Windows 7 Fresh Install, Incredibly Slow And 100% CPU Usage

Nov 7, 2011

I just installed a completely fresh windows 7. I wiped and formatted the hard drive prior to installation. For some reason the install took like 7 hours. And afterwards, it still runs horrifically slow. I checked task manager and it shows my CPU usage at 100%. I checked applications and processes, and there are very few there, and all are between 2-8% CPU usage. I'm not very tech savy so I'm just going by the number shown under the CPU column in the Processes tab. Also it says there are 33-35 processes running, even though it only lists about 8 in the task manager. I've only installed 2 things since I installed windows 7, and those are google chrome and microsoft security essentials. Before someone says that either of those 2 could be the problem, they were installed afterwards, and it was slow and laggy before then. Windows has supposedly updated all the stuff it needed to because it restarted and updated a number of times, and I'm no longer getting update messages.I'm using an Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU E7500 @ 2.93GHz with 4 gigs of ram.

Windows 7 Home 64bit Suddenly Incredibly Slow - SMART Check Failure

Jul 15, 2012

I have been using my HP Pavilion g6 laptop for around a year now, and so far it has been smooth sailing. However, around a day or two ago, my computer suddenly became unbearably slow on normal mode. I would try to open google chrome and it would freeze up my computer, and even opening the start menu took an incredible amount of time. This was a sudden onset of slowness and I cannot remember if I installed any updates that may have caused this. Using even safe mode, opening the uninstall part of control panel would take ages. I have tried many things to fix this:Used SFC/scannow, caused a crash.

Used disk check on safe mode, says that I need to defrag 1% of the disk. However, It also says there is a SMART check failure. I am quite confused about this because when I looked again it said that the smart status was "good". (HP support center) Deleted temporary files Checked task manager to see if there was any processes that were taking up too much memory, it looks good normally. However, on normal mode whenever I would open chrome the CPU would spike to 60%.

Specs are:
AMD A6-3400M APU with Radeon graphics.

Slow To Connect To Internet After Fresh Install?

Nov 28, 2012

I was dealing with a BSOD problem which I was helped with greatly over in the BSOD section. It basically led me to doing a fresh install of windows 7, and I have not had a BSOD since. But since I have done a fresh install, When I wake my desktop up from sleep mode, it takes about a minute to a minute and a half for it to connect to my network. Before I did the fresh install. I would wake my computer up, and my internet connection would be ready right away. My wireless adapter is TL-WN851ND. I have turned off the power save feature on my adapter, and also turned off the power save feature that windows has, and its still doing this, and I really cant figure out why. Its really not a HUGE deal, as long as it connects, but I am an extremely impatient person when it comes to things like this.

Memory Usage Gets Slow After Usage

Nov 10, 2012

When I first boot up the machine and start using it (win 7 ultimate 64bit) the memory usage stays arround 40%. If I keep using it, the memory usage will slowly increase until it reaches 99%. If I boot up the machine and just leave it there for a couple of hours, the same happens.I try to restart (via windows), it logs off, shuts down the system, the coolers keep spinning, the motherboard lights are still on, but it doesn't boot up again. It remains like that. I have to restart via reset button or power button.

Formatted Windows 7 PC For Fresh Start - Slow Boot Up

Oct 12, 2012

I have been using windows 7 for some years. Recently I formatted my pc since unwanted programs, bugs, viruses and junk was accumulating and I wanted a fresh start. The pc came with windows 7 64bit pre-installed and the re-seller gave me a cd along with it. After I formatted the pc (I only formatted the c: drive, I kept all the important and backed up software, drivers and any important documents in the D: drive). After going through procedures and a successful installation the windows booted and apparently it took 5-10 minutes to get to the desktop icons.

Here are the things I did afterwards.
- I tried to boot in safe mode, it just get stuck at classpnp.sys.
- I re installed the os over 9 times now so don't ask to do that.
- I ran repair a lot of times. It does not work.
- I ran registry checks/cleanup, I installed all the correct drivers which are the latest.
- I not stop searched the whole web for 4 straight hours, I seen this happening with a lot of other users.
- Not hardware or software was installed just a clean format.

This happened at the very first boot up after os installation, so installed software's can be ruled out (non was installed). The computer is working just find but the boot up time .... Anyways I think that bios is responsible?

Acer Aspire M3910

Windows 7 Suddenly Very Slow With ~5%CPU Usage?

Dec 22, 2011

until a couple of weeks ago my PC was running perfectly, quickly, etc but one day i turn it on and suddenly EVERYTHING is slow. For example, every time i open a folder in explorer, i have to wait about 30secs for all its contents to load, chrome is being un-usably slow (same with other browsers) even just loading a google search. when i listen to music it often cuts out for several seconds and everything freezes up etcetc but throughout this my CPU will stay very close to 0% (like it should be) i have run virus checks, windows repair, a DDS check (whatever that is) etc and nothing seems out of place. on top of all this now windows is suddenly starting to question if i am using genuine windows 7 (i am) AND have got a few seemingly random BSODs?

SPECS:

Everything is ok in safe mode and i`ve tried running dr web virus checker aswell as installing norton antivirus and malwarebytes on an old windows xp installation on the same pc but theyre not finding anything.

i have already tried many things, such as running anti-virus, malware, and anti-spyware programs which had all come up with no threats. i've run chkdsk, sfc /scannow (which did in fact find corrupt files, but they were unable to be repaired. if anyone can tell me how to repair those files that cannot be repaired, i would appreciate it), and i've also done memory diagnostics, all of which are not identifying with the problem i'm having.

CPU And Memory Incredibly High

May 31, 2012

for the past year or so- it has had this issue of incredibly high CPU and Physical Memory usage- I'll show a screenshot with my Task Manager up so you can see.I found this website by searching in google- and it led me to this thread: url...So I tried HijackThis- and I'll paste below what I got; including the error message that popped up when it first ran.But before I show you guys the screenshots and such; lemme e'splain. I almost NEVER turn off my computer- yes, I'm a horrible person, I know. And it's a laptop that I never take off the charger- again, horrible person, I know. Sorry. Not the point- and I do constantly leave up Photoshop and Google Chrome because I am either playing music or just don't have the patience to close and reopen them every couple of hours. HOWEVER- before recently; when I hit some very bad viruses (or at least I believe I did) my computer didn't mind running PS CS4 and Chrome- even with multiple tabs open. I contracted some horrid virus- and I don't remember all that happened but I took it to a store on my college campus and they repaired my computer- so all's well that end's well. After they fixed it- it worked great for a couple more months, and now maybe I have another one? All I know is my fan won't turn off and I can't even touch my desk under my laptop with how hot it is. BSOD For Fresh Install Windows 7 During SP1?

Sep 13, 2012

I've just made a new fresh install of Windows 7 - 64bits (legal version). Everything was fine, all drivers were up to date. But, when I install updates from Windows Update, during the installation of the SP1 (when the screen is "do not turn off the computer"), the computer reboots, and it said that it occurs a BSOD !? I've seen nothing. According to Whocrashed, it's because of BAD_POOL_HEADER, from ntoskrnl.exe (which belongs to Nvidia I think) and e1c62x64.sys (for Intel LAN)... After reboot, Windows continues slowly its updates like everything was OK... but I wonder is that SP1 & updates have been compromised (poorly done, half or what) 'cause of this BSOD? Should I reformat the computer?Windows Update indicates that all these updates were successful...

BSOD Before And After Fresh Windows 7 Install?

This PC has ran fine since 2008 when it was built. It was recently updated to Windows 7 Pro OEM. During the OS upgrade it had more memory added (4x2GB, all slots filled). Upgrade and install went flawlessly. All software (photoshop, premiere, firefox, antivirus) was re-installed without any errors or hick-ups. Upon updating firefox (I believe the timing was co-incidence) it Blue Screened. It has had issues ever since. So my last stitch effort was to back everything up and re-install Windows and hope that it fixed the problem. Needless to say that it hasn't been fixed and it still randomly blue screens. Windows Memory Diagnostic ran with no errors returned

BSoD After Fresh Windows 7 Install?

Mar 19, 2012

Bought a new computer 2 weeks ago, came in 3 days ago. Been having trouble with it since. Usually I'm the "Mr. Fix-it" when it comes to PC's but I've never messed around with any debugging tools.

I've tried all the troubleshooting you can possibly do when trying to diagnose a blue screen of death. Tried both RAM sticks separately, took the video card out and used on-board video. I even tried both RAM sticks with on-board video separately. Unplugged the DVD-ROM, no avail. I called ASRock and got a technician who I could barely understand, but was telling me something about "XMP". I didn't see the XMP option under the DRAM configuration, even if my sticks don't support it wouldn't the option still be there? I think he has my motherboard confused with another one. He told me to either replace the RAM with new RAM or send the motherboard back in and exchange it.

I came here to see what the BSoD DMP files REALLY have to say the problem is, so I can solve it once and for all. I didn't pay for new hardware to let it sit here and collect dust.

BSOD After Fresh Install Of Windows

Nov 25, 2012

Ive ran memtest86 4.0a and i found several million errors. So i scanned through 1 and 1 ramslot to try to determine which ram was giving the errors, this only resulted in 1 of my 4 ram had only 1 error? I found this weird so i thought it might be the DIMM thats corrupted.

So now i removed 3 of my rams and i only run with 1 which passed the test. Still i get unexpected shutdowns aka BSOD.

Ive tried to remove my SSD and only use my HDD back and forth , changing to IDE inside BIOS, but with no good results at all..
Ive also tried to change my PSU to a different brand, but all volts seems ok.
I also reinstalled windows with USB, CD, from HDD yeah you name it, different versions... etc.. i even tried to install Windows 8 but with the same result

This all actually just started out of the blue, i have no clue how but i didnt install anything , all of the sudden i started having connection problems which resulted in BSOD.

Windows 7 Hangs On Fresh Install On SSD?

Mar 16, 2011

I'm putting together a HTPC using a ASUS E35M1-I Deluxe (AMD Zacate mobo/cpu combo), 30GB Kingston SSD, and 4Gb Crucial DDR3 1066.Problem is when I boot from the Windows install disk I get the "Windows is Loading Files" status bar but when it gets the end it just hangs there. Usually it boots right into the next Windows loading screen. So before I start troubleshooting I want to make sure there's nothing special I need to do with the SSD before installing Windows. Its a brand new drive but I'm pretty certain during the installation process there's a Format option. The Windows install disk was burned from an ISO using IMG Burn at 16x. Before I left for work I started another burn (with img verification) at 8x. But I'm not certain that will help. I've burned plenty of images at 16x speeds without issue.

Fresh Windows 7 Install Freezes

A few days ago, all out of the blue, my PC started to freeze - at that time with VISTA installed. I tried to restart and it froze again, just after a couple of minutes. Tried again, again, again and again. With the same result. Without getting any further I tried to install Windows 7 to get my PC up and running again. Formatted all of partitions to get a fresh and clean start. and it froze again, within a couple of minutes. Now I suspect it may be caused by a hardware problem? What is there to do? What can I do? I`m far from a PC-expert, I HP is somewhere between 1-3 years old I think, and I`ve never encountered this problem before, on this PC or any other.
