View 1 RepliesI left my computer running overnight as I usually do. When I went back to it this morning, it was stuck in power saving mode. When I rebooted, everything looked fine and the windows logo loaded but when I reached the login screen it went directly to Power Saving mode and got stuck there.
I am posting this from Safe Mode with Networking.
What could be causing the following situation- When restarting my computer (Windows 7 64bit) after the "starting windows" screen appears the screen will go dark and display "power saving mode". After about 60 seconds the computer will restart from the "starting windows" screen and complete the restart process. Once it completes everything the computer runs fine.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a HP PC and I'm trying to use HP recovery plus to install Windows 7. It consists of 3 discs and the thing is, that I insert the first one in the optical drive, restart computer, press F11 to enter the recovery menu or whatever. Then it loads Windows files, then the HP recovery itself starts. The problem is, that when I enter the recovery menu, the computer will go to power saving mode after a while, no matter what. I tried pressing some random keys to get it back up, but it just doesn't work.
View 4 Replies View RelatedThe monitor seems to go into power saving mode when entering/exiting a game such as a game in steam. (But it doesn't happen every time) the only way to get it out is hard restart. Yes I've tried other monitors, as well as display drivers, and there also seems to be nothing wrong in the Bios.

I recently called Dell Support and they used Dell Connect to try to fix it. Yesterday, I got home and my screen was blank. So I turned the computer on and logged in. Within seconds it did the Power Saving Mode thing. Then I let it go until today. Now I can get on the internet but when I run games that I play, it still does it.

I manually put it to sleep and it ethier wakes right back up or it waits 5 minutes and comes right back on. I dont have any programs running that should affect it sleeping. I went into the bios and made sure all the wake-up-on settings were off. I tried different power options and settings, and nothing is working. I never had an issue before, the change being that I have a new motherboard and reinstalled windows 7 on a SSD

I recently set up an Acer aspire running Win7 Pro. Went fine. Left machine on overnight and in morning, video was dark and nothing I tired restored it, including reboot. It is as if it got "stuck" in a power saving mode and wont come out of itMonitor works fine with other machine
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm getting Eco conscious in my old age. My laptop is usually on all day and I think it would be a better idea if I could use sleep mode or something to save power. Problem is I need to know if emails are arriving. Is it possible to set the computer up in such a way that it wakes up when an email arrives, or would sleep mode stop emails arriving in the first place? Using Live Mail by the way.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a new problem. My monitor has begun to blink repeatedly after coming out of power saving mode (when the screen turns off automatically due to inactivity).
I have no problems with this in that past. This problem just started out of the blue a few days ago. Initially, it would just blink once or twice coming out of power saving mode, now it might blink 10 or more times before the monitor stays on. Once the monitor is on, it functions fine. The blinking only occurs after coming out of power saving mode.
I have 4 computers in my office.Out of 4,3 of them has a problem for the past 2 months. They all run windows 7.
They keep working for about 30 mins to 1 hour after which they suddenly goes into power saving mode. The monitor goes dark but the CPU light and the fan still work. Then after 10-20 seconds it automatically restarts.
When logging in after the restart,It shows "The system has recovered from a serious error".This happens every 30 mins and for these 3 systems.(I bought it from the same shop last year),But the other one works perfect for about 4 years.
I have tried cleaning the fan, sink and even reinstalled a fresh copy of windows 7.Still the problem persists.
While my pc is on, I plug in the usb cable of my canon pixma MP276 printer. When the usb cable contact to the usb port, the lcd monitor goes into power saving mode/sleep mode (black) immediately and never turns on again no matter what I do (clicking on mouse, pressing keys on keyboard)I then need to restart the pc and everything will be normal.

How do I unstick my computer? It is a Gateway DX4350 Win 7, integrated graphics. Monitor only shows "In Power Save Mode" after pushing a button on the monitor, even after I turn computer off (unplug). There is no POST screen, although I'm sure the computer is turning on and booting, after I installed a PCI video card. Monitor shows nothing from the computer, but does indicate a connection by telling me it's in Power Save mode.

If all I want to do is improve battery life when on the road, would it be batter to just use Windows 7's built-in Power Saver Mode, or Does Granola actually do a better job at extending battery life via its CPU scaling?

View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I'm using the computer...at very random times, the screen goes black, then a blue window pops up telling me it has gone into power safe mode. I'm assuming, when this happens the computer freezes because, when I hit the hot key I set up on my keyboard to shut down, nothing happens...So, the only option I have is unplugging or holding the power button until the machine shuts off. Then, I restart. When I try my hotkey for shut down during normal usage, it works just fine, but not when the monitor decides to take a coffee break and leave me hanging. If I was doing something lame, like work, it wouldn't be so bad, but right in the middle of online gaming??? COME ON!To sneak another question in...which might, very well, be linked to the issue above, the computer freezes at random times as well. Especially, at startup. I have to hold the power button 3 or 4 times...with beep beep beeps...until it finally decides to show for work and do what its job description states.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have not been able to play SWTOR MMO. During gameplay my PC will shutdown then restart to the safe mode menu. It happens randomly 2 to 8 minutes into gameplay. Currently this happens with this game only. I do not know much about computers but I noticed the event viewer says kernel-power event 41. The PC is brand new month old. I a little frustated because I do not know what to do?
View 9 Replies View RelatedAnyways, in laptops (gaming or not), does setting the power plan to High Performance actually improve gaming (frame rates, speed and anything else) in battery mode? I'm using a laptop (not dedicated gaming, but suffices) and my games (the recent ones) slow down whenever I'm in battery mode. A couple of friends told me I should set it High Performance, which I doubted since they don't seem to be the type to change the power plan settings and more so with the advanced plan settings.

View 1 Replies View RelatedReplaced my VGA cable with and HDMI cable because screen wouldn't leave power save mode due to lack of communication between tower and screen. HDMI solves that. Now I have no internet connection. No signs of life. Cable guy comes over plugs his laptop into the..box thing where the internet comes from... says the internet is working fine must be your computer and he leaves. So now that my screen is working I can trouble shoot - can't find a network adapter. I have no idea what that means, and it is not listed anywhere on my control panel list of drivers and things. Tried to reinstall whatever that is.. which is hard when your just guessing and clicking things. Bottom line is after using the drivers and devices disc and reinstalling everything that said "network" in the title there is still no signs of life. I don't have wireless so the whole adapter thing isn't making sense either.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've done a lot of searches using variations of the above title and came up empty or just plain missed the answer.I'd like to know, if it is not asking too much, the following points:
1. What exactly is the function of Link State Power Management in the Power Options Advanced Settings, PCI Express?
2. What are the implications of using the options available:
a) Off.
b) Maximum power savings.
c) Moderate power savings.
d) Which option is the best selection for my Dell laptop.
I use my PC for audio production and I have a few external controller devices that are USB powered, for example a midi keyboard. I recently had to build PC due to a theft....long story short after building the new PC I've noticed that my USB buses have continual power to these external devices after I've powered down the PC. My old windows 7 PC did not do this. Is there a setting I can change to shut off power to the USB buses when I power off the PC? Or is this a hardware issue?

View 1 Replies View RelatedOver the past 2 years my PC has been afflicted with random power off/power on/reboot events. It will go for months without these and then have multiples of the events in a day. (I had 8 of them 3 days ago.)I assume I have a hardware problem, but nothing has been found and I'm grasping at straws. The time between power off and power on is several seconds.I had assumed this rules out a software cause, but maybe I'm wrong. I know Windows can schedule a power off, but can it tell BIOS (or something) to power back on in a few seconds?I know blaming the power supply is a much more simple explanation, but then I'm left with explaining the intermittent nature of the failure.

View 3 Replies View RelatedMy computer wouldn't shut down, even with holding in the power button, and so I just let it run out the battery. Then it wont turn on. I tried holding down the power button to clear out any charge that might be remaining. I have managed to get it back on, but I have to make a connection at the clip where you plug the power button ribbon into the mobo. Also, this is the second time I have had to do this. The computer works fine afterwards...or seems to anyway.
