Can't Apply Custom Visual Styles
May 28, 2012I'm running a 64-bit system, and I can't get explorerframe.dll to update properly. I've disabled UAC, patched the system files, taken ownership of the files in System32 and in SysWOW64, and replaced the files with the ones I want after adding a .old extension to the ones that I want to replace, but nothing changes. The only changes that I see are from the theme files that I used. This has happened consistently with the five or six themes that I've tried.

Apr 6, 2012I want to create a custom shortcut and by custom I don't mean the way you usually create shortcuts at, but how you create it from scratch. Like open notepad and write down a script to make it work like an ordinary shortcut.The reason I want to do this is because I have a large collection of music and for the moment I have to open, first my music directory then choose the artist directory then the album directory and finally the playlist file. The way I want it is instead of getting into the album directory I would just have a shortcut in the artist directory that will open the playlist and start the music. And I would even want to have a custom icon on the shortcut.Now you will probably say just create a shortcut like you would normally do and then change the icon. DONE!No the thing is that when I re-install my computer or if I get a new disc with new drive letters or just move my whole music directory the shortcuts will be corrupted cause windows own created shortcuts has the complete file path like "D:DokumentEgna SkivorDeadmau5For Lack Of A Better Name�0 For Lack Of A Better Name (Playlist).m3u". The way I want it is just "For Lack Of A Better Name�0 For Lack Of A Better Name (Playlist).m3u"

May 21, 2009On my system I am using the following: Windows XP Professional SP3, Visual Basic 6 Enterprise Edition, and Crystal Reports XI Developers Edition. I also have quite a bit of other software.In previous reports I remember reading that VB6 will work with Windows 7 if "AERO" is NOT turned on. By the way, I never went to Vista and I DO NOT know the purpose or use of "AERO".Now that Windows 7 has "Windows XP Mode", is that statement still true? I do some development and maintenance of PC applications in VB6 and do not want to give it up.I would like to go with Windows 7. I have heard nothing but good reports. If VB6 or other related products are going to give me a problem, I just can't do it.

Jan 4, 2010I updated to Windows 7 a few days ago and since then, the screen has been doing weird things. It gets distorted for no apparent reason and sometimes fixes itself. I've attached 2 examples. It usually affects the title bar but also affects the entire screen sometimes. If I minimize the window, it usually improves it but nothing makes it go away completely.

How To Turn Off Visual And Sound Notifications
Jun 8, 2011One USB device on my desktop computer running Win 7 professional does not work. Maintenance service told me that they cannot repair dysfunctional USB because it is build into the case (chassis). But one dysfunctional USB is not a problem at all, because I have 7 other USB slots operating normally. Anyway, now I am getting non-stop notifications of this non-problem!!! Why? The frequency is sometimes very high and always extremely annoying: it varies greatly, it can be between 5-10 per minute. Aural notifications have this annoying sound and visual notifications are popping up in a sizable cloud in bottom right corner of a screen and are lingering there for far too long, and when I click to close it, it pops back immediately. This is a spoiler (I could tolerate one or two dysfunctional notification a day). It is bothering me visually and aurally, greatly diminishing my user experience, disturbing my work, my listening to the music and watching the pictures or movies. After much tinkering I succeeded to turn off sound notification (via Sounds customization), but I cannot turn off visual notifications. I cannot customize Notification area icons - when I try to "Hide icons and notifications" in category Windows explorer where there is this unwanted visual message USB DEVICE NOT RECOGNIZED and click OK, it does not work, because it pops up again immediately - next time I check Notification area icons customization this category is back to "Only show notifications" although I changed it to "Hide".
