Firefox - How To Make Previously Closed Tabs To Open Again After Booting
Jul 12, 2012
Until a few months ago, when I closed firefox, all tabs at once, or shut my pc down with the tabs open and later booted the pc and opened firefox, the tabs that were previously open would open again. Some time ago a firefox update stopped the previous tabs from opening. I have some forums that I read and would like for them to open as before. How to make them open automatically as before or did firefox do away with that option?
For Firefox 17, "Clear recent history"+"Everything"+All boxes selected sometimes does not clear all history of recently closed tabs & windows . I really don't know why but somebody said some of my installed plugins may make this error occurred.
I have about a dozen Firefox tabs open on my taskbar at the bottom of the screen. Win7 64bit on Dell E6510. But some of them will shift position on the taskbar on their own. Happens all the time, and it's very aggravating because I'm needing to be able to hit them quickly and often and need to have them stay in the expected position. Can't afford the time to hunt around for them. For example [URL]will often move itself to the far right. Even BigCharts.com is doing this now. None of my searches on the web can answer how to stop this. It's easy to grab/drag a tab window for another application around on the taskbar, but within the single application of Firefox this doesn't work. Why/how are these windows shifting around? This never happens on my other laptop, a WinXP SP3 machine.
I d/l and installed Firefox to see 'what it's all about'. I liked it. However, one day I was downloading some files and closed the browser. I noticed that when I did this all downloads terminated and left me with incomplete files. Since IE has never behaved this way I was most upset and gave Firefox the boot. This was many versions ago and am wondering if it still does this.
When i pass over the icon of firefox on my toolbar at the bottom of the screen( unsure of its real name but the bar with the time and start icon) each and every tab shows up separately. just today i repartitioned my hardrive, and before the reinstall it only showed whatever windows were open, no matter how many tabs were in each.If there is any way i can return it to the old state that would be fantastical, i find it much easier to keep track of my browser and the windows i have open
My laptop was left on yesterday with numerous firefox tabs open (x20) for various websites, although no one was using the computer and this is a regular occurrence without fault until yesterday. I'd gone out fishing and noticed the BSOD and took this photo of the screen showing the full error as "stop 0x0000007A (0xc0487688, 0x3e5898c0, 0x96ed7e3e)"
I had altered the BSOD settings in the past to stop the laptop from restarting in order to have time to take note of the error codes in case of future failures, although I hadn't had any BSOD for over a year. The previous BSOD's were 0x000000d1 (netwLv32.sys) and 0x0000007e (Volsnap.sys), unlike those BSOD's, the one shown in the photo doesn't have a description other than the error code.
I had turned off the laptop while in BSOD, having completed dumping physical memory; subquent restarts were only reaching here followed promptly by a black screen with the flashing white underscore, which I could escape by alt+Ctrl+delete. At one point the laptop did load and somehow I was able to access System recovery options and selected startup repair, which I viewed the log prior to restarting and everything completed successfully and although I did restart the computer, I haven't been able to proceed further than the initial loading window or the defaulting black screen that follows.
I've tried running the BIOS setup utility, with the hard disk self test diagnostics, though this failed each time.
Not able to provide any debug logs until I can proceed further. Have the windows 7 back up DVD disc, but not sure if my DVD drive is playing up, as when I push ESC and enter into the boot menu selecting the Atapi cd/DVD rom drive, it only goes to the prior mentioned black screen and remains there long after 5 mins. The disc drive is heard to be working if the disc is within, though nothing results on the screen. I had recalled some difficulty prior to this BSOD with the CD/DVD rom, having decided it was either only a driver or possibly registry error or required itunes reinstall, as afterwards having successfully read a music cd with itunes.
I don't think I have the windows recovery discs or system restore discs, as I tried some I thought were these, but nothing occurred and I figure they must be from when I tested the windows 7 beta or W7RC or such. So only have the legit Windows 7 back up disc (32 & 64 bits), which I was running 32 bit. Only twice has it shown up "Press any key to boot from disc", although there was no response and it doesn't always reach this prompt.
Basically, all of the icons on my desktop, as well as my entire taskbar, including the windows icon, have disappeared. It happened about 20 minutes ago, when I forced firefox to close via task manager. After I hit End Process, the icons and my taskbar disappeared. I can't right-click my desktop either. However, my desktop background, as well as the toolbar on the top is still there, and all of my programs as well as explorer are accessible. I've done one cold restart, and nothing changed. I've gone into the control panel, but I couldn't access anything associated to the task bar, and my windows key does not work as well.
All of a sudden I can no longer open or close new tabs using the middle mouse click (clicking the scroll wheel) it doesn work in ie or in firefox. Also seems like it doesn't work on the desktop or any other application. I have'nt installed new updates or new programs, I don't have any "mouse software" like intellipoint. This affects both my wireless keyboard with built in trackball and a serperate wireless scrollmouse. The only think I can think of is that a few days ago I changed the the speed of my cursor.. of course this shouldn't have affected anything else.... but it is really annoying as I mostly use my computer for web browsing and always open links in new tabs..
I work in an architecture office using Quickbooks to track hours, expenses, billing, etc. The company QB files reside on the server in a shared directory that is mapped as drive Z: on all machines through a domain logon script that runs when each person logs on to their machine. The company file runs in multi-user mode so that everyone can access the file and enter their hours at the same time. The problem is that if anyone happens to leave Quickbooks open at night, the server backup process (running BackupExec) will skip the files that are in use, usually either 2 or 3 files. This is potentially bad news because if anything happened to the server the following day after those files were skipped, we would not have the file from the night before to restore, which could potentially mean lots of information lost (sometimes lots of info is entered in one day, especially on "billing" days).Sometimes people will leave in the afternoon for a meeting, thinking they'll be back later and leave their programs open. But then the meeting ends up running long and they don't come back until the next day. That's usually why Quickbooks ends up getting left open on a machine overnight. What I'm wondering is if there's a way to make the program automatically close, if it's open on any machine, perhaps just before the backup process starts on the server. Or, make the program close if the computer has been idle a certain amount of time.Is there any way to make this happen? All machines in our office that have Quickbooks on it run Windows 7, except for one machine that still runs XP.
How do they do it in Tomshardware's Web Browser Grand Prix? There is a test where they open 40 tabs in order to test memory efficiency. Do they open tabs one by one or they have batch or script file. I just want test it because most of the time, I only open 10 to 15 tabs when browsing the internet. But in reality, do people really have 50 to 100 tabs open all at the same time, I mean what are they doing on their browsers?
I posted a while ago saying my laptop would freeze etc, and I suspected it was because my fan needed to be cleaned. I got it checked out and cleaned, and my fan is working perfectly okay now. However, the freezing just happened again. I wasn't doing anything specifically hardcore, I just had my browser open and was listening to the radio, and scrolling through Facebook etc. I had only 3 or 4 tabs open. When I opened a new page to someone's blog, my laptop froze again. The mouse froze, I couldn't do anything, even my Caps Lock wasn't functioning. The music started going insanely slow. I waited for a bit and it stayed like that, so I just switched it off and restarted it. I got my hard drive checked out at the store and they said it's okay and there are no issues with it. It might be my registry because I use CCleaner from time to time.
I am using IE9 and was logged into my bank (https) but noticed after making a transaction that I had another tab open on a safe but unsecured site. Will this have compromised my https tab?
I recently upgraded my FF 7.0.1 (or whatever the most up-to-date version of 7 is/was) to 8.0 and am noticing an issue. The problem I am experiencing is that when I launch FF (regardless if its done via the start menu or the button pinned to my taskbar), it adds a separate taskbar button (a la previous versions of Windows) instead of how Windows 7 normally handles such things. In addition to this, it also does not reflect having multiple tabs/windows open on the taskbar button (the attached image shows how the button for IE(9) displays the different tabs I have open in it, as well as the vertical lines next to the button which represent the number of tabs/windows open; however, the Firefox button does not function in either way, but you can see in the image that I have 3 tabs open in the browser window). Are these compatibility bugs between Windows 7 and Firefox (that the Mozilla devs need to address)?
I want to make Hotmail the Firefox default---I have used this in the past, and it worked. Now, no luck. To make Firefox use Hotmail for mailto links, do the following.
1. Type about:config into your location bar and hit enter. If you've never edited used about:config before, you'll see a warning. 2. Click "I'll be careful, I promise!" This will bring you to the about:config window. 3. In the filter field type "gecko". Double click the first entry gecko.handlerService.allowRegisterFromDifferentHost to change the value to true. 4. Copy and paste the text between the following text into the location bar and hit enter: javascript:navigator.registerProtocolHandler('mailto', [URL]); 5. You will see an information bar drop down at the top of the window. Click "Add Application." You've finished installing the Hotmail protocol now you just need to select it. 6. Go to Firefox>Preferences>Applications, if you are using a Mac, or Tools>Options>Applications, if you are using Windows. Now scroll down the list by content type and find mailto. In the drop-down menu to the right select "Use Hotmail". 7. Next, return to about:config. 8. If the warning comes up again, click "I'll be careful, I promise!" 9. In the filter field type "gecko", and double click the first entry gecko.handlerService.allowRegisterFromDifferentHost to change the value back to false.
I am using Windows 7I can not open a gif file sent to me. Only one way I know how to open is:~ right click on gif~ click on "properties"~ click on "change"...but there is no "change"...
I have downloaded firefox; but it will not open. the hourglass appears for a split second..and goes away.but...when i tried to uninstall FF, i got a msg saying that i needed to "close it" first! ??? how can i close it if it never opened? i'm confused. apparently it's open?
Whenever Firefox 8 opens, it opens in minimized mode (ie, just about covers the whole monitor screen, but not quite...hovering over single square in upper right gives a tooltip of "Maximize". I'd like it to open in maximized mode (in upper right should show double square and "Restore Down" tooltip)--how? Within the icon's shortcut on the desktop, properties>run>normal or maximize makes no difference, FF still opens minimized.
EDIT: BTW, the same thing is also happening on my laptop which is configured exactly the same as this desktop. Different computer manufacturers, but same OS and same configs for FF8.
I have got a problem with my system. The Internet Explorer was working fine, but suddenly yesterday for any urlprovided in the browser window, it shows 'Page cannot be displayed'. Am not able to browse any pages.I tried the following---> Setting the Windows Security settings to default,---> Checking the network connections.---> Tried downloading Mozilla and tried browsing from that, to know whether the problem is with IE, but the same problem exist with Mozilla too.
Right now I'm working with Internet explorer. Firefox and Chrome don't open any websites. I changed the internet settings in control panel but it didn't help. Some people tell it's about antivirus programs. I am using NOD32 antivirus?
My laptop has Windows 7 and IE, Chrome, and Firefox wont open. I always use Chrome. Its really weird because my laptop says it is connected to the internet through my wireless router. It loads for a while and then says "This webpage is not available." Im thinking maybe a virus has switched some settings, beacuse I ran Mal Ware bytes and something came up that I deleted.
I've got a new system, and almost at random I get a BSOD on occasion. No excessive system load, and the only correlation I can see is that Firefox had been open each time. I've included CPUZ screen shots in addition to the dump files.

After a complete system recovery when I wanted to save an image I go to File, Save as and Mozialla Firefox saves it as Firefox document. I cannot open the image. In the past I use to save using Irfanview in a JPG format. How can I delete or disable my Firefox document save? I may have invertently sent a post incomplete by hitting the enter button.
when I open PDF file in Fx (open in new tab), I can scroll only that PDF file, however if I change focus to other tabs it doesn't work (external mouse is not affected, only touchpad).Closing PDF tab restores scrolling ability.
If I have multiple Firefox browsers open that are not in full screen mode, once clicked on, that screen disappears before I can reach it with my pointer. This happen with all pinned icons that are not in full screen mode or a small notification box.Someone mentioned that Lenovo maybe had an update that messed with the settings.
I am unable to open Windows 7 64 bit normally. This has been an escalating problem for about a month. It began as a problem every 4-5 times I started Windows 7. It got more frequent and then, about two weeks ago, I was unable to open Windows 7 normally at all. I can get to Safe Mode. When I try to open Windows 7 normally, I get the Windows logo and Starting Windows, then the screen goes black. The red light indicating hard drive activity continues to flicker but the screen will remain empty for as long as I want to wait.I have run Startup Repair booting from the installation DVD. It either finds nothing wrong or fixes something and tells me to restart, but I can't. I have tried System Restore three times with no luck. I'm just going around in circles. The only things new to the computer are more RAM and an nVidia graphics card but these were installed after the problem began.
I have 2 hard drives, one with Windows 7 and one with Ubuntu Linux installed. The Llnux side works fine so I have internet access.I have run Malwarebytes, SuperAntispyware, something from Kaspersky that looks for rootkits. I have run hardware diagnostics. I have Norton 360 on the Windows 7 drive. All are up to date. None can find anything wrong.Last week I took it to trouble-shooting session at HAL-PC (Houston Area League of PC users) and it worked fine plugged into their CRT monitor and wired keyboard and USB mouse. When I brought the set home, it still didn't work Is it the display or the keyboard causing the problem?I have a Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse and a Viewsonic LCD monitor. The PC, monitor, keyboard and mouse are about 3 years old.I have unplugged everything from the PC except the monitor and the wireless keyboard dongle. I tried starting and then immediately unplugging the dongle so the the PC could not be getting spurious signals from the keyboard or mouse. It didn't work- wouldn't open.
I have a Toshiba Satellite C650-17Z laptop running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit. I came across a problem today with the computer taking 2-3 minutes on the "Starting Windows" boot screen alone, but since it has finally gotten past that process applications are taking absolutely ages to load up, and stop responding when they finally do load up.
I attempted a Startup Repair and Memory Diagnostic - the Memory Diagnostic came out fine, but the Startup Repair explained that this could be a problem with a recently installed driver.
I recently uninstalled some MSXML and SQL Server bits and bobs which I thought were unnecessary
