Create A Custom/unattendable Setup For Windows 7 Professional?
Jan 8, 2011
I need to create a custom/unattendable setup for Windows 7 Professional for my new laptop that I will be purchasing soon I will also need to install certain Windows Componants along with other customisations. My current laptop is running Windows XP Pro SP3 and i'm looking for a piece of software that will enable me to complete the setup tweak.I have donwloadedand installed vLiteon my XP machine but it has asked me to download the WIN AIK(Automated Installtion Kit) from the Microsoft Website. This is only combatable for Windows Vista andServer 2008 and is 1.3GB in size.
I want to create a utility software where i can create my own custom commands like copy, rename, move, delete etc. But i don't have any idea how shouldWhich language i should use to create it?OS Platform : Windows 7
I would like to create a custom signature in the new Windows live mail. In the new layout there is not a "Tool" menu to bring up "options" from where you create a signature. However there is an "Insert" button which as well as being able to attach files etc shows a signature icon which is Greyed out. I have tried logging into email as administrator but it is still greyed out.
I just purchased 3 new dell desk tops w/windows 7 one has professional. I want to set them up in a closed Local area network using the 7 pro as server. FYI , I am replacing my old dell desk tops with XP that have served with no problems for 8 years.I have transferred the software with no problems but can not get the server and file sharing going
I have Windows 7 Professional installed on my 13" Macbook pro, I went to attach a VHD, but the option was greyed out, it won't let me create one either?

How can I create a custom software DVD/USB with my logo on it?I have possibly 2GB+ worth of software to put on to a DVD/USB so I can quickly install all those programs.I know there's a program that does this, I just can't remember what it's called.
I want to create a custom shortcut and by custom I don't mean the way you usually create shortcuts at, but how you create it from scratch. Like open notepad and write down a script to make it work like an ordinary shortcut. The reason I want to do this is because I have a large collection of music and for the moment I have to open, first my music directory then choose the artist directory then the album directory and finally the playlist file. The way I want it is instead of getting into the album directory I would just have a shortcut in the artist directory that will open the playlist and start the music. And I would even want to have a custom icon on the shortcut. Now you will probably say just create a shortcut like you would normally do and then change the icon. DONE!No the thing is that when I re-install my computer or if I get a new disc with new drive letters or just move my whole music directory the shortcuts will be corrupted cause windows own created shortcuts has the complete file path like "D:DokumentEgna SkivorDeadmau5For Lack Of A Better Name0 For Lack Of A Better Name (Playlist).m3u". The way I want it is just "For Lack Of A Better Name0 For Lack Of A Better Name (Playlist).m3u"
I guess that almost says it all, except when I attempted to clarify this in an edit, I suspect what I am trying to do is a document merge with fields I would need to create on the document that has the labels, one file has all the data and the other has a layout of six labels.I have a custom label sheet (8.5" x 11" paper, 2 rows, 3 columns with margins) that I wish to use in a merge for name tags. The sheet is NOT printed, so I am not feeding it through a printer for the merge, I wish to do the merge on the computer and send the completed label merge file to a printer at a later date. Part of the reason for this is that I do not have a color printer here and the label picture itself uses color.Where it gets a little more complicated is that though each of the six labels per page is the same, it is a picture (when I double click any one of them the "Picture" ribbon comes up).
currently using home premium 32bit but got pro upgrade 64 bit so had to do the custom install from booting with the disk I choose the language, keyboard layout etc, choose custom install, pick the hard drive and it goes to the installing screen.
When part 2 of the install screen is almost done it said installation will continue after the computer restarts. After it restarts, it just stays on the "starting windows" screen and the windows logo never shows. It wa son there for hours. I restarted by pressing the restart button and it continued back on the step 2 and them same thing, restart and then continue later but now the screen is just stuck on the "starting windows" screen.
I am unable to install windows 7 as , when I start the install and click on install it shows that setup was unable to create a new partition or locate an existing system partition.I have 2 hard disks , one of size 75 gb & other of 320 Gb..Previously , OS was installed on 320 gb , but i have formatted that drive before installing windows 7...
now my 75 gb hard disk is empty & one drive of 320 gb is also empty..It shows that 320 gb hdd ia on disk 0 & 75 gb on disk 1.I want to install Os in any of the above mentioned HDD.It shows that-> 1. all drives of 320 gb HDD as Logical & 75 gb HDD drives as Primary..
I tried to dual boot Fedora 18 with my Windows 7. They are on two different hard drives. Fedora 18 worked but I was unable to boot up Windows 7. Frustrated, I decided to just delete everything from all the hard drives and try to do a clean install of Windows 7 using the USB-DVD Windows tool to make a USB Windows 7 installer. I then got the following error when trying to install Windows onto my hard drive:
"Setup was unable to create a new system partition or locate an existing system partition. See the Setup log files for more information"
I tried unplugging the other hard drives and got the same error. I also went to the command prompt and used Diskpart and did clean all. Still the error shows up. Something that might be useful is that when I did disk list in the command prompt it showed my hard drive but with 0 free space. Not sure if this is useful but the drive I want Windows 7 on is a solid state drive but the one I had Fedora on is a normal hard drive and I had an extra harddrive that I used for storage that is a normal hard drive as well.
I'm getting this error when trying to install windows 7 rc x64:
"Setup couldn't create new system partition"
Then it asks me to check the setup log, but I don't know how.
Trying to install onto the 2nd partition of a 160 gb drive, split in half. It's disk 0, the first partition is active primary and has XP. The second partition is formatted ntfs primary and when I select it in windows setup, that's when I get the error message. I let windows 7 delete it and create a new partition and formatted it, but when I select it to install windows onto, it give me the above message.
It's a SATA drive running in native IDE mode on an AMD790GX board with a Phenom II X4 940 and 4 GB RAM.
It doesn't seem like it would be a drivers issues, since Windows sees the drive and both partitions, allows me to delete, create and format partitions, just won't let me install onto it. Any ideas?
I built a new pc and i want to put windows 7 pro on it. When i try to install i got the message "setup unable to create a new system partition or locate an existing one". How do I fix this?
This is a fresh Windows 7 install on a 500GB HDD (previously used under XP) In the BIOS the Storage is configured as: Raid. Obviously I have the right raid ICH10R drivers from Asus (they are on a USB drive) Installation starts, Windows sees the disk, I specify the drivers, BUT when I click Next, I get: Setup was unable to create a new system partition. I can delete the partition, create a new one, format it, BUT when I click Next, I get: Setup was unable to create a new system partition. I used Gparted to delete the partition, and tried again - I used Seagate tools to zero the disk (sort of low level format) - If I try to install on a brand new 1TB HDD following the same steps, it installs fine... Both drives are Sata II and I used the same Sata port (only one disk at a time)
while installing windows 7 from the installation DVD, everything works fine till the screen where it asks me to select the partition on which i would like to install Windows. When I select Partition 4 and click Next it gives me an error saying "Setup was unable to create a new system partition or locate an existing system partition. See the setup log files for more information". I have only one HDD and no external USB's or drives attached to my CPU.
Yesterday i want to install windows 7 on my laptop but when i format Local disk C and click next it says setup was unable to create a new system partition.I boot through Pen Drive. I dont have a dvd rw(not working) and i have Data on other drives...without wiping data and with wiping data.
So i'm trying to do a clean install on windows 7, i've tried to format and then do the install but it still says setup was unable to create a new system partition
After 8 long years I've finally upgraded my wheezy old pc, and now am drooling to play with this beastly new machine I've just assembled. My system specs should be in my sig below. But after 12 long hours of trying to install windows 7 pro, I'm more kinds of frustrated than there are words for.As in the topic title, I'm up against the "setup cannot find or create a system partition" error. My machine has a single 2 TB Hitachi Sata 3 hard drive, so there is no raid to muck things up, which seems to have been the primary cause of everyone elses troubles with this error. Using my old rig, I partitioned the new drive and transferred all the data from the old drives, leaving the first 75 GB partition empty and waiting for windows 7.
Then "the troubles" began. Research ensued.First thing I tried was to load updated sata 3 drivers from the mobo install disk. No help. Then I tried downloading the latest drivers from Asus and loading them from a flash drive during installation. No dice. Then I tried changing bios settings from Sata to IDE. No dice.Tried all of the above again with minor tweaks. Using the setup tools, I deleted that first partition and tried to make it again but setup gives me the title error.Well, of course I need that partition back so after some more research, I downloaded gparted, booted it up, but the video output is messed up and impossible to read. Then I slept for 6 hours. I woke up, tenacious and desperate, and figured I'd try diskpart (well above my paygrade) to make the first partition active and/or primary. Diskpart won't allow it? I disassembled my new system, plonked the old system back into the case, booted up into winxp off the old hard drive and with Easus partition manager and tried the same thing as with diskpart, but with the same results. No dice. Then, clearly somewhat crazy at this point, I put the new machine back in the case and tried ALL OF THE ABOVE AGAIN. No dice.Upon boot, POST sees the hard drive, but its not detected in bios. I don't know whether this is a hard drive problem, a mobo problem, a configuration problem, or completely normal for my gear. In any case, windows setup lists all the partitions.
I am having a problem with doing a fresh install of Windows 7. It is on a Dell Inspiron 1546 with a 150 GB hard drive. There was an original install but the computer was having issues as some files were corrupted. I used the Windows 7 disc to format the hard drive and booted from CD after restarting.
However when I try to install the new Windows 7 it sits at the part where it says: Expanding files. Then after a while an error pops up that says: Setup was unable to create a new system partition or locate an existing system partition. See the Setup log files for more information
I have my HP Laptop which came with Windows Vista as the OS. I want to upgrade to Windows 7 so I bought Windows 7 from my local store.I entered the disc and did boot from CD. It reached to the page where it shows the disk partition. I deleted the partitions and created new one. However, whenever I create the partition, it creates a primary one and gives me saying Setup was unable to create a new system partition or locate an existing system partition. The stupidity that I did was deleted the partition which had the Recovery Drive in it. So, now I am stuck and not able to install Vista as well as Windows 7. I am not able to boot Windows as there is no OS in my laptop now.
