My fingerprint reader randomly stopped working a few days ago. I first noticed it when trying to log on to my computer because the reader doesn't respond at all and now it doesn't even give me the fingerprint reader option when it comes to the welcome screen.
View 2 RepliesI have an older HP Pavilion zt3349cl that just keeps going. I installed Windows 7 on it and now when I put a sd card in the reader(built in) it wants to try and format the card-the card has pics on it. Card will work fine in another computer.
View 6 Replies View Relatedim not very computer minded, so this message may be brief to some. I have owner and been using a HP Pavillion DV7 Laptop on Windows 7 Home Premium for nearly 6 months now. The computer has been great and worked well up until this morning. A notice came up to do some updates, and once i clicked and computer restarted, I noticed my fingerprint reader no longer worked. I just get a message at first saying 'reading detector', then followed by 'The Fingerprint Reader Is Not Detected'. I had my finger sensor working fine daily up 2 this point.... its as if maybe a driver has been disabled or removed? without the sensor working, I have no possible way to get past user login screen. Its saying to type a password into box, but I cant for the life of me remember it, Im sure I never set one, as I knew the finger sensor would be easier?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've looked around some, but most other people's problems seemed to be that they could at least see a grayed out version of the card or locate it in the Device Manager, but absolutely nothing shows up for me. It worked fine a couple of days ago (when I was still on Vista), but after upgrading to 7, it no longer detects the SD card at all. Other topics had lots of random driver downloads, but the ones I tried did not seem to work.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI decided to replace my old internal card reader with the Akasa 3.5" internal 6-slot multicard reader with Superspeed USB 3.0 [AK-ICR-07U3] What I thought was going to be a 5 minute job became a bit of a headache. I've installed it and powered up the pc, it seemed to be working but then I got the message that the device could not be installed and no drivers were found. So off I go to Akasa website, I located the model and under support I found a "installation software" (even though the manual makes no mention of it and it's supposed to be "plug & Play"). I installed the driver and again it seemed to work, I was able to use my camera's memory card but when I tried to use another memory card it just froze, the reader gets stuck with the "reading light" all the time on even when I take the card out ... if I switch off the pc the card reader will still be stuck with both power and reading lights on, the only way for it to go off again is if I switch the power supply off. When I power the pc on it all looks fine until I try to actually use the card reader ... the usb port seems to be working fine though.My system is this:- Intel Core i7-2600 3.40GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor

I recently did something stupid and ended up having to completely re-install windows.The Wireless works sometimes but it usually is not working. It basically seems like it is turned off, it shows that there are no networks available even though there are. I have used Device Manager to update the drivers a few times. I also deleted the drivers and let them re-install like that. It is an Atheros AR5B93.The internal SD card doesn't work at all. When i put a card in nothing happens and it doesn't show up in "Computer". But When i have a card in it and go to device manager it shows up under "Other Device" (something like that) and the number UB6250. I've tried updating the drivers for every USB Device that shows up in device manager.Everything works ok except the wireless and the internal SD reader. I had no problems with them before the reinstall of windows. The normal USB ports work fine. Windows is at SP1.

When I insert the card into the reader, the green light above the slot turns on as if it recognizes the device, but it doesn't show up. Device Manager says that the driver is installed and working properly, and I have uninstalled it,reinstalled it, and restarted my computer. A system restore isn't really an option because it isn't my computer.

For nearly half of the .exe files I attempt to open, I get this stupid "---.exe has stopped working" (where --- represents the name of the file). After disabling all startups and services other than MS, succeeded in getting the drivers installed. Now I'm trying to clean the crap out of the computer, one of which is "Amazon Links". Will not uninstall from EITHER Programs and Features or Revo Uninstaller. Get the message that is the title of this post. 've seen many threads on the Web about this, but none that had a real answer. I would ordinarily try safe mode, but cannot find any folder with Amazon Links in it, so don't know where it is.

So, for example, in Outlook where I can normally click a link within an email to go to the web page, I now can't (affecting all emails). I thought it might be an Outlook problem but today I notice there are other programs which should automatically go to a webpage which aren't functioning.I think I downloaded some dodgy software yesterday and uninstalled it, so almost certain that's what's caused the problem.I am using Win7, by the way.
