View 2 Replies View RelatedSomehow, my pillow, very gently, accidentally fell on the keyboard. For some reason, this caused my background to go back to some default picture, my desktop gadgets were gone, and other little customizable things (such as window colors and not hiding the taskbar) were also gone. So I changed everything back to the way it was and I was happy.

When Windows start, the gadgets isn't display.Even, it's not displaying "Windows Desktop Gadgets has stopped working" message. When I right-clicked on my desktop and select the gadgets, the gadgets isn't displaying too. View 0 Replies View RelatedAnytime I click the Show Desktop button at the bottom-right in Windows 7, it shows me the desktop, BUT my sidebar gadgets all disappear. They all re-appear as soon as I un-minimize anything on my taskbar. Rebooting doesn't change this behavior. If the problem isn't clear, here's more of a step-by-step of what's happening:
-I have a few Google Chrome windows up, let's say.
-I *hover* over the Show Desktop button, and it shows my desktop, and my sidebar gadgets are all there. No problem so far.
-I *click* on the Show Desktop button, and it shows the desktop, *and* the sidebar gadgets are suddenly gone, as if the sidebar has also been hidden in order to show the desktop.
-Let's say I click on the Start menu and open sound recorder...The sidebar gadgets re-appear at this point. Likewise if I restore one of the windows that's minimized on the taskbar.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've seen solutions posted all over for removing the desktop icon from appearing in windows 7 when you press alt+tab, but this does not seem to aply the change to the win+tab shortcut.I added a DWORD called 'AltTabSettings' inKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionExplorer and set the value to 1, is this supposed to work for both alt+tab and win+tab? If not, anyone know how to do this? It would make win+tab (which is much prettier of an effect than alt+tab) much more effective.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhat my plan is, is to remove Desktop from the Navigation Pane maybe using a Registry Hack but I think if it did, it would remove the others too since they expand from Desktop. I never use Desktop from Navigation Pane and just find it to be a nuisance to always have it collapsed and just remove it instead. I have already removed Favourites and if I can get Desktop to be removed I will remove the Homegroup and Network from that too using Brink's already made Tutorials.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm using Windows 7 x64 SP1 Pro on a HP Compaq notebook. Since I installed Windows and all those HP apps (some of them apparently required to access BIOS) I got this shortcut on desktop and I cannot remove it. Deleting it manually does not work and the shortcut does not appear in User/Desktop or Public/Desktop folders. Right clicking it does not show the usual menu but this so I cannot get the location of the file. Also, the Remove Icon option does nothing not even in Safe Mode. How to get rid of this? Some suggested to reinstall the app however this also does not work.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have windows 7 starter and my gadgets do not work. the clock shows up as a black box, the slideshow does not show anything, etc. The only options I get next to the gadgets when I 'hover' my pointer is 'close' and 'move'; I do not get the 'options' or 'resize' keys. I have tried everything! Turned off and on UAC; turned windows programs on and off for gadgets; all of the registry editor settings are appropriate (zone 0 set at 0, there is no parasite in the zones); I have also tried setting up another user account..
