View 4 Replies View RelatedDell Inspiron 9400 laptop, dual boot of XP Home and Windows 7, install of public beta went really well. In Windows 7 I have a volume icon in task bar, but no audio output I can hear... Windows 7 is using the digital output with spidf, which I can't use, it shows no other option. I can't seem to install the original drivers (from Dell, for XP), they fail (sez they're not the right drivers for my hardware, even though I tried installing as Administrator).
In XP, device manager reports the SigmaTel High Definition Audio CODEC, what am I missing here? I think I'm needing to install the "legacy audio" drivers?
I reset the cmos by pulling the battery, and now the comp won't boot, won't show the F2 F^ boot options in the upper left corner, and won't react to any key pressed, just shows a messages saying to run setup, but no clue how to get there using usual keypressess.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm having trouble tacking down an audio driver for my Dell Inspiron E1705/9400. It has a Sigmatel 9200 HD Audio Codec. As Indicated from device manager
HDAUDIOFUNC_01&VEN_8384&DEV_7690&SUBSYS_102801CD&REV_1022
VEN 8384 - Sigmatel
DEV 7690 -9200 HD Audio Codec
SUBSYS 102801 - Dell
The audio card is able to output sound however while playing back any prolonged audio, ie music, the playback is unacceptably interrupted with digital artifacts such as skips and pops. This behavior is experienced using a variety of drivers. All drivers have been uninstalled using device manager and then the system has been rebooted before installing the next driver. Also all of the other dell recommended drivers have been installed without a hitch. Finally all windows patches are up to date.I started with the driver provided by Microsoft and continued to try the recommended driver from dell, R171788. I have also tried the following additional driver packages from dell, R108276, R147073, and R171789.

96.85 is the driver comes with Windows Update for FX 5200 cards. The problem is this driver makes my computer freeze at random times. For full details This Thread.
I've found 97.34 and 98.16 are also compatible and enable Aero. However all of those cause my system lock up as told in the linked thread. I am using 169.21 Forceware which is a XP driver and that can't support Aero interface.
Is it a way to combine this two working and not working drivers? Like modded INFs?
I've been search in the internet for a while to find the NVIDIA [GeForce 8400M GT GPU] Driver. I tried the file that provided by the LaptopVideo2go.com, but it still not work.

When I check the Device manger, it still recognize [Standard VGA Graphics Adapter].

View 9 Replies View Relatedjust got done installing the Windows 7 Beta and updating all of my drivers.
There's one that's still giving me troubles though; my graphics card. I've got an XFX GeForce 6200 512MB AGP 8x. This is the second time I've had an issue with this card. I powered off my system, plugged the card in, and rebooted. I didn't touch anything in the BIOS, as my old Radeon 9250 worked fine before.
I log on to Windows, and I get the 'Installing Device Driver' or whatever popup. It runs, installs, says everything is fine, but I need to restart for it to take effect, so I do. I get back into Windows, expecting some Aero windows to greet me, but no. In Device Manager, I have the little yellow /!. It says "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)"
This also happened in Windows Vista Ultimate SP1.
So, I upgraded from 32-bit Vista to Windows 7 RC. All went well, except for my computer now only detects (under Display Adapters) a Standard VGA Adapter. I have a Dell XPS M1530 notebook, and it came with a nVidia GeForce card, I believe it was a GeForce 8600M GT. I right-clicked and told it to check for hardware changes, but it will not detect the graphics card.
Because of this, it is not displaying any of the Aero effects, etc, and my second monitor is not receiving any signal although it is properly connected.
Does anyone know how I would be able to fix this?
I installed the RC 64 bit with no problems onto my ASUS M50Vm with 4GB DDR2, 2.53 dual core, 320 GB HD, nVidia GeForce 9600GT. However, it doesn't seem to think my graphics card exists. I tried to update drivers, but it won't let you update drivers for a device you don't have. I went into device manager and the card is not under display adapters. So i thought maybe it's in the unknown section. Not there either. Just to be sure I went back into Vista and checked which PCI slot the card is in, and went back in to the RC and nothing in the device manager is in that slot.

what is the newest driver for my graphic card.I have GeForce GT 440 and i have problems with my PC.So maybe the problem is that i need a new driver. My problem i think is quite complicated.I don't have an option about the refresh rate(only 60 hz) and when i 'm trying to play NBA2k12 it says:OUT OF RANGE:106.4kHz/85Hz.

i upgraded my graphics card from a geforce 9500 gt to a geforce gtx 550 ti. i can be on my computer for several hours (4-8) with no problem at all then all of a sudden i get a major fps drop making games unplayable and streaming media such as netflix lag, while also making my browser to lag big time while watching videos. i haven't had this issue with any other streaming media such as Internet, it almost feels like the problem occurs while watching netflix then sometimes ill open a new tab to check facebook or multitask and then notice a major lag spike.i got into habbit of noticing this, closing netflix opening a game like dead space 2 and seeing how ridiculous my fps has dropped. a simple restart will solve this (temporarily) which then several hours later the problem comes back.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been experiencing problems with my card since yesterday. While I went to class in the morning, I returned within an hour to a monitor that was completely black.
After restarting, my screen is forced at 800x600 and they are Trippe bar lines all around my screen. Since then I've reinstalled Windows 7 multiple times, downloaded new drivers, and updated my bios.
None of which is helping. I'm thinking maybe Windows update downloaded something while I was gone that forced my card to be undetected.
I uninstalled the 8800GT and the drivers thinking maybe a new installation might solve it, but now (the new driver) is saying it doesn't recognize Windows 7 32-bit as actually being Windows 7 32 bit.
Now I'm stuck with it not even detecting a graphics card.
I've just been trying out 7 and am liking it but I've been unable to find a driver that works successfully. I've searched all the threads and tried nvidia's website but no luck. I'm 99.9% sure I have the GeForce FX5200 (it was called Personal Cinema I think when I got it years ago)
Currently Device Manager is showing 'Standard VGA Graphics Adapter' and I've tried using 190.62 but that doesn't recognise the hardware either.
Does anyone know where I can find a working driver for this card and 7? Also should I reseat the card in case thats why it has not been recognised?
Ok. so i just replaced a failing 8500 with a 9600GT(Pre Overclocked.)
Out of curiosity i re ran the windows assessment tool.
Aero graphics went from 5.1 to 7.9 =
Gaming Graphics went from 4.3 to 2.0 =
What the hell gives with that?
Im running windows 7 build 7022 by the way.
I've just bought a PNY Geforce 6200 512Mb DDR2 AGP8X graphics card and have been trying for five hours to get it installed on my system.
My motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-7DXE (which is quite old and supports AGP4X but I've heard it can support AGP8X)
I reach the 'Starting Windows' screen before it stops and does nothing.
There is no trouble in me using a standard VGA adapter installed in the AGP slot. I tried uninstalling the driver for it and restarting the computer with the new card in but the startup process only goes so far before stopping at the 'Starting Windows' screen.
Every now and again the HDD light on the front of my case will flicker and I will hear the HDD spinning (and having a think about loading or something!) but then it ceases.
I've been online and downloaded the latest drivers for this graphics card but Windows 7 won't let me install them because I need to have the card plugged into the motherboard in order for it to let the installation proceed. On the installer I get the message,
"The nvidia setup program could not locate and drivers that are compatible with your current hardware."
[*Of course I am viewing this message using the standard vga adapter because I can't use the new graphics card because it won't get past the 'Starting Windows' stage!]
When I go into safe mode the loading process goes up to amdagp.sys which I think is the last bit before it should take me to the 'Welcome' screen.
I've downloaded the latest chipset for my mobo from Gigabyte's website (although the release date was back in 2002!
*Breaking news, Windows Update has just offered me an update for Geforce 6200! However the installation failed. Here's a link to the screenshot:
http://www.4shared.com/file/183891589/cfa2c245/update_failed.html
I think it's still to do with not having the card plugged into the mobo. I wonder if I put in the new graphics card and set Windows Update to run in ten minutes time, would it apply the update because the card would be present?
i haev a Geforce 8400 RS error but since widnwos 7 is beta i think it doesnrt work with it so when i use the geforce the computer crashes and i want to do dual monitor casue im a video editor adn dual monitor is easier with video editing so i cant use it and i haev to use my built in video card which doesnt support dual monitor does anybody knwo hwo to fix this problem?
