IE8 Playing 'help Audio' When Opening Any New Windows
Jan 6, 2012
When I open IE8, or open a new window, a help audio plays (how to clear the browser cache and delete cookies). I have run Malwarebytes, Spybot SD, and my AVG and they have found nothing. [code]
my hdd died, so i opted for a fresh install of windows 7 professional on the new hdd. i reinstalled all my programs and drivers and such. but i've had the same problem ever since:sometimes, randomly, when i start my computer, these things happen all at once:microsoft games (solitaire, minesweeper, majong, etc.) will not open. i double-click on them, and then nothing. no error, nothing to indicate the computer is trying to open them. if i go directly to the application and try to open them there, same thing. video does not play correctly. in wmp, it just plays the audio and displays a small screenshot of the video (as if it were album art).
divx player won't play anything at all. vlc player would open a separate screen called yuv sdl output. but the latest update for vlc fixed that. if i try to play a dvd, i get this error:windows media player cannot play dvd video. you might need to adjust your windows display settings. open display settings in control panel, and then try lowering your screen resolution and color quality settings. changing the settings does nothing. in radeon catalyst control center, when i'm adjusting the video settings, i will get an error stating the sample video cannot load. if i were to play a game like portal 2 or fallout: new vegas, nothing happens. i put in the disc, and nothing happens. i double-click on the disc, and nothing happens - just as with the windows games. all of these happen at once, randomly, when i start my computer - sometimes everything works fine, sometimes it all stops working. restarting my laptop usually fixes the problem.i went through and updated all my drivers, including the graphics drivers and updated radeon catalyst control center.
-edit-when on Internet or other streaming media sites (doesn't matter which player is being used) if i try to go fullscreen, it turns the screen black and opens a new tab called adobe flash player. but this "tab" is just transparent and nothing displays. the sound still displays fine though. i also can't do anything. everywhere i click, it just stops/plays the sound (as if it was in fullscreen). i have to hit windows+tab or ctrl+alt+delete to get back to regular view.
-edit 2-found another thing affected. i went to check my windows experience index score and it said there is no information available; you haven't run the test yet. but i have multiple times. so i go to run it and nothing happened. i tried several times but had no response.
I'm using windows 7 32bit version and I've been having a lot of pc crashes lately and its getting a blue screen and an error related to irql_not_less_or_equal. i really dont know what it is but i manage to get a minidump file. i dont know how to read this error report but from what i read it tracks down the cause of the problem. i'm hoping to find the answer and fix it. the minidump files are attached, 3 reports all in all
I've just built a PC using Windows7 64 bit Pro as the OS. I like it fine so far. My problem is with audio from my website.I have a website with sound clips in the form of ".aif" files. I developed these clips using FrontPage on Windows XP machine.I tested using IE 32 bit. With the W7 machine, running the 64 bit IE, the sound will not play. When I open with a 32 bit version of IE, the sound plays just fine.
I've done some very basic things, such as update my drivers that needed to be updated, I've also scanned for possible RAT's and malware. Malwarebytes and DarkComet Remover did pop up malware, and they were removed. I have also done a System Restore on this laptop, and well, nothing has worked either. I have anime and media on this computer. (All were backed up just in case the bombshell dropped on this laptop.) This is a issue with drivers, and not the internal parts. I really do not want to loose any of them, or even format the laptop. This laptop works 100% fine while running in Safe Mode w/ Networking, but when I hit a video or audio, it just freezes.
So I built this computer a few weeks ago with Windows 7 Ultimate. Everything sound-wise has been working til a few days ago, but I have been working through some video problems.Since this started on Friday, the sound mixer/volume control shows sound playing. But nothing comes out the speakers. When I click the top, it doesn't say 'speakers', it says 'Realtek audio'. When I click that, the sound window comes up and under "jacks" it says "rear optical jack." The top says S/PDIF. Those are both formats that I have never used on this system.I've always used only the rear panel analog jack.Anyways, I feel like I've tried everything under the sun and I'm close to RMA'ing the motherboard.
I am running Windows 7 Ultimate on VM Fusion (Mac User) with Office 2010 installed. When I record audio on OneNote and then play it back, the playback speed is faster than normal, probably twice as fast. I have tried playing other audio files in Windows and it works just fine.
My PC is connected to two monitors, one to EVGA GTX 560 Ti 448, the other to IGP, both with DVI-D. The former is the main, mostly for me, while the other is used for my wife to watch streaming video. This setting has no problem when I do web surfing or work on office, but reveals an issue when I want to play game, because of two different audio sources - streaming video vs. game. First, I enabled multiple streaming device on Realtek Audio Manager, and then set a game, Portal 2 in this case, audio to headphone. But still two audio sources are being played on speaker.

When using the WMC I have noticed crackling sounds when playing m2ts video files containing AVC and AC-3. I have noticed crackling sounds primarily on start up of the video file and sporadically during playback. At first I thought it might be a hw issue but now I'm not so sure. BTW the video playback appears to be okay...just a problem with the audio.
On the windows sw side I am fully up to date i.e. with Windows 7 HP x64.
On the hardware side I have updated by video and audio drivers to the latest...in fact all the drivers are upto date. The Machine is an Acer Aspire X1470 desktop model with 4 GB of ram. AMD Radeon HD 6410D Graphics (display adapter). AMD A4-3400 APU.
I have tried connecting the audio thru the on-board sound system. I've also tried using an external USB based sound I/F. Which one I use makes no difference...The crackling still comes thru.
Part of the reason I'm led to believe this is not strickly a hw issue is because I've tried playing these same files with XBMC and they play cleanly. So it would seem there is some kind of interaction issue hw and sw when using WMC on this computer. BTW I've tried using WMP (my preferred choice) but the audio and video degradation is markedly worse than WMC. I've included the Media info data for one of the files I've played below:

problem while playing the audio files(like mp3, wav...etc) with front panel headphones, the sound interrupting continuously (like 10 seconds sound-1 second mute-12 second sound-1 s mute-5 s sound-1 s mute) but there is no problem while playing video files. I opened the mixer from taskbar audio icon and saw the headphones device goes and comes cyclically while playing audio files.
i get a little stutter every 2-3 seconds with everything that involves motion pictures e.g games, movies, online games, Internet etc. my music does the same too.happened when i fell asleep watching a movie on Internet, woke up and my screen was black but the pc was still running. turned pc off and back on at the wall, started Internet to watch movie from when i fell asleep.
My audio on my laptop is dragging when i am playing music or music videos on it or any videos for that matter. What do i need to do? Is there maybe something i need to download to make the audio play better?
My computer was recently RMA'd due to a faulty PSU and video card. I just received it back and the speakers that I used before no longer work. I figured it was a driver issue and simply downloaded the RealTek drivers but it didn't fix the problem. The AMD card comes with its own drivers. I had problems in the past with their HD audio codecs and tried uninstalling them but that didn't seem to fix it either. I went into device manager and located that there were drivers installed and they checked out. I checked for hidden or disabled devices in "Playback devices" and didn't find any.
Things I've tried: - Installing audio drivers. - Uninstalling and reinstalling audio drivers. - System restore. - Checking proper connection of speakers. - Verification that speakers work.
By just looking at the audio mixer, it would appear that the system is playing sounds because there is activity in the mixer when a song or other sounds are playing. The problem is there is nothing coming from the speakers. Is it possible that my audio ports on the motherboard could be faulty?

Recently the hiccups that happen when playing hich bitrate audio (happens in 320 kbps and not in 192) and videos (HD) started to really annoy me so I came here.I have windows 7, intel i7 870 processor, roland UA-4FX USB sound card, radeon hd5800 graphics card, and 4gb ram, I think all of them have up to date drivers. The clicking intensifies when doing rather CPU-heavy things like opening microsoft word but it is always there in high bitrate files, but the CPU load never goes above 20% in task manager. The hiccups are such that audio playback stops for a very short time periodically and making a click sound as if you removed the cable of the speaker.
My desktop keeps stuttering every few minutes or so. I have all of the drivers up to date and I cannot figure out what is wrong. The problem occurs the most while watching Netflix and playing games, but happens pretty regularly in general.

Audio ads is constantly playing on my laptop, i don't know where it's coming from, but it's consistent, one after the other, it would start the first few minutes when i turn on my laptop, I tried spyware, Microsoft essential, and CCleaner, and i haven't gotten luck with i
this device is being used by another application. please close any devices that are playing audio to this device and try again. is what it is saying when i try to test , its hdmi ti hdmi from pc to tv i got picture but no audio and cable works fine on frineds pc and tv?
I turned my computer on to find no audio playing. My main audio device plays bac audio from DAW just fine but if I load a video in WMP i get a code C00D11B1. If I try to play a test tone in the sound settings I get "Failed to play test tone". I have other audio devices connected and also get the same errors which makes me think this is a registry error or some windows communication error. The only thing I think might have caused this is when I was trying to get my ram to run at 1866. This is a new build and the ram should run at this speed as it is in the QVL but that is another issue. I should also mention that I have tried reloading the device drivers, updated the BIOS, and restyored windows from a previous state with no change.

I need to download a GPS update from Nikon for my camera. It only comes as a .ee file and Windows 7 won't open it. I have looked online for programs that will open it but am afraid of choosing the wrong program.
I am using Windows 7 and find new windows open behind my current window. For example, if I am in Outlook and click 'New', the new mail window opens behind the main Outlook window. Also, I do not think the issue is specific to Outlook but I cant repeat it consistently enough with any other application to be sure.
Not sure how I have done it but all of my zip files are coming up with open up with "adobe reader" in properties and will not open. When I browse under "Change" Windows Explorer is not available as an option. Any advice on changing back from Adobe t what ever it was before or which programme
I have become recently frustrated with my programs not opening up on windows 7. the programs that won't open are all internet browsers, norton, any games (except for ones like solitaire) and it's been lagging quite a bit lately.
1) Start -> Control Panel -> System & Security -> Administrative Tools -> View Event Logs
2) Click Windows Logs -> System -> and when i click "Level," I get three red "X"s that say critical and the source is "Kernel-Power" and a whole lot of things that have red "!"s.
