im not very computer minded, so this message may be brief to some. I have owner and been using a HP Pavillion DV7 Laptop on Windows 7 Home Premium for nearly 6 months now. The computer has been great and worked well up until this morning. A notice came up to do some updates, and once i clicked and computer restarted, I noticed my fingerprint reader no longer worked. I just get a message at first saying 'reading detector', then followed by 'The Fingerprint Reader Is Not Detected'. I had my finger sensor working fine daily up 2 this point.... its as if maybe a driver has been disabled or removed? without the sensor working, I have no possible way to get past user login screen. Its saying to type a password into box, but I cant for the life of me remember it, Im sure I never set one, as I knew the finger sensor would be easier?
My fingerprint reader randomly stopped working a few days ago. I first noticed it when trying to log on to my computer because the reader doesn't respond at all and now it doesn't even give me the fingerprint reader option when it comes to the welcome screen.
So I installed Win 7 RC on my new laptop but the fingerprint reader) is not properly recognized with Windows 7 seeing it as a Generic Fingerprint Reader and installing the default driver.
In Device Manager the Hardware IDs for the reader are:
I just bought a new acer travelmate 5760-2434G64M laptop with windows 7 ultimate x64.Everything is perfect except the control panel harware and device doesnot show fingerprint device. also the Bio-protection software cannot detect the device.Device manager shows driver for Secure biometrics devices (EgisTec ES603).It shows the driver is up to date and working properly.I have tried installing the driver form the DVD provided and also from Acer website.
I have a Fingerprint Scanner (it says this in the description of my laptop "Fingerprint LTT SS801U & UPEK TCS5B") and i want to use it with windows 7 64 bit using the built in biomectirc devices but the current driver installed (egis tec version 8.70.801.1024 vista 64 bit) doesn't work with windows 7. I've found Acer Aspire 8943G Notebook EGISTEC Fingerprint Driver 8.70.801.1024 Driver for Windows 7 x64 Free Download - Softpedia but the windows 7 driver won't install. All the fingerprint sites don't offer downloads to there divers . Where can i get the driver from?
UPEK's biometric software, Protection Suite 2009, has been updated to work with the Windows 7 RC (Build 7100). However, for those of us who are adventurous enough to try the new leaked build 7127, the installation provides no support, and exits after giving a message that it is only for "builds 7168 to 7100".
Luckily for you guys, I've modified the installation package to support all builds upto 7200, and uploaded it on Rapidshare.
This took me a lotta pain to do, because I've never done anything of the sort, and it took a fair amount of googling and experimentation to find the right tools for the job. So if nothing else, at least give me a little rep if it comes in handy.
Note: This may fail to install the drivers for your fingerprint sensor. If so, just allow Windows Update to download and install the driver for you, and you'll be fine. If the sensor already has a driver installed but the Protection Suite fails to recognize it, goto Control Panel -> System -> Device Manager -> Biometric Devices, and right click on your sensor, and select Uninstall; also select the "Delete device driver" option. Then reboot, and let Windows install the sensor again, and download the driver through Windows Update.
Ive got them from the acer website for my 6935g and it all installed fine but as i go to set up my prints all 6 scan propetly but at the end it says finger enrollment failed. Anyone managed to get them to work?
I am currently using a 7100 English version, the notebook is the IBM X61, I have provided in the use of Lenovo fingerprint driver can use, but I deleted the Lenovo drivers, Windows 7 will help me a fingerprint auto-update driver, but I have not been able to normal installation, the error Code 80070103 prompted to download the driver for the UPEK Driver Update For TouchChip Fingerprint Coprocessor.
I have for some time used a fingerprint reader to log on to a HP 4730s . My print is no longer recognized, probably wear and tear. Where can I register a new print, after logging on with password?
My laptop has one of those built-in fingerprint scanners. I used to use it to log in, but I upgraded to Windows 7 once it came out and didn't bother to find the driver. I don't really want to use it to log in, but if I can use it to scan my fingerprints and just see what they look like, it might be kind of cool.
I am using a HP ProBook 6560b (Win 7 Pro x64) laptop which comes with a fingerprint scanner, which I want to be able to use to log in to Windows. This has got me stumped right now though, and I can't find a solution for this problem online. Here's hoping you guys know what the problem is A few more details: The computer came with a bundle of HP programs, and after considering them and what they had to offer I uninstalled nearly all of them. As I said before, I want to be able to use the fingerprint scanner, and the only thing I've found so far which uses it is the HP ProtectTools. This program only allows me to link my fingerprint to credentials FOR various login screens (websites, programs, etc) AFTER I've logged into Windows using a password.
i just installed Windows 7 Ultimate to my notebook Asus F3SV, i use Vista drivers and utilities and everything is ok. but i realized that the fingerprint doesn't work. i update all drivers and utilities from asus support page and it still doesn't work. than i tried to open 'my identity' under the Asus Security Center i had a warning:
The Asus Security Protect Manager is not properly installed on your computer.
If the problem persists please contact your system administrator.
i re-install the program and i had a warning about verisoft asghost.exe. i did everything you've written but it still can't work can anyone help me please?
Is a fingerprint login good for a home pc? Is it as save as a password or safer?I am thinking about buying this Amazon.com: Eikon Digital Privacy Manager - USB fingerprint reader: Electronics.I Think its a cool gadget to have for my Desktop but im not sure if its a good idea.
I have an HP Pavilion dv7 that I logon to using the fingerprint reader. However, I have other accounts that do not have enrolled fingerprints, and use their username and password to login. Right now it's only giving the option to scan the fingerprint (to login as me). How do I get it to show the screen where others can login?
has anybody else had a problem with their fingerprint scanner since upgrading from Vista? I take 5 or 6 or sometimes even more, attempts to log on/open programs etc since upgrading whereas on vista it did it first time every time. I have the acer aspire 6935G (Acer Aspire 6935G-844G32Bn Gemstone Blue Laptop LX.ATP0X.065 - Acer Direct)
my laptop is hp pavilion dv7 with fingerprint scanner. is there any way or software by which i can login to my internet accounts like Internet etc., by fingerprint scanner and also protect my software with fingerprint scanner?
My laptop is hp pavilion dv7 core i5 and it came from france. The software digital persona fingerprint scanner dont works with google chrome and mozilla firefox. Why is this so? I cant login to my online accounts. It always says that this is not a login page but it works fine with internet explorer but i dont like that crappy browser.
I have a problem with the login process for Windows. A while ago (nearly a year now) I installed a USB fingerprint reader and this worked fine for a while when all of a sudden it appeared to stop working on the login page. It turns out that if I scan my fingerprint within the first 2 seconds of the login page appearing then Windows recognizes the device and allows me to log in using biometrics, if I try after the 2 seconds then it doesn't work and I have to use a password. I really don't understand, the device is recognized, working properly and even if it doesn't work for logging in then I can still access biometric settings and everything as if it was completely fine. I'm presuming that this is a driver conflict somewhere that during the loading process something happens after 2 seconds that prevents the fingerprint reader from operating correctly but how do I find out what?
I got an acer travelmate 6465WLMi running 64-bit Windows 7 and after some digging around I managed to get the smartcard and 4 in 1 cardreader to work with drivers from a different travelmate. Only problem I have now is that I can't find any 64-bit drivers for the fingerprint sensor. When I went to check the first time device manager showed it as an SMSC fingerprint sensor but checking their site didn't assist at all, any working driver? ([URL] didn't work although one site mentioned they're used in acer laptops...
I did a clean install on my new HP pavillion model a6632f, everything works other than I can't get the 15 in 1 reader to show up. There are no unknown devices in device manager.
When I put a CF or an SDHC card in the internal (USB) cardreaderor in an external (USB) cardreader, those cards are not seen, although the readers are seen alright. When I disconnect the internal reader, put a card in it, and connect it again to USB, the card is seen. Take the card out, put it in again; no card. Same with he external reader.I checked Device Manager on possible wrong settings, but couldn't find anything.
im running an evga sli 58x, and windows 7 64bit 7077
i have the RC1 version of windows 7 but i hate to install that and as i have all my games and everything id have to reinstall with it(major pain) plus im not even sure if that would fix my problem
anyways when i plug my card reader in i can't access it at all, it does show up in device manager but it says drivers not installed. I don't think they make this card reader anymore and there would be drivers floating around for a card reader, so what are my choices?
I bought this Generic USB All in 1 Mini Card Reader off eBay (Some Cheap chinese thing) It worked fine on my previous setup, Windows Vista x64, and it still works on my fathers computer, Vista x64 I believe. But When I try to connect it to my current Windows 7 x64 install, it justs gives me an I/O device error, I think it might have something to do with the Device driver for Win 7 It might not be compatible, I don't know just thought somebody might have an idea if I can get it to work in Windows 7.
on my laptop (ASUS Z91N), I've got one left driver issue: the integrated memory card reader.
It's called Ricoh SD/MMC controller, the latest driver having the best behavior found is 2003-10-20 (1.4.2.9) from ASUS website for WinXP. All other drivers found does nothing, they install but when I plug the card, nothing appears in "My computer".
The problem is that when I plug a SD card, windows detects it, assigns a letter, but I am unable to open to look at the files. I get "Access denied" every time.
When I try to format, it does it with the good size detected! I tested by looking with another computer.
So, this problem is weird, I never had any issue similar to that in the past.
I'm running Windows 7 RC on HP nw8000 and I'm pretty sure the card reader worked ok on Vista Ultimate 32.
Has anyone found a driver for the built-in SD card reader? HP doesn't list anything past XP on their site, not even for Vista for this device for this notebook.
