I have downloaded firefox; but it will not open. the hourglass appears for a split second..and goes away.but...when i tried to uninstall FF, i got a msg saying that i needed to "close it" first! ??? how can i close it if it never opened? i'm confused. apparently it's open?
View 2 RepliesWhenever Firefox 8 opens, it opens in minimized mode (ie, just about covers the whole monitor screen, but not quite...hovering over single square in upper right gives a tooltip of "Maximize". I'd like it to open in maximized mode (in upper right should show double square and "Restore Down" tooltip)--how? Within the icon's shortcut on the desktop, properties>run>normal or maximize makes no difference, FF still opens minimized.
EDIT: BTW, the same thing is also happening on my laptop which is configured exactly the same as this desktop. Different computer manufacturers, but same OS and same configs for FF8.
I have got a problem with my system. The Internet Explorer was working fine, but suddenly yesterday for any urlprovided in the browser window, it shows 'Page cannot be displayed'. Am not able to browse any pages.I tried the following---> Setting the Windows Security settings to default,---> Checking the network connections.---> Tried downloading Mozilla and tried browsing from that, to know whether the problem is with IE, but the same problem exist with Mozilla too.

Its really weird because my laptop says it is connected to the internet through my wireless router. It loads for a while and then says "This webpage is not available." After a complete system recovery when I wanted to save an image I go to File, Save as and Mozialla Firefox saves it as Firefox document. I cannot open the image. In the past I use to save using Irfanview in a JPG format. How can I delete or disable my Firefox document save? I may have invertently sent a post incomplete by hitting the enter button.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI recently updated to Firefox 18. If I go to Windows' Control Panel and then click on "Uninstall a program", both Firefox 18 and Firefox 15 show up in the list of programs. Should I just leave it as it is, or should I uninstall Firefox 15?
By the way, I updated to Firefox 18 through Firefox's update feature, if that helps.
Recently installed the windows 7 beta today, having a few problems and after countless hours searching google for a fix i simply cant find any, so here goes:
- I cant open any programs, at all - im getting the error 'This program is not a valid Win32 Application' even when i have made sure it is.
- I can download files, but when they are complete the file/s are not there and the sizes are '0 kb'
- Also i cant make them appear on my desktop when finished downloading? Even if i run it in administrative mode.
P.s. Also if anyone has any links for Soundblaster 5.1 drivers/anti viruses etc? I cant get any to work, even some that state as win32 windows 7.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm not computer savvy but I can follow directions pretty well. Recently, I've discovered I cannot open any Zip files from my computer. I get an Adobe Acrobat error message saying I cannot open file because it is either not supported or file is damaged. This message comes up every time I try to open a zip file, no matter the source. I suspect it may be a default association problem based on the research I have done but I don't know how to correct the issue. As I said, I don't know a lot about operating systems.

When I look at the Download folder it shows an icon with correct title, but I can't see any files when I double click on it. This is not a "file folder" icon. I get an "Open file Security Warning" pop up. Shows run or cancel. Hit run it brings up "Win Zip Self Extractor" pop up. I have already supposedly unzipped this into the downloads. Have been through the issues of downloading Google Earth and think I have worked this out.

I've got a Microsoft Access 2003 database that all of the computers share that is hosted on one of the XP machines. The Windows 7 machine can access the Access database through the network just fine, as long as no one else is accessing it. However, if someone else on an XP machine on the network is using the file, it won't open on the Windows 7 machine. Doubling clicking the file on Windows 7 gives me the circling blue icon for a second or two, then nothing happens. If the XP user exits the database, then I can open it fine.
