I went too this location on my computer and this program is installed but lately on startup it asks me do i want too click on yes or no too allow this program too make changes to my computer..why is it doing this now when it didnt before and what do i do? Ive clicked on both yes and no lately and it still is appearing on my startup.
I've set my sons log in on his PC to a 'standard ' user as he was going into the registry disabling cyberpatrol and so on. Now I'm getting it in the neck because he can't download programs games etc...how can I set up his standard user to download programs or at least to prompt so I can put a password in? I don't mind him downloading games, just don't want Cyberpatrol disabled. At present it just says something to the effect 'you require administrative rights to perform this task' but no option to log in as an administrator on his account.
View 9 Replies View RelatedAs an administrator, I have User Account Control set to "always notify" in Windows 7, but one of my kids (standard user) can still install Google Chrome. Shouldn't this require the administrator password? Also, UAC does not seem to limit a standard user's ability to Uninstall Programs. Is there a way to restrict that?
View 9 Replies View Relatedhow I can run a program, Core Temp.exe, on Windows 7 without having to manually enter the admin password and manually run it after logged in.I tried 3 ways:
1) Run as Admin Went to both the shortcut and the program location -> properties -> "Run as Admin" ---> didn't work Also checked "Run in Compatibility mode for windows 7" ---> didn't work
2) Task Scheduler Use Task Scheduler to run the program at startup---> didn't work run whenever any user logs in---> didn't work run whenever I log in ---> didn't work All of the above triggers at once ---> didn't work
3) Registry Editor Local Machine -> Software -> Microsoft -> Windows -> Current Version -> Run Made a string to run the program ---> didn't work All I want is this program to run whether I'm logged into any account. Specifically, my Limited Account so that I can monitor my CPU temperature and usage. It works after I run the program manually, this pops up "do you want the following program from an unknown publisher....", and enter in my admin password, but this is tiring.
The other day I had to access User Account Controls because I was having some problems with Itunes and when I tried to open the Configure User Account Controls panel, a blank window opened for about 10-20 seconds and then it closed on its own. This kept happening even after I had restarted the computer. Also, this is the only thing with which this happens. Everything else opens perfectly.
I've been looking around for a while now, in other forums and costumer support, and I couldn't find anyone with the same problem or any thread addresing it.
I have a Windows 7 Professional, 32bit and I was using the Administrator account when this happened (it is the only account in the computer).
On the user account control panel it is asking for password for administrator but no box appears for it to be typed in and cannot remember password.
View 1 Replies View Relatedhave had this problem for a while now and any help would be greatly appreciated. Essentially I cannot install anything, as it requires User Account Control verification, but the password field for the admin pass does not show up, so the only option each time is to click 'No' and cancel the installation. I assume this is because there is no admin password set. I tried for a long while previously, I have tried to enter using safe mode and try and disable UAC, yet when doing so the UAC actually pops up in sade mode without the pass field again. I have also tried using Offline NT Registor and Password Editor to create a new pass for the admin, yet no luck as the admin afterwards doesn't require a pass nor does the pass field in the UAC show.

View 3 Replies View RelatedThis Adobe Flash Player User Account Control popup has become extremely annoying, and I cannot seem to overcome it.
I allowed the computer initially to install Adobe Flash Player. It now regularly displays the User Account Control window popup asking: "Allow changes to yout computer? Adobe Flash Player Installer".
I have 'allowed it', and it still goes on. I have 'denied it' and it still goes on. I have uninstalled Flash Player and the same things happen.
Is this Bloody thing a CURSE, or is the remedy at my finger tips? I cannot open the snip tool to capture the User Account Control popup as snip will not open when popup is dispalyed.

View 15 Replies View RelatedI am using Windows 7 Pro 64x and apparently the default user account (Owner) that I use is not working correctly. Unless I have UAC set to Never Notify, I cannot open Control Panel or UAC again. I have created a second user account as Administrator and it works correctly.
I would like to know if there is any way to fix this problem short of a clean install of Windows. If not, is it possible to move all of my settings to the user account that works correctly and delete the one that does not.
I would appreciate any help identifying the cause of extremely slow log on times for a user account on our family laptop. The machine is running Windows 7 - 64-bit version, and currently has 3 users accounts 2 admin and 1 regular. The regular account has begun to experience log on times that last for minutes (The Welcome splash screen prior to log on screen), while the admin accounts have no problems. I have seen other posts regarding slow log on times, but I haven't seen those which address the issue for a specific user account.
View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen I go to Control PanelAll Control Panel ItemsNotification Area Icons dialog then there are a lot of programs which are already uninstalled.
How can I cleanup/delete all these useless entries? How can I delete ONE single entry manually?
Second question: Assume I want to hide icons and notification for mutiple/all entries (here approx 40 items) in ONE STEP.
Third question: How can I save/backup the current notification settings (for later restore) into a file? Are these notifcation settings stored in a certain branch of the Registry (which exactly) ?
I have always been running admin and even until now I run as admin. But, I have been doing a little bit of research and realize that using a standard account is a safer practice. I have never even used a standard account. Is using a standard account a better practice? Also, how does doing average task such as installing programs and updating work through the standard user account?

When using Nvidia's Control Panel, there are two choices: Use other applications control color settings or Use Nvidia settings. Am I correct in assuming that the former setting is Windows? I always check the button to use Nvidia settings (and then Apply>OK), but when I go back to this screen at a later time, the Other applications control color settings is always selected. I'd like to default to Nvidia.

If I create a user account with the same name will it map to the existing folder within Users?I did a test of this. I created a folder called Test within Users then created a User account called Test and logged in. It created another folder within Users called Test.Computername.

View 9 Replies View Related1) Asus Laptop Model UL50VT with Windows 7 Home Premium. 2) Hard Drive crashes dies, send it in and get it replaced. 3) Several months after getting the Hard Drive replaced (Yesterday) I noticed that my D drive had 350GB of memory as compared to about 150GB in my C Drive. This was a problem considering my C drive was nearly full.4) I decide to just put new files to the D Drive and that I will copy files over to the D drive to use it as my primary driver. I use Yahoo!Answers as my reliable source of information on all things registry. After following the instructions that I can no longer find, I edited several files in the registry, believing myself to have changed the primary drive from C to D.
5) ^^ The above instructions given were most likely from an epic troll. Everytime I open any System 32 file I get an error that Windows cannot C:/Windows/System32/Application I tried to open/etc... This includes, sadly, my regedit application.6) I copied my System32 folder over to my D drive and attempted to open the application from over there, but it has not worked.7) Many files on my computer are unable to be found by windows, System32 is not the only case. It appears to be somewhat random8) I tried as a cop-out way to fix this to create a new User Account, and that also failed... It simply will not open the Control Panel section for creating a new account.9) Lastly... and perhaps this was my stupidest mistake of all... I never created a recovery disk.
Just upgraded to Windows 7 from Vista (courtesy of Acer).
During the upgrade, my email accounts settings were automatically transferred and seem to work OK but the name of one of my accounts has lost the first letter. I have tried to find my way into the settings to do a manual check but I need to be pointed in the right direction.
Any volunteers?
This is also my first experience with the security scheme of Windows 7. I'm used to having total ownership in XP, so I started messing with the permissions and ownerships in my account all willy-nilly until - predictably - it's causing all kinds of weird behavior.I don't want to reinstall, instead I'd like to migrate to migrate to Windows 7's hidden super-administrator account and start using that as my default account. (This computer never hooks up to a network, so I'm not worried about using the super admin account on a daily basis.)What would be the best way to migrate my account's settings (programs, customizations, etc.) to the admin account, without also transferring the permissions and ownerships?
