When I am listening to music, sometimes the sound is distorted for a short period of time.
This also happens if I return from a break, and my display turns on when I move the mouse (while the music is still playing).
If I just listen to music, and don't do other things, it does not occur as far as I tested.
If your trying to change a bios setting or Reformat any of the newer Dell Laptop's you may run into this issue! There is an Administrator password you will be prompted for. I believe this is created at the factory and unplugging the bios battery no longer does the trick! I tried many different passwords combos and found that:<dell> all lowercase and minus the brackets works for a few of the newer Dell Laptops

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell 1720 laser printer that says it is compatible with windows 7 64 bit. Windows update downloads the driver but says there was a problem during installation. I've uninstalled the printer and tried several times to install it, but I get stuck at the same spot. I downloaded the drivers on the dell website and have the same problem, it just will not install.

In Windows 7 I have a volume icon in task bar, but no audio output I can hear... Windows 7 is using the digital output with spidf, which I can't use, it shows no other option. I can't seem to install the original drivers (from Dell, for XP), they fail (sez they're not the right drivers for my hardware, even though I tried installing as Administrator).
In XP, device manager reports the SigmaTel High Definition Audio CODEC, what am I missing here? I think I'm needing to install the "legacy audio" drivers?

The audio card is able to output sound however while playing back any prolonged audio, ie music, the playback is unacceptably interrupted with digital artifacts such as skips and pops. This behavior is experienced using a variety of drivers. All drivers have been uninstalled using device manager and then the system has been rebooted before installing the next driver. Also all of the other dell recommended drivers have been installed without a hitch. Finally all windows patches are up to date.I started with the driver provided by Microsoft and continued to try the recommended driver from dell, R171788. I have also tried the following additional driver packages from dell, R108276, R147073, and R171789.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've had my laptop Dell INSPIRON N5030 for about a year.It was working fine up till now but when I boot it up it gives me a windows recovery error.It says: windows failed to start. a recent hardware or software might be the cause.When I choose the launch start repair, it just gives me the windows screen with the mouse and nothing happens.Then if i choose load windows normally, it will just go to the loading screen then it'll stay there for a while then go back to the windows recovery error.I've also tryed to reboot the hard drive by pressing F12, but it won't let me it just puts me back on to the windows recovery error screen.

I went to turn my laptop on the other morning and as usual the dell logo came up and loaded, then the windows symbol saying "starting windows"... then strangely a black screen with a cursor arrow... nothing more, no log in screen... just black nothingness... I'm running Dell Inspiron 1525 Windows 7 64-bit and having problems with my beatuful dell touchpad, which works just fine except horizontal and vertical scrolling. I have already read some materials on the web and have downloaded of couble of useless stuff but the problems hasn't gone. I like my Dell Inspiron 1525, but the 64-bit drivers really suck.
On another partiiton I'm running SuSE and it looks much better than Windows 7.
