Sigmatel Audio Drivers Won't Install
Have a tablet PC that I just installed Seven onto. Even though it's an old box, Windows update found nearly all of the drivers. The one it didn't find is for the AC97 Sigmatel audio.
So, I grabbed the drivers I used for Vista (they're actually XP drivers) and tried to install them. Did this again and again, using different compatibility modes every time. Got no indications of failure, but never worked, either.
Tried removing the device and having Windows Update search for a driver. No luck.
Tried installing driver from selecting from list. Only Sigmatel driver in the list is for HD -- which I don't have.
Even tried the MS WDM driver -- and it refused to install it.
I read in another thread that there are supposedly generic AC97 drivers --but I can't figure out how to install them.
The relevant driver files from Vista are STAC97.sys and staco.dll -- which tells me this is a STACS AC97 audio chip. But I just can't figure out how to get a driver installed.

Sigmatel Audio Drivers
After a clean install of Windows 7 from Vista 64 bit , all went perfect except for the audio drivers. After a few weeks Windows 7 was saying that the sigmatel audio driver installed was not working. Sigmatel is now actaully IDT. Any of the so called updated drives from sigmatel or IDT will not install. So just delete any installed audio drives in Device manager and let windows install the drives upon rebooting, they work perfectly and they are the most recent drivers i could find anywhere for the High Definition codec.

Problems With Sigmatel Audio Drivers
Okay I have an inspiron 1721 with Win 7 Ultimate installed on it. Everything works fairly well on it except I have no audio. It says no device installed, and I have tried all types of different versions, under compatibility mode, admin, and ect... when I try to install the drivers it says things along the line of "Device object not present, quite and restart system and try again." I only had sounds once, and it was pure crazy loud static. Update STILL TROUBLE: Audio drivers installed. I uninstalled what I found and it re-installed and did the same weird noise issues. Then when I rebooted, it shows no audio output device installed.

Conexant AC-Link Drivers Won't Install
I have a HP Pavilion zv600 (model zv6123cl). The drivers section for my computer on HP.com only lists XP drivers, which fail to install. The Vista section (http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?product=500261&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&lang=en&cc=us&y=6&x=8) only has drivers for the quick launch buttons. I've also downloaded the package suggested at http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7itprohardware/thread/f4dfec8a-e2c9-44b0-ac8b-f8dcfe80ab4a, but these also fail, even when checked for running as admin in Vista compatibility mode. Windows Update doesn't have any downloads. Device manager lists the device as "Muiltimedia Audio Controller", with the little exclamation point. Does anyone have any other drivers for the Conexant CX20468-31 AC97 Audio that might work with Windows 7?

South Bridge Drivers Won't Install
I just built desktop with ASUS M4A78 Plus mobo and was getting BSODs constantly using windows 7 64-bit. I just installed XP 32-bit and ti's running fine. One thing I noticed is on XP the south bridge drivers installed but on Windows 7 whenever I tried to install them using catalyst manager or driver from ATI's site it would not install. It would attempt to install the north bridge drivers which the log would say successful but catalyst manger would always say they weren't installed. Has anyone experienced this problem or now a fix for it?

NVidia GeForce 8500 GT, Drivers Won't Install
I have Windows 7 32bit installed on an ASUS P5RD1-VM mobo with an nVidia Geforce 8500 GT graphics card. I have tried numerous times to install the Windows 7 (32bit) Driver from manufacture site, but when it tries to install the drivers, I get an error message saying "No drivers were found that work with your device. Setup will now close." I don't get this! I'm on that graphics card right now, in Windows 7, and typing this thread... Also, in Device Manager, there is no "Display Adapter" listed.... I can't seem to find any evidence of a generic display driver either.... I've already solved the problem of my sound not working (SoundMAX Integrated Digital HD Audio) and this is the last thing I need to get Windows 7 working for a REAL test run! How can I get these drivers installed?

Realtek AC'97 Audio For VIA (R) Audio Controller Drivers Issue
I just installed Windows 7 and it seems awesome! The biggest problem so far is with audio drivers. I have MSI KT6V LSR motherboard (using VIA KT600 north bridge and VIA VT8237 South Bridge). I got the sound to work by installing drivers, but after I reboot the computer, sound didn't work anymore. The volume icon in notification area shows a red cross, and when I click it, Windows starts a windows "Detecting problems". After that, it says that reinstalling the driver might help.

XP And 7 Install Issues (Won't Boot Into Win 7 Install)
I have XP SP2 installed. I used EASEUS Partition Master to split my drive in half, one half being XP, the other half being a future install of Windows 7. Put DVD in, selected the blank partition, began the install. Once it gets to the first reboot, it will reboot and go straight into XP. There is no option to choose Windows 7. The XP boot.ini has only one entry for XP. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm thinking I need to add an entry for Windows 7, but have no clue what to put and I'm also guessing I'd have to add a few special tags because it's booting into the setup process of Win 7.

Sigmatel 97XX C-Major Audio Driver
I have an older P4 2.8ghz Dell Dimension 3100 that currently has Windows 7 installed. Apparently the driver is the Sigmatel 97xx C-Major audio according to support.dell.com - the first thing I tried was the Windows Vista driver listed on Dell's site. Unfortunately that did not work. The driver appears to be installed and I have a sound device however I have no output through the speakers. I'm sure it is a driver related issue. The device enabled, the speakers work and are hooked up properly. Any ideas where I can find a Windows 7 driver for the Dimension 3100 using the onboard Sigmatel 97XX?

Dell E521 Sigmatel Audio Issues
I have a Dell Dimension E521 and installed the RC with no issues whatsoever (everything worked 1st time, I'm impressed!). The only thing is, the default driver for the Sigmatel audio chip in my dell was only supporting the 2 channel stereo output jack. There are a few different jacks coming from this chip, and I use the 5.1 jack under XP and it worked just fine. Now when I plug my 5.1 system into the 5.1 jack, Windows 7 doesn't recognize the hardware (just says no device connected). I went ahead and tried installing the 64-bit Vista driver from Dell hoping that would solve the issue, but it just led to another problem. Now when I use the 5.1 jack Windows recognizes the hardware, but when testing the sound by clicking on the speaker icons I only get audio when clicking the rear left and rear right speakers but the audio is heard coming from the front left/right speakers.  Since that wasn't working out for me, I've connected my 5.1 system to the stereo L/R output jack for the time being and set the hardware to "fake" the 5.1 by just sending the L/R audio to the rear speakers and mix the 2 channels for the centre speaker. Unfortunately, my sub is not putting out very much bass in this configuration. Does anyone know of a solution for these Sigmatel audio chips yet? I'd love to be able to use my 5.1 system as it was intended but I'm at a loss.

After installing Win 7 & getting online, I found the necessary drivers for all the hardware installed except for my audio device. It is a Sigmatel STAC9750/51 multimedia audio controller factory installed on my laptop. I found one driver but it didn't find a supported OS. Will a Vista driver work? Is it possible this audio controller works on XP, but not on Vista or Win 7?

All Programs Won't Display And Speech Recognition Won't Start
My speech recogntiion won't start. I don't have a system restore that far back, but it hasn't been working since 3, maybe 4 updates back and I am now just getting around to it, since I have had other concerns lately. The error I get is "Speech recognition could not start because the language configuration is not supported. The recognizer language must match the language of the user interface. Please change the recognizer language in the Speech Recognition control panel under Advanced Options." I go there and press certain buttons and I sometimes get the error message "The requested task can not be carried out because the neccesary engine can not be created. Please select a different engine and/or audio device." I have tried changing the laguage and then restarting and it still won't work. I am using the same mic I was using before when it worked. I have not installed any new sound drivers when it stopped although I have looked for the sound drivers since and there are no new ones. I also had two other problems after the same Windows 7 update with the All Programs not displaying in the Start Menu, but I have dont a temporary fix with that, but it is still not working the way it is supposed to as I had to make a new sub folder in the Programs folder and change the location to that folder every time I start up Windows and so now I go into All Programs and then a second folder, which is ok for now, gonna write a batch file to do it for me anyway. The other problem is that my sidebar wouldn't start, but I think I fixed that last night. As my gadgets are now working.

Sigmatel Stac92XX C-Major HD Audio Driver Sound Problem
I have A Dell XPS 420 with a Sigmatel Stac92XX C-Major HD Audio Driver and I was running Windows Vista X64 SP1 and everything was working fine. I just recently installed Windows 7 RT Build 7100 and the Generic High Definition Audio Device Driver Installed and all types of media play, but it's causing a crackling sound in my audio and not only that it actually corrupts the file so if I were to play a MP4 on my XBOX 360 it also has the crackling noise even if the file was originally fine. I don't know the last Sigmatel Driver that was on my Vista Build but I tried a few of them and even tried in Vista install mode but none of them work & I tried all the codecs packs that I always install and still nothing. What should I do and is this a driver problem that's causing the crackling noise and corrupting my files or is their something else to this please help because it's driving me crazy?

However, after I run the installer, my screen does not blink and once installation is complete, I do not see a change in the driver version - and catalyst is not installed as well. However, when i am trying to re-install it says the drivers are already installed. Any ideas as to whats going wrong? Its a 32-bit OS. I cannot run any OpenGL games, they fail saying it could not load OpenGL.

Network HP Printer Won't Install
Trying to install an HP 2100 tn printer through a Linksys router to a Win 7 62 Pro machine. Win 7 drivers for Asus MB, Marvell Card and latest firmware for Linksys router. Tried Win 7 printer installation routines a jillion times...and it couldn't find the printer (power cycled router and printer several times). Used HP latest network diagnostic but it can't find the printer. Used latest PCL 5, 6 and PS drivers from HP - nothing. Used netsniffer with HP diagnostic and it looks like the diagnostic sees the printer (reports the correct i.p. address) but doesn't identify it as a printer. Went back to XP where the printer works and found it is currently working with IPX protocol. Anyone have any ideas? I don't want to buy a new printer, or stick with XP.

Upgrade From Vista, Won't Finish Install
I've tried four times to upgrade my vista 64 bit to windows 7, everytime it gets to about 62% complete it just stays there. I'll leave it running for two days and it just won't finish. I've have over five thousand my lastest build, and it all runs great on Vista 64. The compatibility wizard shows no issue before I start the upgrade. If I boot to the CDrom first with the windows 7, it starts coping the disc and then I get the Friggin BLUE Screen, everytime. I've been building sytems for over fifteen years, I've owned every kind of windows ever made. I've probably paid for Bill Gates car (one of them anyway).I could do a clean install, but I don't want to pay for all the software I've installed again.

SigmaTel High Definition Audio Codec For Sony Vaio VGC-RC110G
I have a Sony Vaio VGC-RC110G and installed Windows 7 RC 32 bit and it went smoothly 'cept for 2 missing drivers. The main one is the sound device as it is NOT being read. I can't get any sound. I spent several hours on the net looking for a compatiable driver, and alot of people ran into trouble with the SigmaTel High Definition Audio Codec when they upgraded to Vista. Tested a bunch of drivers (from Sony site and even updated sound drivers from Dell) and none worked. Even downloaded some program called detective driver to help me find compatiable driver but I'd have to pay $30 to activate the program. I would but Im afraid it might not find it.

Win7 Won't Install On 64 Bit Compatible Hardware
I just built a custom PC using the guts of an older Alienware with a few new upgrades:MOBO: Asus P5N32-SLI DeluxeCPU: Intel Pentium D 3.4GHz (4MB L2) supports EM64TRAM: 4GB (4X1GB) I tried installing a retail copy of Win7 Ultimate 64-bit and i get as far as the beautiful blue flowery background and a mouse cursor that just sits there doing nothing. When i pop in the 32-bit DVD, then i can install without a problem. Once the 32-bit installation finished up, i checked the "performance information and tools" and the reports stated that my machine is indeed 64-bit capable. I also checked the Intel and Asus support sites and determined that both my CPU and chipset are 64-bit compatible. The only other thing i can think of is that the Win7 DVD does not contain a 64-bit version of my SATA controlller and thus cannot access my hard drive. The issue with that is there doesn't seem to be an option to load drivers as it used to be available in XP by pressing F6.Any ideas?
