if you right click on my documents to the right (properties) through the start menu, and change up the folder, it'll start grouping the documents inside that by location. Even if it's only one location. While the default my documents folder doesn't do that.
View 4 RepliesToshiba Satellite A665. My USB ports work fine from startup, and can even work after waking from sleep mode. However, I notice that if I move my laptop to another location, my USB gets disabled. Occasionally, my mouse and other devices may receive power, but other times they may not even receive power. Either way, they are never detected anymore. I have already tried unplugging and replugging the devices to no avail, and I have also reinstalled all of the drivers.

View 0 Replies View RelatedWe are a small office, 5 or 6 computers. Only 3 are every day computers, other 3 are "server", admin and extra computer. The three in use every day are new win7pro x64 machines. Our server is xp pro (32bit) with a shared drive as our "server" drive. We access this for all our job related materials, etc. There is no network setup, just shared folders among our workgroup. we just got the new win7pro machines setup and are using Windows Backup function to create system images to the "server" computer in a shared folder. We've got the images created on 2 computers, and can see the .vhd files and associated folder structure. When testing to see if we could restore from these images, we got the error "Cannot locate backup sets on machine, etc."I moved the backup folder to the root of the drive, and made sure it was WindowsImageBackup or whatever the default is, but still could not find it.

View 2 Replies View Relatedi went to shrink one of my disk partitions and was told i couldn't get more than 3gb more because there are some files in the partition that windows can't move. i've actually got about 30gb free on the partition, so this is irksome. does anyone know of an application that'll show me where files are located on the disk so i can see which files are preventing the partition from shrinkiing?

View 6 Replies View Relatedi am preparing my system for ssd migration, my hdd is getting very grindy and slow even simply browsing, eg. moving to different parts of a Internet video pauses for a second with hdd activity.
so i moved the ie temp folder to a ram disk i made (this also save some writes on my new ssd when i migrate) and i thought great job done as ie snappy. however i also see my cookies in that folder which will be gone when i reboot, not good. i have some permanent cookies which stop me needing to login to sites again and again.
so it seems i either need to keep ie temp files on permanent storage, or be willing to lose my cookies whenever i reboot. can the cookies be put in a seperate folder away from the temp cache files?
I think whats its more or less doing is every time wmp opens it goes trough my docs and music folders and it adds everything there, i don't want it to its all too messy for wmp to list properly..i've gone into tools and unchecked all the boxes but there dosn't seem to be an option to stop it adding local media.

I can copy smaller files without problems. I've tried this on two laptops: one with Windows 7 Home Edition and one with Windows 7 Enterprise edition.
By contrast, I can copy large files to said location from my work PC, which is based on Windows XP. But I'd need to be able to do that from home as well.
64bit application is getting installed in program files (*86). How to change the destination folder. Insta shield is not giving this option.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have attempted to place my page file to an external disk via USB > I:, on my Win 7 HP system as I had on my old Vista HP system, to assist in performance.fter setting no (zero size) pf on C: going through the motions on re-start I get a message indicating that windows has by default created a pf on C:, (I take it this is for memory dump purposes) & on checking the external disk no pf was created although in advanced settings dialogue box a �system managed� text is indicated against drive I:, the funny thing is on C: the page file size was exactly the same prior to change even though no page file is indicated for C: in the dialogue box.I tried again leaving a 200mb fixed sized pf for the memory dump on C: but got exactly the same response, system managed pf on I: where no pf exists on the drive.

It says that it can't locate a suitable driver, regardless I already downloaded the drivers LaserJet2100-Windows 7 (64bit) from the HP official website.
I did also try to 'add a printer' -> 'add a local printer' -> and then install a printer driver for HP Laserjet 2100 PCL 6. Seems to me that probably I already have this driver downloaded into my computer, but I just don't know where Windows 7 save this downloaded driver. If only I could locate the driver, I might be able to locate it manually and used for the network's printer.

I just installed a Sabrent usb 2.0 bluetooth adapter. I did this to send pictures from my cell to the PC. Windows 7 home premium. I got a few but when I marked 18 of them and sent they went but I can't find them anywhere. The ones I could find were sent individually and I could choose were they went, but the group sent gave me no option. Where on the PC I can find these pictures?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to change the "Music" location from "C:UsersUserMusic" to "D:UsersUserMusic". I am unable to edit the path on the "Music Properties-->Location" tab. I have tried everything. I cannot type or delete the path from the path field. I can edit any other special folder location (My Documents; My Videos, etc...). I went through the registry and changed any "C:UsersUserMusic" to "D:UsersUserMusic". In desperation, I also changed all "%USERPROFILE%Music" to "D:UsersUserMusic" (yeah, I know). Nothing changes the location in the location field of the Music Location tab. I rebooted after every change to the registry. I deleted the "Music" folder, rebooted and tried to edit the new "Music" folder with no joy. Any ideas of what might be going on? I'd hate to delete and then recreate the profile owing to the fact that I just spent half a day setting it up. This computer is on a domain and no other users are experiencing this problem.

The message continues - "continue with system resume" or the other option is to "delete restoration data and proceed to system boot menu" - this is highlighted but the enter key or arrow will not activate. I have the original Windows 7 ultimate disc but it will not boot it up, also cannot access safe mode with f8. I have an accounting package for my business on this computer and cannot lose it.

View 3 Replies View RelatedThis little thing has been annoying me since Win 7 came out and finally figured I'd ask if there is some hack to change it.On my task bar I have the following icons...Internet explorer | Windows Explorer | Windows Media Player | Google Chrome | Paintshop Pro x2When none of these programs are in the open state everything is fine, however when I open up Internet Explorer, it changes the normal small icon into the full blown Internet Explorer taskbar icon right in it's place, which means my task bar will often look like a bunch of long I.E. taskbar open icons, then the small icons for Windows explorer, mediaplayer, chrome and psp, followed by a bunch of other program icons that are open programs.This looks sloppy and non intuitive to me.What I would like to do is to keep all the small icons (like they were in quickbar) on the left, and any open programs to open as new full size icons on the right of all the small icons. So that I don't have a bunch of larger open program icons, followed by all the closed small icons, followed by any other open program icons.

I am trying to set it as the default program to open certain picture files because an essential program I run needs those specific file associations to be made or it will not work.
