"Any know how to fix this issue? Running windows 7..Whenever I right click on a link to open in another window...the window opens at the bottom of the page...how can i configure it to open in the middle? "
One of the windows on the taskbar just switched position from being on the far left end of the taskbar to go into far right side of the taskbar. is this normal or is this some virus or something?
Something I like and can't seem to get Win 7 to do for me. I open a window for my computer, size it and set it at the upper left of my screen. I open folders in new windows; i.e. open the D: Drive and position it next to the window I opened for my computer. Close both. When I open my computer again it is now in the position where I opened the D: Drive. How do I get specific windows to retain the size and position I set each time I open them rather then simply pick up the size and position of the last window I opened?
What is the rational (if there actually is any) of not allowing one to save window size & position (other than the last window opened)?
Without using a 3rd party program (which seems to be the norm with Win7) has someone found a way to allow saving resized windows other than the last window opened??
Currently when to try to remote desktop to a Windows 7 Ultimate PC, all the active windows and moved to a single screen, even though before i connected, there were active windows on both screens of the PC.
So. Running XP.2 (can't run XP.3; it kills Adobe's CS2 apps, which I need). Had a spare partition. Before putting Ubuntu back on it, I figured I'd install the Win7 Ultimate that'd come (unused) with another computer.
(The install was smooth enough. The updates were slower'n snail poo. But after turning almost everything back to the Windows Classic theme, it's almost bearable. Only two of my devices were unrecognized and unsupported, and they're no surprise; the tablet's nearly twenty years old (even the manufacturer doesn't support it) and the scanner's older still.)
Installed copies of my must-have software--Office 2003 (I've had to suffer through Office 2007, and will never ever ever put it on a machine I have to work on), Photoshop and InDesign CS2, Winamp .
I got my first real exposure to User Access Levels when, the first time I ran Word 2003, Win7 wouldn't let me save the new Normal.dot. I later went and copied my much-customized normal.dot from its XP location, so the file's at least there. But: I run Word on a portrait-oriented monitor. Under XP, Word remembers the window size and position, and it's exactly where I want it, all the time. So far, every time in Win7 I've opened up an existing document, the Word window has instantly shrunk to around 40% of the size it's supposed to be.
I'm curious if this is a cling-on permissions issue with normal.dot under Win7, or a registry setting that simply hasn't gotten made (in XP, Word seemed to take care of remembering where I put and closed it by itself). Did a search, but didn't see any questions that seemed to relate to this, so I'll ask.
(I'm trying to like Windows 7, I really am. I don't much, but I'm trying. I don't mind the thought of getting a new tablet, and I've got another scanner I can use. But I really dislike having to resize my windows every time I open a document--I spend 75% of my time on the PC in Word, just writing.)
And again, I hate, loathe and despise Office 2007 and 2010. I do most emphatically not like the "death by honey and marshmallows" interface that microsoft seems to think is so great.

Whenever I search in Windows 7, I want to have the ability to open found folders in a new window. If I r-click, that option is not there. Is there a way to add this to Windows 7?
Also: When I go to 'open file location', the file's folder opens in the same window - highly annoying. In Vista, it opens in a new window. Anyway to change this behvior in Windows 7 to act like Vista, so the file opens in a new window?
[CODE]I've been getting this window when my computer starts up. It's a frame with the title "Microsoft.Net Framework." The message is as follows: Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click quit, the application will close immediatelyCannot anchor balloon at position '(x=1489.y=766)' The point is not contained within the visible bounds of any screen.
I've been looking to Reset the default windows size and position of WMP12 (in the Center of the Screen without Maximizing) the way it is used to be when we launch the WMP12 after a fresh install of Win 7. I know there might be some way to reset it's default size and postion from Regedit (Just like we can reset the Internet Explorer size and position by deleting 1 binary value from HKEY User/Software/Microsoft/Internet Explorer etc. )
How can I change the position of the folder in Windows 7? Example: If there are three folder in the drive; Suppose the following names:
1 - A 2 - B 3 - C.
If I want to change their arrangement i.e: I want to place the folder C instead of folder A. But when I do it i.e:by dragging it. It says: Move to A. So how can i do it?
I am running into an issue where I can open a window/program with my mouse however once the window is open I cannot click inside of it. The window becomes inactive. I also have noticed I cannot right click on my desktop to bring up the properties. I can right click on the window in the task bar to close it but not in the window. Since this is happening I am limited to command prompt. I ran sfc /scannow with no errors. I tried with 3 different mice. I booted the computer into safe mode with command prompt and brought up the device manager to show devices not in use, and when the device manager window opened I could click inside it! since I could use the window I uninstalled all mouse drivers, and reinstalled my microsoft wireless usb mouse driver.. while in this safe mode I changed my mouse properties to system default as I read somewhere that can reset things. Next I booted the computer in safe mode (without command prompt) and still the same thing. I was trying to do a restore point as well however my Kaspersky antivirus 2012 is preventing that as i cannot find a way to kill the program through command prompt.
I'm having an issue when typing text. It occurs when typing emails in Google and when typing in Word documents. It happens whether I'm connected to the Internet or not. As I type, the position of the cursor jumps positions, either to a previous point in the text (which results in text being inserted at this earlier point in the doc) or it jumps out of the text window compeltely (i.e. while typing an email or on Facebook). Does this sound like a familiar virus problem? what can I do?
We are all familiar with the fact that for people who dont use a single window in explorer that windows 7 removed much functionality.Window size, position and layout is not remembered anymore. For explorer and many application windows. I've been using a program called windowmanager since windows 7 was released, but the product only sometimes works and is extremely frustrating to get it to work properly and consistently. Now that upgrades are no longer available to me I'm looking around for something else.I remember reading here a couple of years ago about another product, but I can't find it. Does anyone know of such a product? Was it something MilesAhead wrote?
This is how my icons looks after I unistalled Stardock Fences app. I can't find the way to fix my icons default position :/ If someone knows how to fix this problem without reinstalling Windows OS
I've noticed that, when I put my computer to sleep and wake it back up, if I have a file explorer window open with a large list of files (several pages of family pictures in a detailed list view), the window defaults to the first (top) file in the list -- if I am clicking through pictures several pages down, and then sleep/wake the computer, while the last file I clicked remains highlighted, I have to scroll all the way down to find it again.
Whenever I open Google Chrome, it opens really close to the bottom of the taskbar, and I always have to manually drag it into the center of the screen and maximize it. How can I set it so that automatically opens in the center of the screen?
i 'm looking for a program , freeware that let me manage windows ,like save windows position and transparency something likeWinWarden but this doesn't save settings about windows.
Over the last several weeks, when I start up my Acer Netbook with Windows 7 starter, the first screen with the enter password box is loading up about an inch too low. As a result every screen winds up being too low ant the bottom of every page gets cut off and I can't scroll all the way down.
At first I would get this problem every once in a while, now it is happening constantly. Once in a while it will start up in the right location
The people at Microsoft says it is a problem with the operating system and offered to fix it at a substantial cost since the warranty just expired, of course. I also chatted with the manufacturer who suggested the problem was (a) corrupt file(s). I listened to their suggested solution and formatted the hard drive back to factory default condition. for a minute it looked like I solved the problem as on the firs couple of start ups the problem was gone. But soon after attempting to restore my files the problem came back and I still have it.
Some background first. I have three 1920x1080 monitors. The central monitor is Landscape. The two side monitors are portrait, used for working with web browsers, code, communication.I find it easer to deal with large amounts of text in portrait, where I can continuously track a lot of text without tracking back and forth across the entire width of a widescreen monitor. So, I'm trying to set a background. It works fine. It's abstract-ish, so I set the 'stretch' option. That works fine on the central monitor. On the two side monitors, the image is compressed between the left and right sides of the screen, but does not stretch to reach the top or bottom of the screen. The extent that they seem to extend up and down seem to exactly match the dimensions and alignment of the central screen. If this is so, then it would mean that on the portrait monitors, the background is filling a 1080x1080 block in the center of a 1080x1920 display. The only thing that functions properly is 'Tile'. None of the other options seem to produce any change in the image displayed.
A few days ago (16th July 2012) the Resident Shield of my AVG Internet Security 2012 reported an issue with the 'Services.exe' file located in C:WindowsSystem32 - specifically stating 'Trojan horse dropper.Generic_c.MMI' and saying that the 'Object is white-listed (critical/system file that should not be removed'.
I use the following command in the cmd box: "sfc /scanfile=c:windowssystem32services.exe". After doing this I had no more problems reported with services.exe.
Problem 1:However, now, my desktop icon arrangement has reset and grouped to the left side of the screen. I can re-position each icon however, upon reboot or the desktop Refresh command all Icons return to the left - to exactly the same position. Auto arrange icons is turned off and align to grid can be turned off however, it keeps turning itself on upon reboot.Icon re-positioning was always retained previously - this problem has only just appeared.
Problem 2:Upon double-clicking the desktop Computer icon I am now unable to permanently set the view from 'Tiles' to 'Details' (I can, temporarily) - this was never the case until the issue above (i.e. all explorer/folder views were permanently set to detail via 'folder options/view/apply folders').So, something has changed very recently. I've ran full scans using avg (virus, tracking and rootkit), malewarebytes mbam, spybot but the problem persists. I've re-checked system files using 'sfc /verifyonly' and no 'integrity violations' were found.
im connecting my pc with avi to the tv and my screen positioning is not working with my nvidia control panel.. im hooked up in the nvidia geforce 9800.. checked for tv driver updates and graphics card update all good.
I have discovered a frustrating problem when i attempt to customise my desktop background. While i have had no problems selecting the desired images or an problems with the slideshow itself i an unable to alter the picture position, meaning that the picture position is permanently on stretch which distorted the pictures. I select Centre from the drop down bar and then save the changes but it makes no difference, the pictures remain stretched and when i re-open the Desktop Background menu the Picture Position has reverted to Stretch
