Fingerprint Scanner Works Within 2 Seconds Of Login Page Appearing?
Apr 15, 2012
I have a problem with the login process for Windows. A while ago (nearly a year now) I installed a USB fingerprint reader and this worked fine for a while when all of a sudden it appeared to stop working on the login page. It turns out that if I scan my fingerprint within the first 2 seconds of the login page appearing then Windows recognizes the device and allows me to log in using biometrics, if I try after the 2 seconds then it doesn't work and I have to use a password. I really don't understand, the device is recognized, working properly and even if it doesn't work for logging in then I can still access biometric settings and everything as if it was completely fine. I'm presuming that this is a driver conflict somewhere that during the loading process something happens after 2 seconds that prevents the fingerprint reader from operating correctly but how do I find out what?
I am using a HP ProBook 6560b (Win 7 Pro x64) laptop which comes with a fingerprint scanner, which I want to be able to use to log in to Windows. This has got me stumped right now though, and I can't find a solution for this problem online. Here's hoping you guys know what the problem is A few more details: The computer came with a bundle of HP programs, and after considering them and what they had to offer I uninstalled nearly all of them. As I said before, I want to be able to use the fingerprint scanner, and the only thing I've found so far which uses it is the HP ProtectTools. This program only allows me to link my fingerprint to credentials FOR various login screens (websites, programs, etc) AFTER I've logged into Windows using a password.
I am writing this while my computer is in safe mode. After I click on an account when I boot normally, it will freezes a few moments later on the desktop.I have an HP DV8 that is about three years old. Here are the specs:
i7 Q720 @ 1.60 Ghz 4GB Ram
I've tried doing the boot repair by pressing F8 during startup and it said everything was working perfectly fine.I also tried going to previous restore points and it still froze.I did a scan using hijack this and here is the results:
Logfile of Trend Micro HijackThis v2.0.4 Scan saved at 6:49:58 PM, on 1/3/2013 Platform: Windows 7 (WinNT 6.00.3504) MSIE: Internet Explorer v9.00 (9.00.8112.16457) Boot mode: Safe mode with network support
I watch videos from this site Poker Netcast | Live At The Bike | LABTTheir login is https.Ive been in IT for 15 years and even this has stumped me.When I go to login in IE9 starts looping from the login page to the https page and back to the original page and never ends. I load firefox, same issue. I load Crome, it worked for 1 day then same issue. It used to login in fine last week. It logs in fine on my 2 other PCs and my Kindlefire.I have checked for viruses with Avast and A-Malware Bytes in safe mode - nothing. These 2 pick up 98% of stuff. Personally I dont think its a virusn IE9 - Deleted browsing history, cookies, temp internet files, everything under the Geneeral/Browsing History section. Did a disk cleanup, put the site inthe trusted zone, turned off popup blocker just in case, Cleared SSL state, Reset IE9. Zippo
My laptop has one of those built-in fingerprint scanners. I used to use it to log in, but I upgraded to Windows 7 once it came out and didn't bother to find the driver. I don't really want to use it to log in, but if I can use it to scan my fingerprints and just see what they look like, it might be kind of cool.
has anybody else had a problem with their fingerprint scanner since upgrading from Vista? I take 5 or 6 or sometimes even more, attempts to log on/open programs etc since upgrading whereas on vista it did it first time every time. I have the acer aspire 6935G (Acer Aspire 6935G-844G32Bn Gemstone Blue Laptop LX.ATP0X.065 - Acer Direct)
my laptop is hp pavilion dv7 with fingerprint scanner. is there any way or software by which i can login to my internet accounts like Internet etc., by fingerprint scanner and also protect my software with fingerprint scanner?
My laptop is hp pavilion dv7 core i5 and it came from france. The software digital persona fingerprint scanner dont works with google chrome and mozilla firefox. Why is this so? I cant login to my online accounts. It always says that this is not a login page but it works fine with internet explorer but i dont like that crappy browser.
Is a fingerprint login good for a home pc? Is it as save as a password or safer?I am thinking about buying this Amazon.com: Eikon Digital Privacy Manager - USB fingerprint reader: Electronics.I Think its a cool gadget to have for my Desktop but im not sure if its a good idea.
When I boot up my computer, it displays the animated windows7 logo as normal, but where it would normally display the login screen all I get is a blank screen with the mouse cursor. I've tried all keyboard shortcuts and random clicks to no avail - it stays on that screen for hours with occasional HDD activity.I've tried booting in safe mode only to encounter exactly the same problem, and have no previous restore points (which I know is a big mistake).Due to it not starting in safe mode either, I tried to replace the winlogon.exe file from another Windows 7 instillation to no avail - I still get the same problem.I am able to boot into linux (off my removable HDD) and windows XP (from my secondary internal HDD), so I am led to believe it is a corrupted file or dodgy setting within Windows 7 rather than a hardware fault.
have Windows 7 64-bit working properly, and make me feel a bit better about buying it? At the moment it looks like I'm stuck with a bunk OS and am out $200. I'm not happy at all...Here's a summary of the main problems I'm having:System restore doesn't work - I make a save point, but it doesn't see it when I try to restore. I had XP Pro before 7, and the restore function didn't work on that OS eitherIE 8 32-bit doesn't work, it freezes after viewing a page for about 20 seconds. The 64-bit works fine, but I want to use the 32 bit if I can, mainly because I use roboform and that doesn't work on the 64 bit browser. My surround sound only works if set up as a 2 speaker system. No video files will play at allRegardless of the type of video, they give the same error "server execution failed"I use Impulse, from Stardock, which is basically a service like Steam.Impulse runs, but only minimized, it won't come up to the desktop. I had the 32-bit version of 7 installed, and it worked fine there.
There's more, but this is all I can think of atm.I've been working on this sh*t since last Saturday, and am starting to burn out. I need to make a list of the problems so I don't forget what they all are. So far I've installed Windows 4 times; apparently there's a lot of software it just doesn't like (like office 2000 & the zonealarm I have), where loading just frags the whole
I've recently upgraded to Windows 7 ult(clean install with mech upgrade as well). Everything seems to work fine but I noticed that whenever I open my web browser or work on document, the page I'm browsing or working on goes inactive. For example, just now as I type this post, the page goes inactive and the cursor disappears so I have to click back on the page.
I've updated the driver for the mouse and alse used my old mouse. The problem remains.
Is there any way I can force my wallpapers defined in my theme to appear at the login screen and when I lock my computer (Window key + L)? Also note that the wallpapers should cycle through their normal sequence and time at the login screen.
I have a Microsoft Intellipoint 2000 usb mouse that has been working flawlessly for about 8 months, and a windows 7 laptop 64 bit. Recently however, the mouse would work at the login screen, but after I would login, it would stop working. Its drivers are up-to-date. It seems as though something changed recently that disables it after login, and if I reconnect it I sometimes get Error Code 43, and it says it is not recognized, then again, sometimes it will work flawlessly, until i put my computer to sleep.
I recently re-installed Windows 7 from some rescue disks, and everything, with the exception of Internet Explorer is now running fine! Basically whenever I load a web page in IE it crashes after a short time (5 - 10 seconds), and I then have to exit with CTRL + SHIFT + ESC (Task Manager)! Inside task manager I actually have to terminate the IE processes, as IE won't exit if I attempt to shut down through the Applications tab.
Initially IE8 was installed from the rescue disks, and I have since upgraded to IE9, but both versions are behaving just as badly as each other.
I have even tried to start IE in "No-Add Ons" mode from the "Accessories" menu - however after a short time it still crashes. Now I have no add ons enabled, I have deleted everything (in IE history), scanned for viruses (there are none), and I am wondering if there is some way of repairing IE?
P.S.: I have installed other browsers, but I actually need IE for running some Microsoft Online Services, all other browsers are only supported in "lite" mode!!!

I am have a problem with my windows 7 pc. My computer goes to the log on screen (enter password) if it sits idle for about 50 seconds. I tried to change the sleep settings but it does not work.
My Windows 7 - 64 bit takes about 12-15 seconds loading in the login screen before it loads the desktop. I only have three startup programs running, Avast 7, Realtek Audio, and Catalyst. I don't have a password and only have one account (admin). I know that 12-15 seconds is not so much of an issue but I think that the normal waiting time is only less than 5 seconds and I think 12-15 seconds is not right because I am running Windows 7 on a Core i7 950 3Ghz and 7200rpm Hard disk. I already defragged my hard disk using Auslogic Disk Defrag and scanned my computer for virus.
I used Defogger to get rid of my mount drive, then used DDS to get a log I would get a friend to look at, and then used OTL to scan my computer. I ran the "fix" on OTL and everything went back to normal (IE home page stayed as set, and the dimmer buttons on my laptop started to work). Then came a Windows Update and restart after updating.
I have a Dell xps laptop with Win7 home premium. I have a wireless network connection through my netgear, as it shows when open the "network & sharing center." As the screenshot shows, there is an annoying "dial up connection" window that randomly appears while I'm using the pc. I can't access the inter net while this is there so I have to close it
As an employee of Home Depot we have a website we can enter from our home computer to access our weekly hours, pay benefits, etc,. I have been using this for months. As of last week my log in page will not allow me to enter this site. I have tried everything I can think of to correct this. I've called the tech support at the Home Depot. We have reset and changed the password three times. The Tech can access the site from his side and I can go to a different computer and access it. I just can't access it from my home computer. I have a Windows 7 64 bit operating system. Question? why did it work for eight months and then quit working? Last try Feb 28 2011.
Now, everytime I try to login in the control panel of a game I play -> link, the page just refreshes and I won't be logged in. This only seems to happen for Google Chrome, I tried it on Firefox and I could get in just fine.
This is also a newly-built and freshly installed computer, not even a week's age yet. This is also the first time I'll be on Windows 7, my old PC was Win XP, and I could login the site using Chrome just fine, so I'm inclined to say it's the OS, but my friend has Win7 too and he could get in just fine.
I have a Toshiba laptop with Win 7 Pro. I set up the fingerprint utility early in the setup of the new system, and now I do not have a valid login ID for Window 7. The one I thought was correct doesn't work. So I can login in with my fingerscan, but I cannot login with a password. I would like to be able to login with the password, or to give it to someone who hasn't enrolled fingerprints.
Is there any way for me to remove or change or find a working Win 7 login password?
trying to recover from a system crash here.. One of the issues was me not being able to install/uninstall microsoft antivirus, since it seems some files were deleted which it needed. I tracked that issue to yet another issue what windows installer could not start, which suggested me to check if it was enables in Msservice.exe, which I couldn't start either. After some googling, I found a fix on MS website, which moved some dll around and asked me to reboot PC. After doing so, it stopped recognizing my keyboard and mouse (both usb) at the login screen, they are completely dead even thou they work on boot and in bios (and are detected in bios).I tried to restoring to the point before the "fix", but same issue.
when i attempt to log in to many sites (hotmail, Internet, steam community, razerzone, thinkgeek, my bank, etc.) after hitting "login" the page refreshes to show both the username and password fields blank and i am not logged in. i'm running windows home premium 64bit, and i'm using firefox primarily but the issue is present in ie and chrome as well. i think the problem is logging into secure servers, i can view https sites without issue, i just can't login. i have tried deleting cookies, history etc.
