View 3 Replies View RelatedI've seen solutions posted all over for removing the desktop icon from appearing in windows 7 when you press alt+tab, but this does not seem to aply the change to the win+tab shortcut.I added a DWORD called 'AltTabSettings' inKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionExplorer and set the value to 1, is this supposed to work for both alt+tab and win+tab? If not, anyone know how to do this? It would make win+tab (which is much prettier of an effect than alt+tab) much more effective.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a laptop computer that indicates it is part of a homegroup. I would like to leave the homegroup but I get the error message "Windows couldn't remove your computer from the homegroup." The homegroup was started on my desktop and I changed the password. I expected the laptop to detect that the password had been changed but it didn't. So I tried to leave the homegroup to rejoin with the new password but I'm not allowed to leave.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI reformatted my comptuer about...2 months ago roughly, which i would think would reset the computers setting so i wouldn't be in a home group but reguardless i can't leave the homegroup that i'm in. i can't view homegorup password which makes me belive i'm not actually -IN- a homegroup but my computer THINKS it is. i've tried deleting the idstore.sst file and replaced it with the trouble shoot thingy but that didn't work.. If there is a way to completely reset the HG feature that would be great, or replace a file to kick em out of the home group or something.

I think the issue is the network name for some reason is NETWORK 3 on my desktop but on my laptop it's something else, my laptop can create a homegroup but my desktop cannot. It's weird, my desktop cannot create not join my laptop homegroup but my laptop can create it just can't join my desktop so it's a desktop issue and I think it's the multiple network names after you set up a network and it asked you if this is public or home I created like 3 of them since my wifi routers kept on going bad.

I have setup a Homegroup for a desktop and 2 laptops. All computers have joined the Homegroup and the 2 laptops can see files on the other computers. However, when I try to access the other computers from the desktop, I'm asked to sign in. I enter the other computer user's name and since neither has a password I just click on OK. Then I get a message that says I don't have permission to access the files. Why am I asked to sign-in only on my desktop? Do I need to setup passwords on the laptops?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a really annoying problem with desktop icons.I use 2 monitors. 1920x1200 is the main dislay and 1600x1200 is another one for extended desktop. The thing is that I don't need it all the time so I'd like to switch the extended desktop on and off when I need it. Problem is that entering the ex. desktop just somehow changes the grid (it seems that the grid becomes more compressed in vertical direction). That means that it always messes my icons up. I don't know why do the Windows change the grid when I do not change the resolution or just anything that could possibly affect the main screen.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI wanted to know if it was possible to remove the hoverpress highlight that appears on the icons on the desktop and in Windows Explorer. Here's a picture to show you what I mean. I did some searching and found there is no up front way to do this, as it requires modifying some (system) files. I am familiar with Resource Hacker and such;I just need to know which files to modify. And also, which resources (images and such) would need to be changed.

I think it is because when I share it with my homegroup, the Everyone/Cooperation (I'm not sure to use the good word, I'm using the french version) option disapear and I can't add it anymore.By default :Once shared and unshared : (can't add Everyone - Cooperation, which cause I presume the lock on the folder)My only option is to share it again with the Homegroup or with Everyone with Read instead of Cooperation. I don't want this folder to be shared anymore.
