I scan documents and pictures and they show up visually in the HP Solution Center box. I click on "finish" and the scan does not get saved to my hard drive. I click on "launch directory automatically" and it does not do this. I have another PC running XP and the functionality works fine. I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate 64.how to get the images (documents or pictures) to actually save to the hard drive - or to e-mail?
If I use the scan program in Win7 it only allows me to save documents as a TIF or JPEG. Why cant I save as a PDF ?My printer is a HP 2570. Before I changed to Win7 I had a dedicated HP Information Centre that I used to scan, save and organise in any format I or my customers chose. This program also updated automatically but is not available within Win7. Do I need to download this program again from HP or will there be a conflict with Win7 ?
I've worked on many before and as you know most of the time you can force a drive to spinup and cough up at least sOME data.... every now and then I get a harder case.
dealing with this caused a question in my mind: I have the bad drive [PATA notebook drive -seagate momentus] attached to a usb bridge device that I use for all such issues. in this case, when I do a fresh start, with the external bridge powered up before cold boot, once 7 Ultimate gets coherent I run disk Management - the scan will popup the box saying "this disk needs to be initialized" and I give it the go - it gives "device not ready".that does not surprise me since the drive seems to only spin [motor runs] sporadically.
What I'd like to know is: what is the applet "seeing" - what is it in disk management that recognizes there is something akin to a Disk out there on one of the device ports?the followon question would then be: what low-level tool can I use that can attempt communication with the drive's firmware to try to get a spinup command or something to give me a chance???
I have seen an old macintosh drive - WD if I recall - that was in similar state. sometimes I could get a read via the usb bridge, but no data. finally after days of trying I gradually was able to start reading - it would spin very slowly and erratically, taking literally days to complete the forensic tool's scan....
I have downloaded and installed the free Windows Security Essentials from Microsoft. I dont know if this scans emails or if there really is a need to do so.
If there is a need to scan emails and this is not covered by WSE, is there a recommended email scanner to download ?
My email client is Thunderbird.
Also, my set up has Glarys Utilities free edition to "optimise" and clear dead files etc and I wondered how good this was compared with others ?
Every time I start my computer it scans the hard drive before starting and takes 10-20 minutes, this has happened since it crashed yesterday, I think it is a problem with missing files.
How do I fix the files that cause the problem and cause it to need to do a scan?
I have scanned using the scan before startup and the windows scan (the one that requires restart)
I keep getting a google redirect and I thought I would do an online virus scan, but everytime I go to any antivirus scan site it say internet explorer not working
as the post title suggests, i have had system problems since removing Antimalware Doctor. no trace of the virus seems to be on my computer but i still get the error message that Windows Explorer has stopped working. i have read other threads and followed the instructions as well as trying the suggestion of sfc.exe but when i try to open sfc.exe a CMD window pops up for a split second then quits and nothing else appears to happen. is there anything else i can try?
Opening any program is either extremely slow or will crash the computer, but if it works then it works fine any other time you open it. Until the PC goes into sleep mode or is rebooted the problem is non-existent. no error messages are displayed and apparently, its not shown on the task manager's PC usage... also virus and spyware scans have shown nothing. This will stop after about 10 minutes of idol usage
I recently installed windows 7 home premium on my HP G62 notebook PC. When I click on the start menu it shows bluetooth file transfer. When I click that it does says send and receive file but never scans. I tried installing drivers from the HP website. But it does not show on device manager or anywhere.
I changed via the dialog the TEXT SIZE via the screen resolution in the control panel to CUSTOM SIZE.With one of the newer "Cinema" or Very Wide screen (1680 X 900) displays after I'd increased the text size to over 160 % I didn't get the possibility to SAVE any documents any more via the SAVE AS button. The SAVE dialog would appear but the SAVE button was missing. The effect was noticed in Office 2007 (all programs) Notepad etc etc.Seems to be a Windows fault as this should not be allowed to happen.on more traditional "Squarer" type monitors -- no problem.
Is there any way to set the default save location folder for downloads in IE8 to the last folder that the same file type was saved in? It makes no sense to default to a single folder and have to browse through to the desired folder for every single download, so I assume there has to be an option somewhere.
Is it possible to "Save In Last Location" without changing the "Default Save Location" from then on? I would like to see the same location (destination) in the "Save As" Pop Up box, every time I edit each picture, for any individual session...see picture below for the string of actions that I have to go through each time

I woke up this morning, and I found that my computer was displaying this message"Disk boot failure, insert system disk and press enter". There are a ton of needed documents on the computer, and I'm hoping that they can be saved some way.
After I got my new laptop, I installed antivirus, windows updates, etc, removed bloatware and installed the software that I actually use. Then I created my System Repair disk (single disk). Does this disk include all software and windows updates that were on my computer at the time I created the disk? I have read that System Repair disks will only have the factory settings of Windows 7, but I don't know if this is the case for all System Repair disks or only those that came with the computer and were made before the computer was purchased?I've also read that a System Repair disk could include a system image. Is this true and done by default when the System Repair disk is created?
I've been having this error even after reformatting and reinstalling Windows 7 on my desktop. I've done reformatting / reinstalling Windows 7 several times, yet the problem still occurs. I'm thinking of my HDD as being corrupted or messed up. The problem occurred after I accidentally hit the CPU when I was stretching my foot. The screen froze after that. Upon rebooting it, 'Disk boot failure, Insert system disk and press enter' occurs. After I entered the DVD installer of Windows 7, the screen just hangs.
I have been having a bit of trouble with windows 7 lately, namely that it won't start up right. When I boot from the drive normally, it gives me the classic "BOOT DISK ERROR: INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER" message.
However, I soon discovered that if I boot from the Windows 7 cd and do not boot from it (By ignoring the "Press a key to boot from CD or DVD..." Windows 7 boots up fine. I've tweaked my BIOS over and over, but the same problem persists. The drive is brand new and fine. What can I do?
My friend bought a new PC and needed to put am OS on it. He put in the W7 disk and the error message 'disk boot failure insert system disk and press enter' appeared before installation was shown. He has tried changing around BIOS and it also recognises the hard drive and DVD/ CD ROM drive. Here is the specification he was given:Case : CIT Reaper Black Mesh fronted Tower CaseMotherboard : Gigabyte 78LMT Motherboard TechnologyCPU : AMD Bulldozer FX 4170 4.2ghz 8mb CacheHard Drive : 1tb Sata Hard DriveMemory : 8gb DDR3 1600mhz MemoryOptical Drive : 24x Dual Layer Sata DVD WriterGraphics Card : Nvidia Geforce GTX 650 2gb GDDR5 With HDMIPower Supply : 750 Watt Branded Power Supply Also, he has tried booting BIOS in different order
trying to install Windows 7 on sony laptop with a copy that is different from the original copy of Windows 7.did partdisk, clean all, create partition, and dvd install gave the "can't install to disk, turn on disk controller in BIOS" error. there is no disk controller function in my BIOS.if partdisk clean all was successful, does that mean the HDD and its controller board are ok, that is, not physically damaged, and the problem is with software/installation/setup etc.?what should i do next, in order to have a successful install?
I have IOmega 1 TB hard drive. 2 days ago, my comp restarted suddenly after which my external drive is corrupted.I get the error 'H: is not accessble' The disk structure is corrupted and unreadable. It shows up in the disk management as RAW file system,I have almost 700 GB of important documents, pictures & files that I don't want to lose.Does anybody know of any good recovery software that can help.
I purchased a new PC with Windows 7 in June 2012. It came with a Samsung optical disk containing Windows 7. I am eligible for the $14.99 USD upgrade to Windows 8.Will there be an installation disk for Windows 8 available at this price and if not, then how much more will it cost?If not, then how should I ensure that I can easily install Windows 8 after a hard disk crash? Do I have to keep my Samsung optical disk of Windows 7?
in my hardisk with G: size 465gb xp shows that 74.86 gb is remaining space......while space used is 0 , there are no hidden files, nothing in the disk K: size 186gb same as above and remaining is 35 gb according to windows xp i: size 196gb .in this only 9 gb is used and xp shows that 10gb is remaining//
i remember, last week everything was ok and all of sudden this problem has occurred. all other drives are ok only these three are way over their own heads.
my system is
Intel Core i5-2300 cpu@2.8ghz 2.79ghz,3.48 GB of RAM and windows is 32 bit/
One of the hard disks suddenly failed to initialized. The first problem I found on this disk was unable to open one of the zip files then the machine crashed. After I restarted the machine the HDD drive was missing from the Computer. My computer has 6 hard drives including the missing one. One is Corsair SSD for the OS and the rest are Samsung, Hitachi and WD all of them are 1TB. When I checked on the Device Manager the Drive is there and the device status is properly working. I checked on the Disk Management and I got a message to Initialize the Disk then I followed the instruction. Again I got an error message " Virtual Disk Manager - The system cannot find the file specified." On the Disk Management windows the status of the Disk is "Unknown 931.51GB Not Initialized- Unallocated". I tried to initialize but the same error I got. I did not name this drive but it named automatically RV 01 and the Location is 0.I use Acronis Disk Director to fix the problem but it cannot change the status to online. What I did last week was I installed some programs to the Drive X instead of Drive C.My computer OS is Windows 7 64bits all the drivers and software are updated.
