Hard Disk Could Not Be Found When Doing Startup Repair?
Jan 29, 2012While attempting to perform a startup repair....I get a hard disk could not be found. I have a HP dv6 -3050 US....I'd like to know if this is for sure a hardware issue...before wasting time and money on ordering HP recovery disks..

Jun 8, 2011I reinstalled my hp notebook after getting message boot disk not found (3F0). I am running System Type x64 hp pavilion Dv7 with a AMD Phenom P840 Triple Core Processor.After restoring it from the recovery disk to.. from box condition and reloading all updates and drivers system still gives me the same message. The first time i reinstalled it to factory default and it didn't work. That is why the second time I did the from the box installation. I think I have created more than one operating system now and I don't know how to fix the problem. When it was originally loaded from Staples in January this year it wasn't really running great but I thought it was just my wireless connection was slow. Then it started to take a long time to do anything, on or offline. I went into the updates history from Microsoft and noticed that the first 14 updates they did failed. One of them was for display amd M880G with ati mobility. The computer began lagging worse and worse and starting to become unstable. That was when i decided to run the recovery disk not knowing that it was creating more hard disks. The message is back and now there is more than one hard disk and the last one i did was complete and all updates drivers were successful. I am still getting the boot devise not found message and sometimes it won't start at all.

Dec 1, 2012I'm looking at a Toshiba Satellite L455D with Windows 7 home premium. It's has a hard drive about a year old, which I installed for the person at that time with a new copy of Windows. Now, it hangs at the 'starting windows screen.' Start up repair relays this message:
No OS files found on disk.
Repair action: Partition table repair
Result: Failed error code = 0x490
I had tried booting with the dvd prior to seeing this. When it asked what os i wanted to boot, it did list the current os. The hard drive is listed correctly in the bios, so it is at least being recognized. Start up repair seems to be suggesting that the hard drive is wiped, or bad.

Dec 31, 2011I have a digital download verson of Windows 7 Pro64 that i am trying to install over my Vista Home premium 32 install. I have burned the contents of the download to a DVD, however when i try to boot to the DVD it says BOOTMGR is missing. The file structure is the same on the 7 DVD as it is on the Vista disk, and both have BOOTMGR on the top of the Disk.I do have hardware that supports 64bit, and i can boot from the Vista CD, so i think the issue is with the burnt 7 Disk.

No New Hard Drive Found - Just Installed It?
Sep 9, 2010I just added a new hard drive to replace the old one that is apparently corrupted. And I'm not sure what I did wrong. I was told to unplug the power supply and the old hd. Add the new one, and power it back up with the Windows 7 installation dvd. Did that and in trying to change the order in witch it boots to cd-rom, it shows sata hd not present? I don't know why, I replaced the cords in the right place. Do I need to configure it, if so how?

Nov 24, 2012I have this laptop with Windows 7 as the operating system and with a capacity of 500 GB. My HDD was making loud noises and weird noises so I brought it to the shop and they told me to change the HDD because it might die anytime. So I did a full backup on my external hard disk, meaning that I cloned my laptop. I changed my 500gb HDD with a 240gb SSD. And when I tried to restore my backup files into the new drive, there's an error: "no disk that can be used for recovering the system disk can be found".
So I did some research on the internet and found out the reason of the error: it's because the image created was from a bigger drive than the new drive I put into my laptop. Even though my backup files are only about 100gb, I still cant restore it to my 240gb SSD because the image created was from my 500gb HDD. I am going to copy my backup files into an external hardisk with a capacity of 200gb and then backup from that drive and then I will restore it into my 240gb SSD. Will the backup file be considered as a backup from the 200gb drive or from the original 500gb HDD?

I brought this new machine back in April, and it was working fine up until then. However, after trying to install some software (which didn't wanna install in the end anyway, due to it being rubbish!), I can now no longer see these drives on my PC The weird part too - is that my Win7 laptop has exactly the same issue ... but my brothers Vista laptop, and Win7 PC see them just fine!To start with I was thinking the drive had gone faulty (as it wasn't working on both my machines), but after testing it on my brothers stuff it prooved they are both working fine The USB's I'm using to connect it to are fine (They work for USB sticks and other USB kit) ... so I'm at a bit of a loss as to what it could be? The even weirder thing - is that my brothers 500gb external drive (can't remember what make that was, but its not Seagate) works just fine!Its driving me up the wall as I can't do my daily backups (I'm a software developer, so having a current backup of my PC incase of a fatal mess up with my system is vital for me)

I let that run ALL NIGHT LONG. In the morning, it asked if I wanted to do a system restore and I said yes. But it said I had no restore points. I knew that wasn't right so I ran through the memory check option and then the hard drive check and was told memory was fine but now I don't have a hard drive found or an operating system. I can have folders and WORD documents on my desktop, and it always comes up now with nothing found. If I create a test Folder, or WORD document, put on the Desktop, it won't find them. Always used to work fine. Only difference now is that I put in a new HD after the old one failed. Everything else seems to work fine.

It reboots right after the white screen.I am able at the HP logo screen able to navigate to System Restore and that is where I run into my next problem.When the System Restore window opens for confirmation it shows that "Local Disk (C) (System)" status: "Ready to restore" and the check-box next to it is checked.The next line has a empty check-box for "Local Disk (C)" with the status: "The drive cannot be found." I can also successfully boot into Safe Mode with Networking. I can access all my files. Which leads me to believe that it is a hardware problem. Possibly the motherboard or graphics card.

Apparently, the cloning succeds, but when I disconnect the old Disk and try to boot from the new one, when I log on I get stuck in "preparing your session".

Apr 5, 2012Windows 7 64bit has popped up saying it has detected a HDD problem, I need to back up my files immediately. I installed a new 2TB HDD (Samsung HD204UI) a couple of months ago, surely it shouldn't be failing already? This is my secondery disk. Is this by any chance a malware or virsus playing tricks on me?
