View 0 Replies View RelatedI just installed win 7 ult 64 and have questions about Libraries...I have an external hard drive connected to my router and store a lot of my files and back ups on it...
Q1) If I include a folder in a library from the network drive, when I back up or image my laptops local D Data partition, will it duplicated these HUGE folders I have on my network drive? Or will it take up space on my local d data partition to add include those folders in library??
I recently have moved some of my users documents to a newer server from our old server. This caused no real issues and was quite easy to manage. After the move on one particular system, I updated the document library to make sure it was pointing to the new location on the new server, made the files available offline, and let it synchronize. After the synchronization was complete, there were no issues. However, when they try to attach a file to either an email or to a web form through Internet Explorer, the document library from the 'Attach a file' window is still pointing to the old location. When I try to point that library to the new location, it says the folder isn't indexed, although I can have the library open in a windows explorer window and show that it is indexed and in the library. Is there any way I can have the library updated in both Windows and Internet Explorer?
The system is currently running Windows 7 Professional 32Bit.It was running Internet Explorer 8 when the error first appeared, but I updated to Internet Explorer 9 and it is still not working correctly. This is the only system where it is acting like this, I have checked other identical systems that have had this file switch done as well.
When i opened my windows explorer to go to my pictures . there were no folders just 4 boxes that said " pictures.library-ms." ( documents.library-ms. etc ] . i deleted them and tried to restore them but it didnt work . when i go to upload a picture to tumblr it works but not if i want to just upload them to my computer and veiw them .when i tried to save an image to the computer it wouldnt let me it said : " can not save to this location "
View 3 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to sort 'like a library' in windows explorer (omit 'The ' and 'A ' from file names)? i.e. I have the files (sorted as windows would normally do with sort by name):
A File 4.ext
A File 2.ext
File 3.ext
File 7.ext
The File 1.ext
The File 5.ext
The File 6.ext
The File 8.ext
The File 9.ext
And I want:
The File 1.ext
A File 2.ext
File 3.ext
A File 4.ext
The File 5.ext
The File 6.ext
File 7.ext
The File 8.ext
The File 9.ext
I do not want to rename my files like this:
File 1, The.ext
File 2, A.ext
File 3.ext
File 4, A.ext
File 5, The.ext
File 6, The.ext
File 7.ext
File 8, The.ext
File 9, The.ext
Or this:
File 1.ext
File 2.ext
File 3.ext
File 4.ext
File 5.ext
File 6.ext
File 7.ext
File 8.ext
File 9.ext
The file name formats are actually 'The Film.avi' or 'The TV Show SXXEYY.mp4' (where XX is the Series andY Y is the Epesode as a double digit numbers). If there is anyway to do this or a 3rd party program that will work with network sharing (my files are not on the local machine but a file server running windows 7).
I have upgraded to Internet explorer 9 a long time ago. When it first came out as a matter of fact but now when I use ANYTHING that I want to print out (Like MapQuest.com)It will not print any more. I can fire up Fire fox and all printing works just fine. It didn't work even when I had didn't Fire Fox Installed. I just installed Fire Fox to try to see if it would work for my printing needs.why Internet explorer has stoped printing? Right after not printing the web page crashes also.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWe recently installed Yahoo messenger and suddenly the Library folder isn't showing any folders/files under the Administrator account. When I go to create a new Library it reads the following error message: "Unable to create the new file 'New Library.library-ms' File System Error: (16389)." Not only is the library no longer accessible, but I cannot access any of the Music, Pictures or Documents from the Start Menu.I am only able to access the folders using the search bar by selecting "User Name" from the drop down box, then suddenly everything's there. It will not allow me to drag/drop anything into the Library folder or even create a new one.

View 2 Replies View RelatedThis is a brand new machine with a brand new install of Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit SP1. I'm having a problem with the inheritable permissions. In the Advanced Security Settings for one of my games, I'm trying to Include Inheritable Permissions From This Objects Parent. The check box has a check in it and it is grayed out but under Inherited From, is shows <not inherited>.
I click on Change Permissions, the Include Inheritable Permissions isn't grayed out and has a check in the box but when I click on Apply, it doesn't change the inheritable permissions. It's probably something I'm not savvy enough to catch but I think I'm at the limit of my knowledge with this. It shows me as Owner with all permissions but still having a problem getting it to start without a pop up asking if I want to let it run.

Windows 7 Home Premium: I want my PC to sleep after 20 minutes, so I can leave it on all night and come back in the morning and start using it right away. ( I have a password, so no one could steal it or anything, and start using it )
I have a screen saver setup to come on after 5 minutes, and sleep mode after 20.
I have it on a APC UPS set with their software, to silent, so if the power goes out overnight ( very rare and usually short ) it won't beep and wake me up. Besides, if it's asleep, it could literally go for days without power line power.
My problem is not remembering sometimes, because I come in half asleep when I wake up, and see a black screen, then reach over and hit the UPS button, not realizing I'm turning it OFF instead of ON!
But is there a way to set Windows up so that it DOES go to sleep after 20 minutes, but some kind of minimal screen saver keeps going on the screen, so I KNOW it's in sleep mode and not off?
I use the Mystify screen saver anyway, which is pretty minimal, so if that could be kept on while the Hard Drive and everything else that uses power and ages the electronics sleeps, that would be great.
For some reason, I cannot get the photo screen saver to include sub directories. I select either my pictures folder, or my pictures library, and in both cases, it only seems to poll those pictures in the root of pictures, as well as sample pictures.. None of the other folders in the pictures folder get polled... Any suggestions?
Also.. for some reason, the screen saver does not start when it should. I can preview it from the screen saver configuration screen, but it doesn't start on it's own after the allotted time....
I want to tweak my OS down to the core gpedit.msc makes it really simple and everything is there.

View 9 Replies View Relateddoes the Ultimate version of Win7 include both installations x86 and x64?Second question, I usually format my computer pretty often, and I want to save some dough and just get the Upgrade version of Win7 Ultimate. I can use the upgrade over and over again right? Like, if I format my hard drive a bunch of times, as long as that copy of Win7 isn't being used by another machine, I can continue to install it and activate it right? Also, is there any difference between an actual retail copy, and the upgrade?

But I'm posting here to make sure before I try to RMA something again. While I wait for a reply I will run memtest and a HDD diagnostic.EDIT: Also, I think it's worth noting that motherboard does not seem to be able to provide a steady current to the Vcore. I have read that System Repair disks will only have the factory settings of Windows 7, but I don't know if this is the case for all System Repair disks or only those that came with the computer and were made before the computer was purchased?I've also read that a System Repair disk could include a system image. Is this true and done by default when the System Repair disk is created?

The OP is on C drive , and the second drive is in 2 partitions E and F . I save all my important stuff on E and back up E on F. If I use the Library function and shortcut a file from E to startup on C wouldn't it create a way for a hacker or a virus to get into E drive? I hope I explained this right.
