Have a nice laptop with full ram 1.6Ghz core 2 duo that will get the 3.02Ghz core 2 duo in November, and a 512MB 7400 go ( still dont know if I can upgrade that haven't open the case to see if its a soldered one or a pci slot with this model can be either or) and a 250G sata hdd,
well when I went form the media center to go to W7 I get the error that it don't recognize a HDD in the OS so what can I do in order to install W7 on this beast ??
I have this spare machine laying around (AMD Athlon X2 5000+, 4 GB RAM, 320 GB HDD, GeForce 9500 GS) and I was wondering what OS I should put on it. It's not going to be an everyday usage computer but I don't know whether to make it a server or a media center. My primary machine has Windows 7 Pro x64 and my roommate's machine has Vista x64, and while 7 is obviously a fantastic OS, I wonder if something different might be better. Any advice?

The real issue is that those drivers only support a resolution of 600 x 600 dpi but the HP LaserJet 5000 has a max resolution is 1200 x 1200 dpi.
Any idea how get the max resolution out of the printer?
Has anyone tried to run this scanner under Windows 7 64 bit? The Nikon website was unclear as to whether it is compatible. Windows Compatability center lists it as compatible.

Recently the mouse stopped working, however it is still showing up in the list of devices. Right-clicking on the mouse's icon does not show a remove or delete menu item, so I can't attempt to re-add the mouse as a new Bluetooth device.Other Bluetooth devices still work with the notebook, and the mouse still works with my PS3, so I don't think it's a hardware problem.How can I remove the device from the list of devices, so I can try to add it again? Or is there some other way I can try to get the mouse working again?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a little hardware problem with my dell, So when the computer is on for (like 4 hours) and when the cpu reaches like 70 a 100% cpu usage the computer is making a weird 'Vwrrrrrrr' noise. the normal noise (when it is just on) is a quiet noise I think it's the fan that makes that noise but I'm not 100% sure so what can it be for sure ? Is the fan broken or should I give it a new layer of thermal paste ??

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an HP MobileWorkstation Elitebook 8440w with Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit OS and I'm unable to add this mouse as a Bluetooth Device.I was able to add the device to my old HP Elitebook 8530w with Windows Vista and it worked most of the time, but then it stopped working when the OS was updated to Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit. I don't have administrative permission on the 8530w to remove the device to attempt adding it again to see if that helps. Also, I can't change the Bluetooth settings on that machine to rule out that as the problem due to the same lack of permission.Rather than go back to my administrator to change the settings on the old 8530w and waste time trying to see if the mouse connects with it, I'd rather get my mouse to connect to my current 8440w laptop for which I can change the Bluetooth settings.
I tried to get the sys admins at work to fix this mouse problem, but they couldn't do it with the limited time they had to spare, especially since I have the option of using a USB mouse they provided. The problem is that I spent $50 on this mouse and it worked before the Windows 7 install on the 8530w and never worked on the 8440w. Once disconnected it is not recognized again when I start using my computer again. To get my computer to connect to it again I either have to restart or delete the drivers and reconnect the mouse. Is there a way to change the bluetooth settings so that it doesn't "sleep" after a period of time? I dont know if that is the problem but I cant think of anything else. I'm using the mouse on my desktop outlined in my system specs.

I have tried to reinstall and repair the HDD but the disc fails to recognize my HDD (Western Digital Scorpio Black 500 GB). My HDD is Basic, has 3 primary partitions and 1 extended (3 logical). Ubuntu 11.10 can boot fine.

I am running Windows 7 Pro 64-bit on a stand-alone PC with a hardwired Internet connection (no router).
I've built a brand new PC and decided that I would like to install windows 7 64 bit on my SSD, I got a disk+key from my university before christmas so that'd i'd be ready once i'd built it.
I built the PC yesterday and realised that I'd left my external DVD drive at my university accommodation, I'm at my parents house for christmas break so that's a few weeks left. I can't really wait that long so I used my parents laptop (which I'm posting from now) to turn the disk into an .iso and use the microsoft USB utility to make a USB stick that i could install from.
However when I tried the install gets to 'installing features' and gives 'windows cannot install required files' error code 0x80070570 I looked the code up on google which sent me to a lot of threads here, so far I've tried:
Taking all but 1 stick of ram out and the graphics card. Reseting the bios to default Installing again without rebooting after error. using cmd to select the right partition
tell me if a re-install from a system image file on my notebook is as good as a clean install from say a retail disk.I can not format all my drive and start a fresh. Can my System image file become glitchy or infected with a virus.?
View 5 Replies View RelatedFirst off this is a newly built computer, all fresh components. aftercleaning/activating the hdd via shift +f10 at Windows 7 setup,(which took me a day to figure out) i was very excited to see my hdd available for Windows 7 installation. as i proceed windows does its thing, after installing its time for the first restart. it restarts right back to the initial windows 7 setup ive done a lot of research, and majority of the problems seem to be the boot priority in bios. so i made sure that it was usb-hdd, then hard drive. (Windows 7 on flash drive for me, no dvd burner available). still the same thing, right back to initial setup. i tried maybe to remove the flash drive during the 10 second countdown to restart, but when it restarts, the windows splash screen comes up and then blue screens and restarts real quick. cant see what the error is on bsodthere have been a couple different start up issues, "windows did not start properly" "select version of windows to start from" (or something to that effect.) but its all the same outcome. windows 7 just wont finish installation
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm working on a re-install of all components following a complete corruption of the boot sector on my drive which could not be fixed with repairs. The last time I installed everything fresh, I had no issues. Between then and now, there have been no hardware changes on my system, but now I am having issues installing the IDT Codecs. I keep getting an error along the following lines: Quote: ExitError: Error=Device Object not present, restart the system and run setup again. Running under compatibility mode, and running drivers from both the motherboard CD and the manufacturer website both have the same effect. The CD, when booted, says "This OS not support!" and only contains 32-bit vista codecs. ECS' website download indicates the IDT drivers as being compatible with Windows 7. Both do not work. It is almost as if the hardware "disappeared," despite the fact that I was using the drivers quite successfully till just 2 days ago, when the boot sector went kaput.
Windows has installed its own default set, which do nothing to power the 8mm jacks which I use with my speakers, but instead put sound through the HDMI, which is useless because I use a dedicated graphics card. I have tried uninstalling this codec and re-installing IDT, to no effect. Windows replaces with its own default codec.I have referenced this thread here, but offered solutions do not seem to work for me: Intel IDT Audio Driver will not install
