Lenovo laptop with Windows 7 OS. The laptop shut down while plugged in overnight. I have removed the battery and let it sit for hours to cool/reset. Upon power up, the hard drive light comes on for 2-3 seconds, then goes off. Sometimes the screen flickers white for another 2-3 seconds, but the OS never boots up. I have removed the hard drive and plugged it into another computer via a SATA cable. I was able to read data. The drive appears to be working. I ran Malware Bytes and it cleared off some suspect files (PUP.FunWebProducts and PUP.MyWebSearch). I have a log file to post if helpful. When I put the hard drive back into the laptop, I get the same result as before. I made a recovery disc on another Win 7 computer and attempted to boot the Lenovo from the disc, but still I get the same result. I have tried pressing F8 at start up, but still no joy. Is this a BIOS issue, failed HD controller, or something else?

I bought a Lenovo G555 laptop in new condition, and it can't be more than two years old. For quite some time, it's had several annoying problems. Most notably, it occasionally completely freezes; this can occur while using it, or when opening the lid after it has not been in use. The second issue is that the time it takes to boot up is no less than 20 to 30 minutes. This occurs whether the computer is restarted or booted up after being off. Here are the remedies I have already tried:
-Restoring to factory condition (several times)
-Daily antivirus scans (full scans once a week) with the most up to date virus definitions (I use avast! and nothing is detected)
-Full Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware scans with the most up to date definitions (no malware found)
I do not have an extreme amount of software installed, as I think I'm pretty careful about what I install on my PCs.On top of this, beginning today, Windows is now reporting there is a problem with the battery and it needs to be replaced, but the problems described above began long before this happened.

I need help and suggestions on what to do with this black screen crisis. Mine is a little different that others. so sorry if this is a repeated thread. ive looked everywhere, and no one has the issue when they have dual boot.I have dual boot on my laptop with windows 7 ultimate 32 bit and windows 7 home premium 64 bit. the home premium came pre installed on the laptop and the ultimate version i installed later dual boot (i needed some capabilities that home premium doesn't have).I cannot see anything on my screen after windows logo while booting up my laptop bcz of the black screen after the windows logo. When i boot into WINDOWS 7 HOME PREMIUM. i hear windows logon screen notification noise but see nothing! oddly enough even my built in webcam logs me in with VeriFace software with my face, passwordless! ALSO my laptop boots fine with windows 7 ultimate and i can see everything, and it works great! i need the other version to WORK cause my life is in that other version of windows. i cannot factory restore!!!
What i have tried: the keyboard is also unresponsive, bcz i held down a bunch of keys to see if it makes the beep noise. I closed the laptop lid to see if it goes into hibernation and waited 3 mins to see if it still does, so that when i open it i can see everything (it has worked before). nothing. i rebooted a bunch of times even with a second screen attached, tried to guess switch into projector mode with my function key and switch screen/projector button. i have also done a power cycle. i think the registry is screwed, or maybe the graphics card drivers are ruined. have not done a registry repair through the other windows version (doing that next). i have defragged both partitions for both of the windows 7 versions through the one that works. What may have caused it: the last time i used home premium, i rebooted so that i can use the ultimate version (for the extra capabilities). i was not watching and it booted up in home premium, and the built in cam is so fast that i merely looked at the laptop and it logged me in. i was being unpatient, bcz you have to wait for the lenovo programs to load before you can restart. so i forced shut down (very bad idea) by holding the power button and booted up in ultimate finally while watching.

i recently ordered the lenovo ideaPad netbook s10 and should be getting it soon, it comes with xp, so i purchased a windows 7 upgrade from win741. for $32.00. they link you to a download .iso and .exe. i downloaded both files and have a product key.
so the question is how should i go about upgrading? do i just copy the .exe file on my desktop? i take it that the .iso needs to be burned to disk and installed by disk drive, but not available with my netbook.

I bought the Windows 7 Professional Upgrade and was running the Windows upgrade Advisor. It says your current graphics adapter wont support Windows Aero user interface. If you want to experience the benefits of Aero contact your PC Manufacturer or retailer to see if Upgrade is available.
I've attached the graphics properties as a image.
What should i do here ? I understand just 128 MB is more than enough for Aero. I dont why im getting this problem ?
Should i go ahead and clean install Windows 7 and is there is updated driver for this ?

I recently installed the RC build 7100 (64-bit) onto a Lenovo Z61p laptop. Everything seems to be proceeding normally ... however, there is one thing that I do not understand ...
The Device Manager shows a device that is not recognized. It is a "Mass Storage Controller" and the location is "PCI bus 21, device 0, function 2" and no other meaningful information whatsoever.
Can someone help with any information about this? What is it and what driver should I use to enable it (or not)? Etc.

I will be using some parts of this Lenovo and I will use the new parts that I get to build a better pc. Im going to be keeping the Lenovo HD (hard drive) and im wondering if I can just use the Operating system that is already installed on the hard drive. Is there anyway I can do this or do I have to buy a whole new copy of windows?

I have a brand new, 40-hour-old, Lenovo T400 with Windows 7 Home Premium factory-installed. I had my cable company come out to set up the broadband this morning, but they couldn't set up my email because Windows Live Mail is not compatible for configuration with my local cable broadband. They also couldn't install the free anti-virus service that comes with the cable modem service, because it is not compatible with Windows 7.
This is my first computer in 5 years (was offline entirely for 4.5 years until last June, when I got my Blackberry, so please forgive my naiivette' [sorry, I know that is mis-spelled; I don't know how to type an "i" with an umlaut; my BB auto-corrects the spelling on that word]), so I have never used Vista before, but have read enough to know that it sounds like a disaster waiting to happen. Is there a way to downgrade a factory-installed Windows 7 OS on a Lenovo T400 to XP?
In my past 16-hr attempt to get non-web-based email for a $1000+ device that is beginning to seem more like just a really expensive DVD and MP3 player with minimal web abilities, while my $50 Blackberry has email, near-normal desktop web browsing (except Flash Media), text, phone, video, and mp3 player capabilities; I called the cable company (Mediacom) who told me to call Lenovo or Microsoft.
Called Lenovo first, and according to the tech I spoke with, the ONLY free non-web-based email client that is compatible with the combination of Windows 7 on a Lenovo T400 with cable broadband, that would allow access to email from more than 1 email address from different email providers, is Thunderbird, HOWEVER, when I went to download it from Mozilla, I kept getting warning messages that Thunderbird is infected with viruses. Does anyone know where I can find a virus-free copy of Thunderbird? Like a mirror site, or maybe from a file-sharing site from someone who downloaded/uploaded it before it was infected? The tech said he had no other solutions and told me to call Microsoft.
So, I called Microsoft, who said they could only *tell* me the name of a free non-web-based email client that could consolidate the messages from several email accounts and is Windows 7 and cable broadband compatible and compatible with my T400, for the "bargain price" of $59.95! I felt like I was talking to an organized crime syndicate, 'yeah, we'll give you the information...for a price.' They said since Mom bought it for me for Christmas from Lenovo, that Lenovo is allegedly responsible for any software/OS issues.
I called Lenovo back, and they said they are only responsible for the hardware, so between the two companies I apparently have NO technical support for my Windows 7 (in the event I have another problem besides no compatible email client), or any assistance in finding what non-virus-infected email clients are compatible with Windows 7 and cable broadband, are not web-based, and are capable of consolidating messages from more than one email address from different email providers, and store messages in an inbox that can be accessed offline, and would work on T400. Does *anyone* know of a free email client that meets these requirements?
Also, if I do have another OS problem, since neither MS, nor Lenovo, are allegedly responsible for the installed OS, does anyone know if there is a contracted 3rd company to deal with that, or some other way of supporting Windows 7? Because it was factory installed at Lenovo, I never received a Windows 7 backup disk or any MS or Windows literature; so if it gets corrupted or something, and neither MS nor Lenovo are responsible for OS or software issues, who would be responsible for fixing OS/software issues?
Lenovo said MS was, and the warranty information booklet from Lenovo only covers hardware, specifically exempting pre-installed software: yet MS swears it is Lenovo's responsibility, and I can pay MS techs $60/question to have them tell me again that it is Lenova's responsibility and that MS can't do anything. Someone PLEASE tell me that there is a legitimate 3rd party responsible for supporting my OS 7; that there is some legitimate way to get a backup disk of my OS 7; and that there is either a free, virus-free email client that meets my above reqirements, or that I can somehow downgrade to XP that has a built-in email client.
