HP Pavilion 15 In 1 Reader
I did a clean install on my new HP pavillion model a6632f, everything works other than I can't get the 15 in 1 reader to show up. There are no unknown devices in device manager.
Any ideas?

Up to now I have had no problems with things being recognized. but the other day I rebooted the system. Much to my surprise the Card reader didn't show up when i opened the my computer Icon. When I stuck in a card figuring maybe it just didn't reqister nothing happened so I looked in the device Mgr and low and behold it shows up that with no problems. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers and though they reinstalled with no problems the divice still only shows in the Device mgr and is not accessable anywhere else any thoughts would be helpful.

Error Message From Adobe Reader
I installed Win 7 RC1 on my Toshiba Satellite A135 as an upgrade to Vista Home Premium. I already had Adobe Reader 8 installed and it seems to work allright when I use it to open a file. When I log into my secure, online banking site using IE8, Adobe starts up also and displays this message: Cannot use Adobe Reader to view PDF in your web browser. Reader will now exit. Please exit your browser and try again. I have tried running the application compatibility tool and found no issues. The browser continues to work fine, so I'm not sure what would cause this to occur only when I log into this one particular site.

Ricoh SD/MMC Card Reader
on my laptop (ASUS Z91N), I've got one left driver issue: the integrated memory card reader. It's called Ricoh SD/MMC controller, the latest driver having the best behavior found is 2003-10-20 (1.4.2.9) from ASUS website for WinXP. All other drivers found does nothing, they install but when I plug the card, nothing appears in "My computer". The problem is that when I plug a SD card, windows detects it, assigns a letter, but I am unable to open to look at the files. I get "Access denied" every time. When I try to format, it does it with the good size detected! I tested by looking with another computer. So, this problem is weird, I never had any issue similar to that in the past. Anybody here having the same problem?

Memory Card Reader Problems
Are there any known compatibility problems with memory card readers? While running Win 7 Beta, my SD card reader worked fine. Since installing RC, it does not. The system detects that a card is inserted into the slot and demands a format. After trying to format the device I get an error message that Windows was unable to perform the format (no, the card is not write protected). I've tried several SD cards (2 2-gig and a 4 gig) and none work, although they do work (without a format) in other devices, such as a digital camera. So either I have a hardware problem with the card reader (always possible, but it's only 6 months old) or there's a problem with Windows 7 RC reading and writing to the card. Device Manager says the device is there and working correctly.

Realtek Card Reader Not Recognized

I noticed it had install a generic driver for the card reader, so i updated the driver with the correct version from Acer. This was couple weeks ago and everything seemed fine until today, when I noticed the laptop now doesnt recognise the card reader. It doesnt even show up as an unknown device in device manager, it like it doesnt exsit. Ive downloaded the recent drivers for vista/windows7 to no avail. I've also tried unstalling the Intel usb contollers and even going back to the original version of the drivers again to no avail... the only thing i can think of is reverting back to the generic drivers supplied with Windows7, but i dont know where there located on the disk or on microsoft.

Smart Card Reader Issues
This is the only major showstopper for me in using Seven 95% ActivIdentity USB Reader V2 ActiveClient 6.1 Both work fine in Vista 64 on the same box in dual boot. In Vista the driver used is the generic MS usbccid.sys driver version 6.0.6001.18000 dated 6/1/2006 In Seven there are 4 MS drivers all version 6.1.7000.0 dated 6/21/2006: - scfilter.sys - WUDFUsbccidDriver.dll - winusb.sys - WUDFRd.sys In Device Manager status I get the "This device Cannot Start. (code 10)" message. If I uninstall the device and plug it back in I can see that Windows sees an ActivCard USB reader V2 (shows up in "Other Devices" while drivers are trying to install) but the install fails for the Microsoft Usbccid smartcard Reader (WUDF). I have tried the latest drivers to no avail.

The same with my optical drives, is it possible to 'hide' them only showing when they have mounted a an item of optical media? Or is this just pipe dreams, and only the preserve of unix based systems?

AuthenTec AES1610 Fingerprint Reader Keeps Disconnecting
I've experienced problems with the Authentec AES1610 fingerprint reader under Windows 7 RC. The device IS working using the default Windows 7 driver. However, it keeps disconnecting, triggering the Hardware disconnected chime. This occurs ever minute or so. I know for sure it is this device because if I remove it entirely OR if I install the Digital Persona software and attendant driver that are distributed online for my HP tablet (TX2510us), the chiming goes away. There is clearly something about the Windows 7 driver that is "losing grasp" of the device and letting it disconnect from the system over and over.

Dell 2407 Monitor Card Reader
Has anyone gotten a card reader built into a dell monitor to show up in Windows 7? I got any and all updates to Win 7 I could find. I installed the latest Vista chipset drivers for my motherboard, and also tried some drivers from Intel. The Memory card reader just does not show up at all. There is also a memory card reader built into the printer and it works fine. At one point there were Dell SM bus drivers available as an optional update. I tried installing them, but they failed. Now, just yesterday they no longer show up in Windows update.

Dialogs Are Not Easily Read With A Screen Reader
I use JAWS to assist me with reading screens. A lot of the UI has text which is not easily read because it isn't a conventional dialogue. A good example of this would be the Windows Update section. The dialog displays a fair amount of information and the user can only do one of two things to read the text (as far as I can tell). 1. They can just read links and buttons using tab to select each item (and the tab order doesn't seem particularly logical). 2. They have to send the entire screen text to the JAWS virtual buffer (Control + Insert + W) and then step through it in text. This provides a lot of extraneous information like the search box and layout information. Does any other blind user out there have good tricks to make the UI more readable with JAWS? Microsoft - if you are listening - Windows XP is infinitely better for JAWS users. Some kind of dialog theme function where the user could go to "old" style windows UI would really help.

It is like maybe it should prompt me to allow it to change but it never prompts so it doesn't change the settings. Windows 7 x64 Lenovo Fingerpring 3.2.0.275Jimmy

If I insert a SD Card in the SD slot on the Card Reader, and use the hardware trobleschooting in Windows 7 RC : Win 7 can reconise the SD Card and I can use it, but only during the session. Next time i start the system I have the same error as before. For this 4 in one Card Reader there is no Driver for Win XP or Vista nesesary, so i think there normally no driver needed for Windows 7 RC either.Â

Driver For UPEK Biometric Device Fingerprint Reader
I've got a Dell XPS M1330 notebook with integrated UPEK biometric fingerprint reader. The device itself is working fine, however the driver setup I've got at the moment isn't ideal. I can either use the driver provided by Windows Update, and this allows Windows to recognise the biometric device and I can use the Windows fingerprint logion functionality, but this is all. What I really want to do is use UPEKs' Protector Suite QL to enable the use of the biometric device to login to websites etc. If I use the driver provided by Windows Update, Protector Suite QL doesn't recognise the fingerprint reader installed. If I use the UPEK driver that allows the Protector Suite to work, Windows doesn't find any biometric devices installed - I can't find a suitable driver where both Windows AND Protector Suite QL recognise the biometric device. Has anyone a solution or a similar problem? I would like Windows to recognise the device to use the Windows biometric login, and Protector Suite QL to recognise he device to use the biometric website login. Alternatively I'd be happy not to use Protector Suite QL at all if there is a way to use the biometric device to login to websites native in Windows.
