View 4 RepliesIs it possible to make a link on the desktop, or elsewhere, and when opened, to open it with a specific program rather then the default? Specifically, I use FF as my default browser, but I would like to use IE for a couple specific links. I know I can just open IE but it would be convenient to create an icon/link on the desktop to the location, and when opened, to be opened by IE rather then the default program for that extension (FF).I just realized that I could make another extension, a new one not used by any program, and just make that extension opened by IE by default then rename the link on the desktop, I think that would work, but is there a way to edit the link and tell it specifically what program to use when clicked rather then the default?
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy issue is that i would like to be able to have media center audio play only through my tv and not through my pc main speaker system, tv is hooked through hdmi output on graphics card, speaker system through 5.1 output on motherboard. I have tried the audiorenderupdater extender but all that does is set default audio out for entire system, so when itunes is used or game is played on computer audio goes through tv. I would like all system noises, media player, and game audio to run through pc speakers and simultaneously all media center audio (recorded/live tv) to go through tv audio, so i can watch sports center while playing mass effect and have audio from sportscenter on tv audio from mass effect on pc speakers.
Also is there a way to separate media player's actions from media center's. For example if you are laying music in media player and then open media center and play a tv show, music playback stops, not a big deal just like media player better than itunes and would like to be able to watch tv in media center while playing music in media player rather than itunes

However, Outlook opens up and my attachment is placed in Outlook. Eudora is my default email program so why isn't Eudora receiving the attachment. When I close Outlook and try again I get message "Microsoft Office Outlook. A dialog box is open. Close it and try again." I went to tools, options, advanced options, Com Add-ins, and unchecked the add-ons but this does not help.I am unable to uninstall just Outlook (Excel and Word also uninstall with it). When I click control panel, uninstall, Microsoft Office the "change" option does not appear. Only Uninstall (as in uninstall the entire Office program) appears. So uninstalling Outlook is not an option. On my old Windows XP computer , I had the same software installed (Eudora and Ooutlook)and attaching files to Eudora worked perfectly.

View 2 Replies View RelatedIs there an easy way to make Notepad my default editor? Some how Wordpad is default. I read where I could go into the registry and change it there but I am not comfortable with tapering with the registry. With XP, I could change it very easily. As a side note, presently in Windows 7, when I save text in Wordpad, I normally chose a simple, plain text 'save as' only but it saves my work in the fanciest rich text format with full headers? Have saved tries in the other Wordpad choices but I always get the fanciest text format. I bring up simple Notepad and save my work. However, when I call it up again, it is in the fancy rich text Wordpad format? I would just as soon save my simple notes in Notepad.
View 8 Replies View RelatedHow can i make IE9 save web pages in a default format So, anyways, is there a registry hack anyone has made for IE 9 that can force IE 9 to stop choosing mht as the default format? I am sick, have been for years, of switching it to htm. It's also noteable that more webpages on IE are able to saved in mht form, rather than htm (and firefox can save any ANY page in either format). It's as if Bill Gates had a mht fetish and decided we should all go by his ways.I'm using 64 bit windows.

View 5 Replies View RelatedOn my last computer I had found a way of putting website shortcuts right onto my desktop. It was really convenient because I could keep all my casual "play" bookmarks in the browser itself, and important sites for things like banking and online bills were accessed from a special corner of my desktop. I've since built a new computer and I don't remember how I did it before. My primary browser is Chrome and I can't find a way to save bookmarks to the desktop. What I've been forced to do is right click on the desktop, go in "New" and then select "Shortcut", and then just put the website's URL. It works but the icon pictures are all wrong. On my last comp each website had a proper icon (Bank of Montreal had the BMO logo, Videotron had the Videotron logo, etc).
