For example, if I am in Outlook and click 'New', the new mail window opens behind the main Outlook window. Also, I do not think the issue is specific to Outlook but I cant repeat it consistently enough with any other application to be sure.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have become recently frustrated with my programs not opening up on windows 7. the programs that won't open are all internet browsers, norton, any games (except for ones like solitaire) and it's been lagging quite a bit lately.
1) Start -> Control Panel -> System & Security -> Administrative Tools -> View Event Logs
2) Click Windows Logs -> System -> and when i click "Level," I get three red "X"s that say critical and the source is "Kernel-Power" and a whole lot of things that have red "!"s.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a problem, and I'm wondering how I'd fix it. My router only allows 10 ports to be forwarded, and I require more than that for the games that I play. How unsafe would it be to open DMZ to my computer, so that I could allow the ports through Windows Firewall, and block everything else? Or is there a more secure, preferably free, firewall I should use to do that?

View 7 Replies View RelatedAbout a week or so ago we had a big storm that knocked the power out a few times... my computer rebooted each time and after the second time Kaspersky detected a "memory mode kernal" or something like that (I accidentally deleted it from the list) and stated it had the same pattern as Klogger or something like that. I thought it was odd but after those restarts programs started to open slower on my computer than normal and sometimes I could see at the top of the program it would say 'program not responding' or something along those lines. This has mostly happened with Furcadia and Firefox but other programs like Adobe Elements come up slower than normal and even Windows 7 sticky notes come up slower. So what I have done was rebooted in safe mode and ran scans with both Malwarebytes and Kaspersky (with no problems to report as far as malware/viruses), ran CClearner, then ran defraggler (in normal windows). The problems seem to have gotten worse so I did a Memtest86 scan to see if it was my memory... no errors were shown (Memtest86 was ran after the most recent update to windows). So I still have some of the problems but for some things not as bad or just about the same as before. However, with my last reboot my computer had stalling problems.. it was trying to install the drivers for my new keyboard and load everything else (including NVIDIA System Monitor, Internet connection, Kaspersky, adobe reader update message, and windows action center [maybe something else too, I closed some of that stuff afterwards]).

View 8 Replies View RelatedAll of a sudden today, whenever I open up any program/application (firefox, control panel, documents) the actual window comes up pretty slowly. I don't know if it's a huge problem but it's pretty annoying. Before, if I were to open firefox, the client would open up automatically but now it slowly opens and kind of fades into the screen. I don't think my computer got slower all of a sudden, because it is working fine and it was perfect just yesterday. The same problem happens when I close a window, it slowly fades away instead of just instantly closing.

It was out of my phone for about two weeks; during this time it saw no physical harm. Now when i put it back in my cell phone, it asks me for "memory card password" which i have no idea of and on the mobile's device manager it shows the memory card to be "locked".When i put it on the computer with my memory card reader even windows failed to open it.Attempts to troubleshoot it via windows failed and Recuva failed to scan it too.

View 2 Replies View RelatedSo far, iv tried fixing things with the Windows 7 install disk, and have run a ton of anti virus/malware/spyware stuff. They found nothing. I also cant restore to a earlier date. This all happened after some Oct 14th windows updates. From what I read, it does some stuff to your registry keys? Other than that, I have absolutly no idea. It wont even open x86 programs when its in a safe mode startup or during a clean boot. I also tried making a new user in case mine was curropted, but that didnt seem to do anything either. Would completly nuking my harddrive and reinstalling be my only option at this point?
I dont have a soundcard. I have a MA785GT-GT Gigabyte motherboard with onboard 7.1 surround. I tried to download the drivers for it, but I cant run that program either. I cant run anything thats not stricly a x64 program. Also, whenever I try to open a media file outside of a x64 program, I get a prompt that says Server Execution Failed. That only happens with media files
As a side note, If it is a registry foul-up that happened in the update, could registry reflection or redirection in the WOW6432node do anything? Registry keys are confusing to me, could someone tell me anything about this?
If worst comes to worst ,what is the best way to go about formating a harddrive? I'v never had to do it before. I have Hiren's boot CD and that has a pretty agressive nuking program.Would that be the best way to go about it?
When opening a pdf file it goes to windows media center and when saving to desktop or documents it goes there also. How can I access?

View 1 Replies View RelatedAt the risk of being tagged a Luddite, as a writer I still prefer to use DOS-based Xywrite for raw word- processing. XP permitted me to open this full screen with an "Alt/Enter" combination, but Vista permits only a relatively small window. I've tried installing XP to a partition, to no avail, so remain somewhat frustrated. Bottom line: will the "virtual XP" element of Windows 7 permit me to open DOS-based programs full-screen?
View 29 Replies View RelatedA few days ago I removed a virus from my computer and after some work I thought I had restored the computer back to normal. Everything seems to be running fine but now everytime I start my computer there are about 20 windows that open up. Almost seems like it is a brand new computer. Some of them are windows programs that are starting i.e. fax/scan etc that have never opened before as well as about 15 windows that open folders that say: windows-startmenu-programs-startup-then a myriad of various HP, lightscribe, games etc. It appears it is opening every file. How do I keep them from opening like before.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWindows Media Centre keeps opening up all the time, every few minutes or so. But it's always if I'm doing something. Just closed a program? Windows Media Centre opens. Just saved something? Windows Media Centre opens. Minimizing Firefox to get ready to open something else? You guessed it.But if the computer is idle it won't happen. There is also nothing else apparently wrong with the computer.I never use Windows Media Centre so I wouldn't even mind getting rid of it but I don't know if Windows Media Player relies on it which I do use for certain video formats from time to time. So unless someone says otherwise, I'd rather just disable it as opposed to removing it.
