Is there a way to clear the 'Last Run' date and % fragmented in Disk Defragmenter in Windows 7?I've cleared the event viewer application and system log files and also completely disabled and reenabled the defrag service. I'm not sure what else to try.I ran Analyze on my SSD (did not run defrag) to see what it would say. I just don't want that history showing it as fragmented. I understand it's a trivial complaint though, but don't like seeing it. That data has got to be saved somewhere in the OS and I want to blow it up

View 2 Replies View RelatedI go to tools, delete forms, history, and the rest, and there are about 20 websites in history that keep showing up when I go type a web address. I've tried CWShredder (says it doesn't exist on my computer). I've tried Spybot (which I did first) (showed coolwebsearch when it did a scan, then supposedly deleted it). I've tried Malware anti-bytes. I tried to try Stopzilla and Spyware Doctor, but they make you pay for it.
How can I possibly delete the history/ urls that keep showing up?
I just installed Windows 7 yesterday (with your help) and I am loving it so far, but there seems to be one problem I cant seem to figure out, I need to import my Internet Explorer history from my XP HDD to my 7 HDD. I first tried to copy the index.dat file, but there are just so many that I cant figure out which one needs to be moved/replaced. And now I cant even seem to find my "History.IE5" folder in XP, anybody have a tutorial or any advice?

After 2-3 weeks, Internet Explorer starts randomly choosing to disclude sites from its history, before reaching a point where it simply stops recording history. Yes, I HAVE all the settings properly adjusted so that it does not delete history upon exit, has an entire gigabyte of disk space reserved just for history, 400 days set to keep history, and it still ends up being a bi-monthly thing of me having to delete the history.

Is there a way to have start->run history kept while not keeping a history of the recently launched programs from the menu?
I know under the properties you have "Store and display recently opened programs in the Start menu", but this is what controls both.
I'm figuring theres probably some registry entry that will let me control them individually.
I bought a dell laptop 2years back. It was shipped with Windows Vista in C drive and a Recovery drive. I split C drive into C, D and E drives according to my requirements. Now I want to format my laptop. If I install windows again from dell recovery drive, will it combine erase data from all drives and combine them or it will erase and re-install windows on my C drive keeping rest of them as it is.

I have all the 80 + updates/patches downloaded and installed Everything is working good. My main partition is Drive C (system/boot/active) and I have an image backup of it stored on another drive My data partition is Drive D and I have file backups for it on another drive Issues. All is good except on restarts, I get chkdsk / drive consistency problems. In the event I cannot clear out the errors, I may need to reformat Question - Which, if any, of the two options should I go with.
OPTION 1
1) Boot from Win 7 OEM DVD
2) Select Custom/Advanced/Format
3) Let Win 7 format the drive and install clean.
4) But then blow away the WIn 7 version and recover Win 7 SP1 from the image backup
Or Option 2
1) Boot from WIn 7 OEM DVD (same as Option 1)
2) Select Custom/Advanced/Format (same as Option 1)
3) Let Win 7 format the drive and install clean. (same as Option 1)
4) And then continue from there ,ie start all over again to reload all the windows updates.
I want to read and record stories for my grandchildren to put on cd for Christmas. WHen I use the wondows 7 sound recorder, I sound so far away. I have tried to use a gaming headset with a microphone also but still, it's barely audible.. How I can make this recording clear, and loud?

If it does save, it will save the initial page but nothing after that. Normally when opening a website, a bar will appear above the taskbar at the bottom of the screen that says 'Website found, Waiting for reply...' on the left hand side and 100% on the right, etc., that bar is no longer appearing. I've check the internet options part and the 'delete browsing history on exit' is unchecked. Disk space is set at 250 and days at 20. I'm running windows 7, IE 9.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI recently bought a new desktop (Dell Intel core i5 2500 processor, 8gb ram, Windows 7 64bit Pro version). It is set up for automatic updates and I have not tweaked or added anything except Norton anti virus software. I am running IE9 (v9.02).
Yesterday I went to check up in IE9 Browsing History for a site I had visited earlier and found it was only displaying internal sites on my desktop visited. None of the various websites I had visited showed up. I looked back to earlier days and it was the same, nothing except internal searches.
I looked on the web for fixes, and found suggestions to check Internet options to check if it was set to Delete Browsing History when exiting search. It is not. Also to check if I am running In Private Browsing. I am not. And to try a reset of IE9 - I did and it made no difference.
I also have a Samsung Netbook running Windows 7 starter and the same version of IE9 (9.02) also running Norton anti virus and that is working just fine. So is it related to having Windows 7 64 bit version? Is there a fix?
IE9 has stopped adding webpages to my history (view => explorer-bars => history). This has been happening for 3 days now. The only entries in history are now regular files (like JPGs) under the heading "Computer", but no URLs or webpages are listed below that.
Two days ago I increased my history storage from 250MB to 512MB and increased the number of days to store from 250 to 512. Unfortunately, nothing has changed.
When using Remote assistance in windows 7 it shows a list(albeit a small one) of past addresses(ip or computername) that you have logged into. Problem is it is numeric/alphabetic order. Is there a registry setting I can change so it will show me this History in chronological order?

I don't know if it was that way before it was sent out or not, but it's definitely closer to the max than i would like it to be. I was able to clear about 30gb of space so now there's about 45gb worth of free space out of 143gb total. I have absolutely NO clue what is taking up so much space. Any help to get that number down would be great. We don't have an exorbitant amount of movies, pictures or music files on the computer either. So i'm really lost as to where it could be coming from.
