Opening DOS Applications Full-screen Under Windows 7
Jul 7, 2009
At the risk of being tagged a Luddite, as a writer I still prefer to use DOS-based Xywrite for raw word- processing. XP permitted me to open this full screen with an "Alt/Enter" combination, but Vista permits only a relatively small window. I've tried installing XP to a partition, to no avail, so remain somewhat frustrated. Bottom line: will the "virtual XP" element of Windows 7 permit me to open DOS-based programs full-screen?
Upon opening the first browser window it opens to full-screen. Subsequent new browser windows open in the lower-right corner at 25% screen size.Q: is there a way to have every subsequent (i.e., after the first one) browser window open at full-screen size?
have a problem with IE not opening in full screen.I have been up on other site and tried every suggestion I have found but still about half my pages open full page and half don't.I can't believe MS hasn't put out a fix to this problem - any suggestions?
I've had this issue for a few days now. Any game I play or any movie I watch, if its on full screen, it will lose focus or minimize to desktop within 1-2 minutes. There are no error messages, and I can't find a single thing to help me. Yesterday, I downloaded a registry cleaner, and after it cleaned the errors, I could use full screen apps very well. Then I shut my computer down for the night, and when I woke up today, and started the computer, the problem started as well. [code]
ever since I installed Windows 7 , links from other programs in ie8 only partially open. I just get the address bar and the toolbar. I have to press the maximize button to fully open the window. I have tried all the options under the tab settings in internet options, but no change.
My computer has a problem with crashing while playing a video in full screen. When it crashes the screen turns black while the speakers give out a buzzing noise. Everything is unresposive the only solution is to turn it off with the power button. It happens in any full screen video online or offline and even visualizations from windows media player and iTunes, but only in full screen. I don't think it's overheating either because sometimes it takes 30 mins to crash and other times it will crash immediately when put in full screen. *I've tried setting it back to factory settings thus reinstalling windows. *All the directx features are working with no reported problem there.* I don't think it's a memory issue in the computer, as my specs are:
Windows 7 64-bit Processor: intel core i5 3.20 GHz Ram: 8 GB Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce GT 220 Graphics card memory: 0.5 GB Any other ideas?
So today I put a new motherboard/CPU/PSU/ and 2 sticks of DDR3 RAM 8 gigs (Corsair Vengeance) into my tower.
After I booted it up and downloaded the drivers for my mobo, I tried to run the Windows System Rating program.
Almost immediately after clicking the run button my fan on my GPU kicks into high gear and my screen goes black and my monitor loses signal to my PC and shuts off. I have to force shutdown my PC.
I booted my PC back up and tried to run a game and lo' and behold the same thing occurs. So I do a clean install of my OS because I figured I was having some issues with conflicting drivers from my old mobo because in my eagerness I neglected to uninstall them prior to swapping the new motherboard in.
After the clean install I again went and downloaded the drivers for my motherboard, GPU and updated my DirectX. I figured that this would of fixed it but NO.
I'm still having the same problem.
So I went and downloaded a program that would scan my system for outdated drivers and ran it. It came up with 2 outdated drivers: One for my sound card and one for my PCI express. SO I'm currently downloading those to see if by some chance that this fixes it. But I doubt it
The new board I put in is a Biostar TA75m+ and my CPU is last year's Llano A8 3850
i'm having some trouble with my screen resolution . i set it at (800x600) cause i'm using a 51 inch big screen hd tv. it go's full screen but then for no reason it puts the bars back on the sides of the screen. i checked and it still reads (800x600) and i can't get it to change back to full screen until i reboot. works fine in vista . i'm not seeing anything about drivers failing so i'm not sure what's happening.
Primary: Samsung Syncmaster 19 Inch widesreen 1400 * 900 Secondary: LG E2541 25 Inch Widescreen 1980 * 1080 OS: Windows 7 64bit VideoCard: Nvidia Geforce 560 Ti
I use my primary mostly for browsing, msn, music players, Ventrilo etc etc,I want to use my secondary Monitor for gaming Watching Videos. However, when i want to use something Full screen on my secondary monitor it goes full screen on the primary monitor. I cant also run it in windowed mode and stretch it out to full screen, it does not allow me to do that, it goes back to the size of my primary Monitor.
Ps.I want this since i play mostly with fullscreen borderless or in windowed mode so i can still browse the internet or adjust music/ventrillo settings. I dont want to have an Taskbar below the game, so thats why i need it on the Second Monitor.
no matter what i'm viewing, be it a video on Internet/dailymotion/vimeo/wherever or anything on vlc, the second i go full screen i notice horizontal screen tearing across the entire screen. i managed to lessen it to an extent on vlc by switching to directx output, but it still pops up on Internet videos etc.have also just started to notice it on non full screen videos.if it makes a difference it's around 2/3 of the way up the screen on online vids and 90% of the way up on vlc.i know this problem is going to be hard to pinpoint since it could be any number of things, but i have the feeling this is all because i have a setting too high/low somewhere.
I'm using Windows 7 and I got problem on my desktop. Screen Saver is the only thing that is functioning while all other programs are not available even the start menu. Could this be due to a virus or just a little mistake on its setting? I tried to check problem on desktop properties but when I clicked it, nothing happens. No properties window appear. It seems like applications are no longer accessible.
Starting a few hours ago out of nowhere my computer screen will only enlarge to about 90 percent regardless of the browser (Firefox and Internet Explorer) and even software programs such as music editing or anti virus.I have a Toshiba Dual Core Windows 7 with Norton 360/C Cleaner/Spybot that are run daily.
I would like to lockin (whatever) it takes to have all windows full screen when they are opened. Please make it simple as I don't know much about computers. I also have this problem with my PC using Vista.
How do you switch to full screen in Windows Virtual PC like when your using XP mode but for other virtual machines like Windows 98 and 2000 Pro? For some reason it works for Windows 95, but it doesn't for 98 and 2000, does anyone know how to do this?
If I click on the maximize window, I will get the full screen that I want but the half screen will reappear in later use (during the same online session).
alright so just recently my screen has been dimming when i stream videos(south park studios, Internet). i have my laptop screen set to dim after three minutes of being inactive, but i thought watching videos was an active process. after five minutes my laptop screen turns off, which is how i have it set for inactive use.
i'm using an hp dv7t laptop with windows 7 ultimate 64-bit installed.
maybe this isn't a problem with windows, but a problem with the browser i am using? i'm using the latest version of firefox.
