptop. The sound thing on the taskbar says No audio output device installed. I have a Dell Inspiron 8100 laptop running Windows 7. Anyone know of a solution to this problem?
