Incredibly Long Boot Times And Freezing On Lenovo Laptop
Dec 26, 2012
I bought a Lenovo G555 laptop in new condition, and it can't be more than two years old. For quite some time, it's had several annoying problems. Most notably, it occasionally completely freezes; this can occur while using it, or when opening the lid after it has not been in use. The second issue is that the time it takes to boot up is no less than 20 to 30 minutes. This occurs whether the computer is restarted or booted up after being off. Here are the remedies I have already tried:
-Restoring to factory condition (several times)
-Daily antivirus scans (full scans once a week) with the most up to date virus definitions (I use avast! and nothing is detected)
-Full Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware scans with the most up to date definitions (no malware found)
I do not have an extreme amount of software installed, as I think I'm pretty careful about what I install on my PCs.On top of this, beginning today, Windows is now reporting there is a problem with the battery and it needs to be replaced, but the problems described above began long before this happened.

I recently purchased a new PC and it was working very well the first few days. I eventually installed a power source and video card from my previous computer into my new computer, and I began to have issues. When I boot up computer, I will see a solid underscore for about at least a minute before it finally boots up. Previous to this, it would boot up in under 10 seconds. I installed an Antec earth watts 500 and a nvidia gts 450. I updated the drivers. Other factors: Installed avg free, malwarebytes free, installed a couple of games and some programs like MSI Afterburner. I scanned my entire system with both of the security programs listed earlier. I checked my connections inside the computer and everything is snug and secure. I couldn't see any issues.

I recently installed Adobe Design Premium CS4 on my HP Pavilion Elite desktop computer. Soon after, I started to experience long boot times of up to ten minutes.
So far, I have:
1. Ran HP diagnostics on all my hardware - all passed.
2. Checked in Event Viewer, which confirmed the long boot times, but gave me little idea of what causes it.
3. Rolled back my NVIDIA GTX 460 driver to version 270.61, but that made no difference.
4. Ran a full anti-virus scan in Safe Mode using Malwarebytes - nothing showed up.
5. Checked running processes in case the CPU was being overworked - again, nothing showed up.
6. Disconnected my Hitachi USB backup drive and my SD MS Office documents-backup flash card.
7. Ran a boot trace using Cluberti's tutorial, but the computer blue screened shortly after the trace started to run, so I decided not to pursue that line of fault-finding any further.
8. Reinstalled Windows and my applications and discovered that the long boot times only restarted AFTER I reinstalled Adobe Design Premium CS4.
7. Uninstalled CS4 and the long boot times appear to have disappeared.
So, as the title of this thread suggests, can Adobe Design Premium CS4 cause long boot times with Windows 7, and if so, why?

Lenovo laptop with Windows 7 OS. The laptop shut down while plugged in overnight. I have removed the battery and let it sit for hours to cool/reset. Upon power up, the hard drive light comes on for 2-3 seconds, then goes off. Sometimes the screen flickers white for another 2-3 seconds, but the OS never boots up. I have removed the hard drive and plugged it into another computer via a SATA cable. I was able to read data. The drive appears to be working. I ran Malware Bytes and it cleared off some suspect files (PUP.FunWebProducts and PUP.MyWebSearch). I have a log file to post if helpful. When I put the hard drive back into the laptop, I get the same result as before. I made a recovery disc on another Win 7 computer and attempted to boot the Lenovo from the disc, but still I get the same result. I have tried pressing F8 at start up, but still no joy. Is this a BIOS issue, failed HD controller, or something else?

my new windows install has suddenly started to take several minutes to shutdown. I only had a few programs installed when this started. I un-installed each program and did a registry clean to see if any of them was causing the issue, but nothing helped. All that are now installed are the motherboard drivers and such.
This is a list of what is still installed:
Etron USB3.0 Controler
Intel Control Center
Intel HD Graphics Driver
Intel Management Engine
Intel Rapid Storage
Realtek Ethernet
Realtek Audio Driver
I have gone through some things to try to determine what is causing the issue, but have had no success. I checked the shutdown performance logs, and there were allot of warnings. These just seemed to give the shutdown time, but no indication of what was causing the delay. This issue did not exist when I first installed. The computer has no internet connection at the moment, so I have not done windows update or anything like that. There is no possibility of their being a virus for the same reason. Before uninstalling the apps, I tried msconfig with selective startup (all boxes unchecked), and diagnostic startup and neither reduces the shutdown time.

for the past year or so- it has had this issue of incredibly high CPU and Physical Memory usage- I'll show a screenshot with my Task Manager up so you can see.I found this website by searching in google- and it led me to this thread: url...So I tried HijackThis- and I'll paste below what I got; including the error message that popped up when it first ran.But before I show you guys the screenshots and such; lemme e'splain. I almost NEVER turn off my computer- yes, I'm a horrible person, I know. And it's a laptop that I never take off the charger- again, horrible person, I know. Sorry. Not the point- and I do constantly leave up Photoshop and Google Chrome because I am either playing music or just don't have the patience to close and reopen them every couple of hours. HOWEVER- before recently; when I hit some very bad viruses (or at least I believe I did) my computer didn't mind running PS CS4 and Chrome- even with multiple tabs open. I contracted some horrid virus- and I don't remember all that happened but I took it to a store on my college campus and they repaired my computer- so all's well that end's well. After they fixed it- it worked great for a couple more months, and now maybe I have another one? All I know is my fan won't turn off and I can't even touch my desk under my laptop with how hot it is. I just installed a completely fresh windows 7. I wiped and formatted the hard drive prior to installation. For some reason the install took like 7 hours. And afterwards, it still runs horrifically slow. I checked task manager and it shows my CPU usage at 100%. I checked applications and processes, and there are very few there, and all are between 2-8% CPU usage. I'm not very tech savy so I'm just going by the number shown under the CPU column in the Processes tab. Also it says there are 33-35 processes running, even though it only lists about 8 in the task manager. I've only installed 2 things since I installed windows 7, and those are google chrome and microsoft security essentials. Before someone says that either of those 2 could be the problem, they were installed afterwards, and it was slow and laggy before then. Windows has supposedly updated all the stuff it needed to because it restarted and updated a number of times, and I'm no longer getting update messages.I'm using an Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU E7500 @ 2.93GHz with 4 gigs of ram.

PC: Eee PC 900HA
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 32bit
Disk: G.Skill Falcon 64GB SSD
So, long story short, I reformated my Eee PC because I couldn't run WEI after the first time. Boot times were great (a bar and a half at the 7 boot logo). However, I installed Daemon Tools Lite and this went up to 5 and a half bars while booting. I am speed obsessed. So, I uninstalled this software and boot times are the same. How can I fix this?

got Windows 7 up and runninfor a while now , but I am noticing that my boot time is quite long, at least, that how it feels to me. Ive got a pretty strong laptop, so 80 seconds or even 2 minutes at a certain point to boot up seems strange, right? And this is when I've got almost no software installed, it's still mostly a clean laptophen I did the clean install, I had to convert the disk from GPT to MBR,otherwise I could not have installed Windows. Is it because this conversion that my boot time has increased? My laptop supports UEFI, and UEFI needs GPT in order to work.

I am running Windows 7. Everything was running fantastic and life was free of tensions. But now my laptop has started behaving like a tortoise. Browsers get unresponsive, media players get unresponsive, CCleaner is so slow, that it took 2 hours to assess the files to clean. It makes weird noises inside as if it's making poop. But hell I don't know what it is. I turned it upside down and removed all the screws except one, so I don't if too much dust is making this happen. Whatever it might be[CODE]

i'm having a major issue with loading times on my windows 7 pc.every time i boot my pc it takes 5 mins or more for the hdd to stop loading files and for the computer to become responsive, after which it runs reasonably fast, but the hdd is always actively seeking. (it used to run near instantaneous but now it's taking it's sweet time and then some)i've tryed virus scans, spyware scans, i've also found and removed some stubborn malware i never knew existed.uninstalled old programs, cleared temps, disk chkd, dfrg, system restored, used msconfig and disabled any unneeded apps but there has been no improvement.
